Great value, nice layout but conditions are poor.
If they would spend the money to maintain this course it could be a special place. Bunkers are hard packed clay with standing water in most, the sprinklers haven't worked properly in months, the fairways and greens need tremendous work.
Open Course with Rolling Hills
Very nice course with rolling hills. Most of the holes are open even if you were to slice or hook the ball. Fairways were nice to hit from for the month February. The par 3"s had a variety of different distances and mixed in in with par 4's and 5's. Will play again!!!
It was promised and they delivered
New Carts are nice! I enjoyed my round with my dad.
Not worth playing yet.
While the greens at Millstone r better than most. The fairways were horrible. Most of the round being in the rough was better than the fairways and the tee boxes were just as bad. I understand the winter freeze issue but, I have played several area courses and this was by far the worst. They need to mow some or their going to lose money. Doesn't matter if you charge $12 to play right now b/c almost Creek has better fairways and tee boxes. Very disappointed.
First timer
Enjoyed my round but did get lost due to missing sign on cart path , my error not the courses. When I played it was very wet which caused fairways not to be mowed till I was nearly finished with first 9. This was not a problem since mowers were behind me , but later groups might have been effected. All in all a great round except for my personal bad play.
Great Time
Course in good condition and pace of play was fast, what more could you want?
investment paid off
Millstone spent lots of money this summer to repair the winter/spring damage. It has paid off. It looks good.
Kinda blah
Course is very plain. No real character. One fairway looks like the next. Greens are splotchy. Bunkers are hard and not much sand. Fairways are not bad. Rough is deep Bermuda and it's easy to lose a ball a deer feet off fairway. The clubhouse and grille area are very nice. You get the feel that this has been a nice place that need some TLC and a couple of redesigns. We travel to this area and try new courses. We won't be back to this one.
Have always loved the fast and consistent greens
Very fair layout for the recreational golfer...location convenient to Smoky Mountains for those that vacation in the area.
Sunday golf
3:15 for a threesome to play. Conditions were good and heat is showing on some greens. Fun layout with challenge level for any to play.
great value
Course was in really good condition with the exception of a couple bunkers that were completely full of standing water. Hit a ball in one of those and it was gone unless you wanted to go wading and digging around in muddy water.
Overall experience was a good one. Fairways were in good shape and the greens rolled truer than any course I've played this year. I will be back soon.
Millstone
I had a good time, however the course was being serviced. Some of the greens was being heavily watered and I had to skip those particular holes alone with obstacles placed in the fairways where grass was being treated. Other than that it's a nice, challenging course.
Disappointed
I chose the course in a hurry while on a road trip because it had 4 stars and was affordable. It was in poor condition, I played the entire round ball in hand because of the poor conditions. Beautiful piece of land just not very well taken care of.
nice place
friendly staff, course is good for average golfers, greens fast the day we played. all around we were well pleased.
my opinion
The overall layout is good and wide open. It 9s very forgiving on most holes. This will allow you to recover from not so great shots. It is still a challeging course none the less. The only issue I really had was this course is in the worst shape that I have ever seen it. The fairways are pitiful. They have dead areas all over the course and numerous areas under reconstruction. The greens were ok, because they were just ariated, but still fast. This has been the case the last two times I have played here. I hope they can recover from this.
Great weather
The weather was fantastic. My only complaint was the mediocre condition of the fairways due to winter weather grass kill and current lack of rain.
Fairways
The fairways need some work. There was areas that had no grass in the fairways. Overall great place to take by daughters to play. The staff was very nice.
enjoyable
Course is not in bad conditions for this early in the spring. Greens were fantastic. The pace of play was horrible though. Large group in front of us who had no concern for the pace of play. No ranger on the course to move them along.
Our round took 5 hours and 10 minutes. And we had 2 single digit handicap golfers in the group.
We visit here regularly from Asheville NC.
golf day
The course was in great condition. The only complaint I have is that they, like so many courses over book.and we got behind.a foursome and a two.some that were playing slowly and they didn't let.the.people behind.them.play through. We.had.booked and Millstone let the twosome go before.us and they were walk inns with.no reservations.
great conditions for winter
Although dormant the fairways were mostly full . . . greens were in above average condition for winter. Windy . . . but typical for Millstone Overall great condition for February
