SunRidge Canyon Golf Club provides adventure amid natural terrain over 6,823 yards of par-71 golf. The golf course was laid out by the golf course architect Keith Foster, who hid the golf course in the ridges and canyons of the foothills of the McDowell Mountains, one of the last untouched bastions of the Southwestern United States.

The SunRidge Canyon Golf Club's signature hole is the 17th, and it is unique, giving golfers the option of shooting a 209-yard, par 3 over a box canyon today and then going for a 152-yard par 3 from an elevated tee tomorrow. Foster discovered the elevated-tee opportunity during a tour of the golf course while it was being constructed and added the Canyon set of tees right then. The vistas he knew golfers would get were enough to convince Foster to set up the second set of tees.

After a round of golf at the SunRidge Canyon Golf Club, head back to the Ridge Room, which attracts visitors and locals for the great view and Southwestern cuisine.

July surprise

What a pleasant surprise to find the course in such great condition at the end of July.
The greens were in great shape, as were the tea boxes and the fairways

Bad Taste…

First bad impression was having to pay an extra $9 fee that was different than what GolfNow said would be due at the course…the pro shop gave a rather dubious explanation blaming this on GolfNow go figure.
I loved the track and all of the practice areas…I was struck about how the golfer is forced to have a plan of attack for pretty much every tee shot…it’s a hard course and the back 9 played too hard for 90% of golfers…it’s uphill into the wind there is no way to reach several greens in regulation…honestly they should make the course a par 74 it’s that unfair.
I will be back when I can afford it…the draconian rule postings for no alcohol from off site and no carts in the parking lot rubbed me wrong…I play a lot of courses where a guy can drive the carts to the car good grief !

Phenomenal.

What a cool course! Elevation changes with water features & awesome views. Bring extra balls & be prepared for a few long par 3’s (one was over 235 yards). For playing in the summer, the greens were pretty good.. maybe a little furry but they were nice & soft which can be hard to find in the summer. Altogether, if you’re willing to drive out there, it’s a great course.

Good layout

Really good layout. I am sure this course is usually in good shape, just not currently. Fairways are toasted, thin and soaking wet. The greens were heavily verti-cut recently and in general, pretty poor. Pace of play was just AWFUL!! I would play it again just simply for the layout, only after it recovers tho.

Bunkers

For $185 I would expect there to be rakes in the bunkers. Many were missing. Also, the sand was like cement--very packed down and no margin of error for the club. Other than that it was great. But again, for that kind of green fee, it could have been much better.

Challenging....but fun!

Sunridge Canyon never disappoints. You know what you're up against when you get there, and it delivers. This is not an easy course!. World class views of the surrounding canyon mountains, beautifully landscaped, great practice driving range area. Course was in very good shape for early July.
Keep your drives straight and you'll score well, if not, it can be a tough round.. Greens are fast, and there are some hidden undulations, but again, this isn't a beginner's course. This is a course you need to play to get a feel for it, then play it again to score well...Definitely put this course on your must play list when visiting Scottsdale or Fountain Hills!!
