Bayou Oaks City Park North Course
About
Golf has been played at City Park since 1902 when the nine-hole New Orleans Golf Club opened. At the time it was one of only 80 golf courses in the country. There were four 18-hole courses at the complex before it was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. The North Course was rebuilt in 2009 and now there is also a 36-hole mini-golf complex. The course is just over 5,400 yards from the back tees and features water on eight holes. Proper club selection is the key to scoring well on this layout. The golf course is popular among both locals and visitors because it's not only player friendly enough to accommodate all skill levels but its location is also easily accessible from anywhere in New Orleans. The affordable rates make it even more appealing and there's also a 74-stall driving range.

Golf Advisor: Top 25 Most Improved U.S. Golf Courses (2021 #23)
Reviews
Basic with no frills
I'll start by saying I love golf. So being able to play honey course had any time is better than not playing at all. They have a decent driving range but the course leaves a lot to be desired. It is a golf course but it is in need of quite a few repairs. It is relatively flat with only a few hazards such as bunkers and water to challenge you. The greens were slow and Shaggy. The Golf Course was pretty saturated due to a lot of rain in the area. That may cause issues with being able to get Workers out on the course and mow the greens. When I'm in the area I will play it again to give it another review.
course not to play
They advertise a par 72 but in actuality it's only a par 63/64. They only have 1 par 5 and the rest par 3's and 4's. Not even a full golf course but yet they charge full price. I wouldn't play they ever again. Even if they paid me. The north course is a JOKE.
Beautiful afternoon
I like great golf courses but above all I like Golf.... On this Sunday afternoon I played with my wife who is beginning and this course was fitting our purpose.
The weather was amazing and the pace was average. The greens are finally back which took forever but they are now playable. The Tees need work and the fairways are OK nothing more or less than expected for a $22 round of golf.
Easy and convenient to the French Quarter.
Not bad for price
I have played this course regularly for years. The new greens are a welcomed addition.
City Course
Pace of play was extremely slow , Marshall was no where to be found on the course but he was in the hazard looking for lost balls.I would come back and play again though but price should be lower than 38.00 plus tax
Fun if you know what to expect...
Played Saturday afternoon and got a great deal. Was expecting a long round but surprisingly wasn't overly crowded. Was such a great deal that couldn't expect too much, we had a great time. I do wish the greens were cut lower and were faster and truer (they are very slow, VERY). That's my only gripe, but we did have a great time. Saw a little gator on 17 too. That was pretty cool.
bad faiways
First and foremost we should have been informed that the regular greens were not playable . The fairways are in pitiful condition. No grass thru out course. Needs complete overhaul. Would love to promote city park golf but definite attention is needed.
Very disappointing
The course is obviously undergoing some changes. The layout was horrible, most holes were less than 150 yards and what was supposed to be the greens were nothing more than a 10 or 15 foot area with a hole in the middle. It looks like they just took a spot on the fairway and decided to put a hole in it. To be fair, they are building a PGA course across the street and are supposed to overhaul this course in 2017. In the meantime, I don't intend to play it again
Not Golf
Literally can't believe they have the audacity to call this dump a golf course.
Not Worth $7
Played here and they had temporary "greens" (spray painted areas on the fairway.) The course should be closed down, permanently. It had rained a day or two before and so the course was water-logged. The "greens" were often located under an inch of water... What a joke this course is and has been for years. Shoddy management has run it into the ground I would say. Not worth your time or even $7 to play here, unless you need to practice your anger management.
Great value
Great, easy course. Currently undergoing greens maintenance, and so they're using temporary greens about 20-30y into the fairway until next season. That said, the rest of the course is in excellent shape.
Pretty easy training wheels course. A little bit of easily passable water here and there, as well as the occasional bunker. Most of the bunkers don't come into play with the temporary greens.
Pace is great. People are polite and will always let you play through if you like. Overall a very relaxed experience.
I could see how this wouldn't be a hit for a very experienced golfer looking for the ultimate in course obstacles - but for someone desirous of an enjoyable, casual round - and for $10 - this is an excellent practice course.
Don't waste your time
The greens were spray painted on the fairway. Golf now charged $30. It should be around $15.
Remove the Alternate Greens
Very nice course to play, but not with alternate greens, putting was almost impossible,
What a joke
Stay away. If you play here you are wasting your money, even if it is only a quarter. Temp greens for 4 weeks.
Don't waste a penny here
This has got to be the worst course in america. They cut greens into the fairways bc the greens are so bad. Imagine putting turf that's 1-2 inches long. This place is a joke. Save your money and go somewhere else.
Improving
This course is doing some work. The greens were fast and in good shape.
Great Time
Me and two friends had a great time at the North Course. The course was in pretty good shape and we will travel back to NOLA to play again. Special thanks to Rachel who worked the beverage cart she was very nice!
City Park North
Fairways a little scarce on grass. Otherwise not in bad shape
Don't waste your time or money.
Slow play. 3 hrs for 9. When I went in for a refund for the 9 I didn't have time to play due to the slow play the guy laughed and said there's no way he can refund. I couldn't take a rain check because I was visiting the area (I wouldn't want to anyway). Awful greens as well. Just a poorly run facility by poor mannered people.
Public Course - Get what you pay for!
I like City Park, course needs a little work, such as putting surfaces. Fun outing for wife and I in New Orleans, our regular course had Tournament, and other were bit more pricey.
Staff makes up for what the course lacks, pace of play for a Saturday morning in good weather was surprising. They are fighting greens, and putting was a real challenge.
