The Bluffs on Thompson Creek
About
The Bluffs on Thompson Creek enjoys a beautiful setting tucked away amid mature hardwood forests. Creeks freely meander throughout the golf course, interconnecting with the sparkling ponds that can be found throughout. The layout is an Arnold Palmer design that takes advantage of the hills, bluffs, and hollows of the varied landscape. You face uneven lies and a few blind shots thanks to the terrain but you'll also get scenic views of the surrounding area. Accuracy is important to have but it's not an overly punishing layout if you happen to be errant. The golf course has a challenging start with an uphill par 3 as the opening hole. Another memorable hole is the par-3 eighth, which features a 50-foot drop to the fairway below. It's both an intimidating and beautiful hole.

Hidden Gem
Great course to play. Little golf community kept in the back of some winding roads. Beautiful area.
Wonderful experience
Great staff. Great course.
Barry (pro shop) was courteous, knowledgeable and accommodating. Few amenities available due to Covid19 but they did have ice, drinks, water, beer and a few snacks. Course was in great shape! Compliments to the greens keeper. Played with my son and we look forward to playing again.
Great Layout but...
It has been years since my last outing to The Bluffs.
The greens were as I had remembered (Great) but the fairways are a bit thin at this time.
most of the bunkers could use more sand. ( Haven't been maintained)
But the thing that bothered me the most was the terrible cart paths.
Had a good day
We enjoyed the course and the day.
However I had one of my party that had to drop out due to his daughters job (nurse) had change her schedule.
Tried to cancel one of the four tee times and I got a message back from GolfNow that the course had not allowed it and when I got to the course I was told it was GolfNow that controlled that.
I had read that I could modify or cancel tee times until an hour before the actual tee time.
The Bluffs tried to issue me a rain check but their system would not allow it because their was no bad weather in our area.
I'll be a bit more cautious in the future scheduling tee times.
Thanks and have a good day!
Worth the drive
Wow what a nice course in the middle of nowhere. There are a couple for holes on the front nine that are being. Worked on and is more rustic than the other holes. The score cards reflect the new yardage but the golf apps haven’t.
Not impressed with the group of eight in front of us playing slowly. There was even a course marshal following them and not letting us play through.
No gps on the carts but the sprawling course is well thought out and challenging.
Even with the slow play we really enjoyed this course.
Worth the drive from Lafayette.
Trapped by sand
The course was in good shape, greens recently sanded fairways had some recent work done as well. The only area needing attention was the sand traps. There was a fair amount of small rocks on many traps and the sand was packed had not been racked in some time.
Love this course
I live in Corpus Christi, Texas but have been spending a week every Spring and Fall in St. Francisville for the last 6 years and playing golf at The Bluffs. Love the course. It is challenging and always in great condition. Clubhouse and restaurant staff are awesome.
Best track near Baton Rouge!
Thought the course was fantastic. Firm greens that rolled true but also allowed the ball to check up. Difficult holes where placement is vital to scoring. Par 4s were collectively short from the blues. Would likely play the tips next time. Only complaint is that some of the tee boxes were pretty chewed up. Advise to move them around to give time for them to repair and regrow. Sand traps were a bit rocky and not very full. All around lovely course with challenging holes! Can’t wait to get back out there and play again!
Beautiful course!
The elevation changes on this course are challenging yet fun. The greens and bunkers were in good shape but some of the tee box’s could use some work. This course is so scenic that my wife (who does not play golf) like to ride along with me just to enjoy the beautiful scenery. A must play if you are in the area.

The course was in excellent shape as usual, the new staff a very helpful. We will definitely be back it’s a challenging course.
Trending upward but still a shell of its former self
I know it's winter and I took that into consideration. Greens rolling really well and fast. Tee boxes were mostly really bad, fairways were okay, most covered in patches of poa annua but grass none the less. Most bunkers were totally neglected, and anywhere that wasn't the faiway or green was in pretty bad shape.
I'm eager for summer to see how big of a step this course can take back in the right direction. The layout and scenery are A+. Still not quite worth the drive unless you can pay $30ish.

Really fun course
Front nine was great! If you hit it well you can leave a wedge in. Back nine was a more difficult but definitely fun! Great course
