Very tough course
Played from the gold tees, but definitely should have played from the blacks. This course has a lot of trouble left and right and your tee shot must be perfect. Course was in great shape. Greens were extremely fast but could use a little more grass.
Nice roind
Pretty course layout. Golfer friendly if you hit from the correct It's. All in good shape and carts have GPS. A really nice day.
Good value
This is a great course for the money. The staff was very friendly. It’s kind of off the beaten path as they say from Baton Rouge but worth it. The only issue is Golf Now has the wrong address listed. I had to call the pro shop to find it , I almost missed my tee time ..
Pretty and hard
Pretty scenery and not a very forgiving course. They just punched the greens but other than that very nice!
Interesting holes, good greens.
I am visiting family and brought my clubs from Pennsylvania and enjoyed the course. Good practice facilities, really good rolling greens, traps all well maintained, just a nicely maintained and designed course. I felt the price was really fair and although I didn’t partake of their off course amenities they seemed well done.
I’d play it again, no question. The young man runners no the pro shop was welcoming and polite. Nice day on the course,
Beautiful November Golfing
The short and sweet; the staff was good; the course was great; the weather was awesome! The "amenities" were under construction, but in spite of that, the lady in there was super nice and helpful!
I would definitely play this course again!
Fast greens and windy
Friendly staff, greens overall were in great shape and fast, most bunkers were raked, tight fairways, good test of skills
Great day of spring time golf on punched greens
Course was in good shape this time of year. Unfortunately we played two days after green aeration. The fairways were very hard and balls would roll into trouble at times. Better bring a good wedge off tight lies. Our 2 elder players played the women's tees and drive 3 of the greens. The most fun he had in a long time. Retire early and play on a Tuesday.
Excellent greens
Fast and hard greens. Very puttable and in excellent condition. Pace at 1:00 pm was excellent. Course has wide fairways, but water is often in play, but avoidable.
The only complaint is the bunkers. They hadn't been raked and were very compacted, probably due to recent rains, but it seems they could have been groomed. Except for this I would have given the course a 5. I'd certainly play it again.
Challenging but fair
I've played The Island about a dozen times so far. It's a real good layout and there are a few very challengjng holes. Course is usually in great condition although right now is a transition period due to weather. Greens were pretty quick and true. Best my buddy today, so that always makes the round better. Shot of the day was a 60 yard chip holed out for an eagle by my buddy on #4.
Entertaining Course
The Island is a visually pleasing course. Water abounds on both the front and back nines. Fairways are wide, but tee boxes and hazards make you look for premier landing spots. Greens are well kept and sometimes pin placements can be difficult. Rarely a straight put if your are more than 8 foot out. Sand bunkers are inconsistent throughout the course - anywhere from concrete to 'snow fluff'. We usually play 'rake and place' whenever someone is in the sand.
A beautiful place to play.
Great Course
The course is always in great shape. And it is a very challenging course.
Great course
I was very impress with the course conditions. Staffs are very friendly.
Top course for the money
Wonderful course. Challenging with lots of water..
Rough is thick and deep hard to find ball even a few feet from green ans fairway, bring extra balls.
The course to play when it's been raining.
Best course in the Baton Rouge area to play after its been raining a lot.It drains better than any other course in the area.
Lovely Course
The Island is a nice course with unlimited range balls with your round. the course is challenging with water coming into play on many holes. Carts have gps tracking and scoring. For the deal I got on Golf Now of $25 for the round with cart, couldn't be beat a really fantastic deal. I will definitely be back to play The Island.
