Tatum Ranch Golf Club
About
The course at Tatum Ranch Golf Club is a true desert course due to its placement adjacent to the beautiful Sonoran Desert. The course has a target-style design that features subtly rolling fairways and greens that are large and undulating. Water hazards come into play, some in the form of ponds. There are also several sand bunkers strategically placed throughout but especially around the greens. The course is a challenge, but it offers a fun, fair game for golfers of all skill levels. Its location near residential areas causes the occasional appearance of homes on the course. Tatum Ranch Golf Club's signature hole is the par-3 11th hole, which requires great control. Although the hole is not long, it is difficult with a narrow, guarded green.

Challenging yet fun.
I played this course just prior to them closing for overseeding.
Even though they were drying out the course, it was in good shape. The fairways were harder than normal but the greens were in great shape. I would play this course after the overseeding. Play was slow due to poor spacing of twosomes and foursomes but overall a good course for the money.
Nice course off the back tee's
This is a nice course with a great clubhouse. The practice area is very nice with larger putting green and a large chipping green with practice bunker. Large range with free practice balls.
The course was presented well and the greens are fast. Fairly flat but not a pancake. Good days golf and worth a visit.
Good Value - Fun Course
Pace of play is good, greens are smooth and fast, good variety of holes
A very enjoyable round of golf
Great course, very narrow fairways, not a lot of forgiveness.
Amenities are wonderful. Play it again in a heart beat. Staff very friendly.
Excellent practice facility, very friendly staff, great golf course
Excellent practice facility, very friendly staff, great golf course
Friendly staff
Played in heat of summer. Course was a little dry and fairways had brown in places BUT considering the time of year, the course was in pretty good shape. Would recommend to a friend, staff was very friendly. One suggestion, ditch the mats on the PF no excuse to use them ever in the desert southwest.
To difficult for the average golfer - greens not receptive to good shots.
The only thing made the round worth playing, was being paired up with a great family of three other golfers. I had read the previous reviews and concur with their comments.
It started at the Bag Drop Area where there were no Staff to take my clubs. It appears they were all used in preparing for a 1 p.m. Scramble Event, and forgot there were other golfers booked for that day.
Although the course lay-out was pretty good, the majority of the holes are to long for the average golfer, and what makes it even more difficult is that the greens are much to hard and do not hold on your approach shots to the green. I am a 2-hdcp golfer and had great difficulty in trying to hold the greens with my approach shots. Well hit shots to front or middle pins bounced high and rolled off the back of the fast and undulating greens. There was absolutely no way to get shots to land close to pins unless you played short of the greens and got lucky with the bounce and roll.
There are several really long par 4's on this course and no way to get the ball to stop on the greens, even hitting short irons into them for better players. Average golfer's would be hitting fairway woods or rescue clubs into them with no chance.
Unless you had played there before, it was difficult to navigate around the course to find the next hole as no signs were used to direct you to the next tee. The distance from tees to many of the fairways is to great for average golfers which requires lots of time looking for mishit shots.
The greens were quite fast for average golfers and with the undulations, make three and four putts quite common if you do not like fast greens when putting. Good speed for a tournament event, but slows up play again for average golfers.
At the end of the round, again there were no Staff Members to assist in cleaning clubs, bag removal, or taking the back to the Bag Drop area for pick-up. Ironically, they have signs posted that say, "No bags allowed on the Patio Area" so we had to carry out bags around the club house to the parking area and then come back to the Patio for drinks. Not very golfer friendly in my opinion.
Overall, the lay-out was good, the greens are to hard, the Staff was not available to assist before or after play with clubs, and I would say the Club Manager needs to have a meeting with his Staff, add some directional signs to tees on the course, and make the course more golfer friendly.
There are better courses to play in the area for the money that are more golfer friendly and more enjoyable to play, especially for the average golfer.
Good course to start vacation
Not a super hard course. You don't have to carry over to many landing areas. Pretty much what you see is what you get. The greens were very fast, but didn't seem to have a full cover of grass on them. Pretty good layout with some well bunkered greens. Some of the greens were tiny and the 18th was as big as a football field. Overall it was a good experience and I would return. We had to fly thru the last 4 holes and finished about dark.
Well maintained. Good Value
Nice to play a private club. Good pace, well maintained, and great greens. The fairway was a little brown in some spots but not bad. The driving range is in the middle of two holes, which can get littered with range balls (which are white) which can make it a little annoying or difficult to identify your ball. Course is not too challenging ( no blind shots, only one water hole) so it will be fun for all levels
Tatum Ranch Golf Club
I picked a great day to play Tatum Ranch for the very first time. The weather was great albeit at 102 degrees, with a breeze, and the course was almost completely empty (no average 4.5 hour round today). Thanks goodness for NFL Football Sundays! My round only took me 3 hours and I played from the tips...expecting a more challenging course than I experienced, hitting my irons off of most of the par 4's and only needing to breakout the big stick on the lenghty par 4's and 5's. The course was in great condition and the team working today from the the pro shop, starter, ranger, check in and check out staff were exemplary. They provided membership treatment to the members and public alike.
