It's been a long time
I hadn't been to Pinewood Country Club in over 15 years. I had forgotten the layout and how nice it is. If you can't drive a ball straight, its going to be tough, as the fairways are quite narrow. The course is nice and the greens are at different elevations. There's the right amount of sand and water. It is a challenging course and I look forward to playing there again.
nice layout with interesting greens
The course is a somewhat flat layout winding through a series of homes. There is water on most holes, and and a wide variety of green slopes. The only issues were the length of grass in the fairways, which were somewhat wet. Well worth giving it another try in the spring.
Great Value, but those greens.
with a 12$ round off of golf now I decided I'd make the drive and give this course a shot.
the layout is comparable to Covington CC but plays shorter and is not as well maintained around the greens. It plays closer to Abita Springs GC conditions-wise although seemed much drier. The layout was visually pleasing and required some creative shots and the fairways were in better shape than I had heard, probably because it's rained and it's Feb. The greens (especially on the first 9) were more sand than grass, and the grass that was there looked like it belonged on whistling straights. Super slow, bumpy, and crabby, scoring with the flat stick was extremely difficult.
But for what I paid I can't complain. Tons of wildlife on the course which was enjoyable and overall a good time. Just don't count your putts
Needs a lot of work
While the layout is very good, the course condition is below par! The greens are nearly impossible and the fairways are little more than dirt. Bunkers are ridiculous. Were it not for a GolfNow discount, I wouldn't have chosen this course.
Very interesting track. Needs maintenance.
Great HOT deal on Golf Now. The course has a lot of water in play and most fairways have housing or lined with pine trees. Key to keep the ball in the short stuff. If you're a hooker or slicer you are in for a tough day on many of the holes.
Back nine in much better shape than front and we saw lots of people working but the truth is the course needs a lot of work; especially the greens.
Good value for the money. Would play again.
Outstanding service
Went through Golf Now and got a great deal. But, when arriving at the golf course, found out the course was blacked out and they offerred suggestions on where to play, as we were on our way to Biloxi.
The Pro went out of his way to accommodate my problem and was able to get us on Money Hill GC, a private course 40 minutes north.
Even though I really didn't get a chance to play this particular course, I had to fill out the circles to explain their role in my dilemma.
Enjoyable round
Friendly staff. Played midday during the week. Course only had a few groups out. Very good pace of play. Greens were in average condition with a lot of slope but not too severe. Water comes into play on several holes and fairway bunkers are in strategic positions so watch your map.Nice mix of long and short holes. Medium to narrow fairways with homes along outer perimeter of course. Would recommend. Great value.
Strategic
Don't always grab the driver, ball placement is key on many holes. Due to the lack of rain lately the greens were a little hard, so make your attacks to the green high with a lot of spin. Other than that the course is in great shape and fun to play.
Always fun to play here
Whenever I'm in Slidell I try to play here. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the value is great! Greens are rough in spots but they are obviously working hard to get them back to perfect.
Greens.
Greens are in terrible shape but on par with hot deal price. Pace was incredibly slow and crowded for mid-day on a Friday.
Pinewood Country Club
Well worth the money and always available to play!
coure needs a little TLC
enjoy the course, needs a little TLC. poor greens and fairways.
!st Time at Pinewood
It was crowded because of a tournament, and so they ran out of carts so I had to walk, which was OK because it was a very walkable course. My loan complaint would be waiting for service while people talked about the Masters..fine to chit chat but not when people are waiting
course just coming back
Looks like the course is about to start the growing season so I would give it about a month or two to get to where it should be. Greens weren't that bad considering the time of the year.
This course offers alot of driver Shots
A lot of fun with the Driver, Fast greens, a great challenge for average Golfer. Nice staff
Leon Perret
Great staff. Nice course. It rained earlier in the day but the drainage on the course is good so we didn't get too sloppy
Great Course, bad weather.
The course layout is great! The layout is link style with tight fairways. I played after the area had a lot of rain in the last couple of weeks, and that's is why I gave it a average condition score. The wet conditions made approach shots extremely difficult. I played here a few years ago in the spring, and conditions were great. The condition of the greens were pretty decent. The course has very nice, I just happened to play after a lot of bad weather. I will definitely play here again the next time I'm in town.
