High Price Booking Fee through GolfNow.com
If the green fees were any more, we would not have booked a time at this course. I realize that a golfer needs a minimum number of bookings to make the booking fee lower, but REALLY....$6.95 to make a time for two players is outrageous. I'll look for other discounts in the future.
Luke
dead spots in the fairways and greens. Forget about off a fairway. Bunkers aren't raked often or well. Basically it's a challenging course that's not taken care of. It's worth maybe $25. I think every other course in the area is kept up better.
Fairways and greens holding up well in the heat.
Overall condition of the course is pretty good considering our dry, hot summer.
Good place to start again for my wife, most of the holes are relatively open.
We arrived early and teed off early. There were mostly singles on the North. We never held anyone up, nor were we held up. We were not fast. We enjoyed our experience.
Good course, have some challenging holes, decent greens
Play here often when they have deals. A little overpriced if not. They have fantastic prices on Nike equipment and gear!!!! Foot Golf though :(
Meriweather Golf Experience
This course allows you to use all your clubs and is fair to all. the greens and fairways were in great shape for the hot weather we have experienced. We had a very early tee time and the pace of play was 4 hours.
Get ready for hard and fast greens!
Played the West/North courses on a Saturday. The starter was confused and there was a back-up. Contrary to other reviews however, after a 2 1/2 hour front 9, a marshal helped us through a slow group on the back and we finished in 4 hours. The course itself from the white tees only measures 6364 yards, but there are three par 4's that are 400 yards or more. The greens were very true, but hard to hold and very fast, since there has not been much rain here. As fast as the greens were, there were many that had some pretty severe slopes. Play short of the green and stay below the hole. But beware of many anthill-like greens where your ball may not roll up to the green! My first time playing, and thanks to a great rate on GolfNow, it was worth it. But I probably won't go back unless they soften the greens.
Looking good
Course in much better condition than years past. Keep improving.
great staff
The first two holes of the course looked more like a goat track than a quality golf course, but the rest of the course was much better.
very slow pace of play
It is interesting that a previous review on here (May 18) experienced the same slow men's club. We finished 11 holes in 3 hours 15 minutes and walked off the course. We were on pace for 5.5 hour round and that is inexcusable. Just as the previous reviewer stated, there was no marshall to be seen. As I returned the cart key, the proshop asked about my round. I explained how the slow play ruined the round. The pro-shop's explanation was " oh well, that's the men's club, we have a few new guys out there". THAT'S IT? Just an, OH WELL? Not sure how many $199 all you golf passes you can sell when prime time golf takes 5+ hours.
Slow play ruins a round
I'm sorry to say that left Meriwether National not very pleased. We were the first group playing after the Men's club and as we walked up to the 10th tee there was two groups waiting to tee off. It was 10:30 in the morning so I'm not sure what the hold up was. The entire time that I was playing the back nine on the north course there was not a marshall or starter to be seen. In fact there was not a starter on hole one or 10. I saw the marshal twice on the front nine but never again. There was at some points 10 to 15 minute waits between holes and the mens club members that were in front of us seemed not to care how slow or inconsiderate they were playing. We played the front in under 2 hours and it took us almost 3.5 hours to play the back. I might return to this course because it is nearish to my home but I was pretty disappointed about the speed of play from the mens club and the fact that the course was allowing such activity. Other than that the course was fun. I got a decent deal online for the round, I can't see myself paying full price for this course.
Good course
Meriwether is a good course. The course is well maintained, the staff is friendly and helpful. If you need lessons, they have affordable lessons and friendly, helpful pro staff as well.
I definitely recommend this course.
All Mondays should be like this.
First time playing and will be back for sure. Great staff! Played longer in time than I thought but that could have been the foursome too! Then rough is rough but thats the player not the course.
Thanks again
First time player
Overall, I would give this course a 5 star. I really enjoyed my round. I intend to play again in the near future. The only fault I found was the fairways were a little shaggy, but of course it's the 1st of March. Can't wait to play here this summer.
Excellent Conditions
Weather was almost perfect. Course was in excellent shape....
very accommodating to get you off if you show up early
Verry accommodating to get a tee time if you show up early.
Meriwether National
This was the first time I have played this course and overall it wasn't too bad. The day we played was sunny but chilly and a little breezy. The pace of play was good because there wasn't hardly anyone else on the course. Course conditions were just average, hard the tell the difference between the rough and fairway, but the greens putted pretty good. The staff was very friendly. Value was only average, $25 hot deal for golf in Nov. Would be better if they threw in the cart but this is an easy walking course. Food and the facility was excellent, they have a real nice bar and lounge. The only knock about this course is that it's across town from me so I might not get out there again.
