SunRidge Canyon Golf Club provides adventure amid natural terrain over 6,823 yards of par-71 golf. The golf course was laid out by the golf course architect Keith Foster, who hid the golf course in the ridges and canyons of the foothills of the McDowell Mountains, one of the last untouched bastions of the Southwestern United States.

The SunRidge Canyon Golf Club's signature hole is the 17th, and it is unique, giving golfers the option of shooting a 209-yard, par 3 over a box canyon today and then going for a 152-yard par 3 from an elevated tee tomorrow. Foster discovered the elevated-tee opportunity during a tour of the golf course while it was being constructed and added the Canyon set of tees right then. The vistas he knew golfers would get were enough to convince Foster to set up the second set of tees.

After a round of golf at the SunRidge Canyon Golf Club, head back to the Ridge Room, which attracts visitors and locals for the great view and Southwestern cuisine.

Good

I play here a couple times a year. The greens are always really quick, and it was no different today. Fast, but fair. They rolled pretty well. Fairways a little beat up due to summer heat. It’s a good layout, but tough! One of the tougher courses in the Phoenix area in my opinion

Looks like they are saving money by not moving green cups. They looked like there were 3 permanent ones they alternated.

Disappointing Conditions

I’ve played this course 30 times and for the time of year, maybe the worst shape I’ve seen it in at least going back a decade. Greens are usually pristine but now very splotchy, Playable still but not up to the usual standard. The rough around the greens is fine but the Bermuda that encompasses most of course is dead. Not dormant, dead. Fairways also look terrible. Bermuda is hardy so could come back but I’m afraid they may have lost it. For peak season and peak rates, the conditions are unacceptable. The best layout in the valley but this course needs serious work.

Great layout poor conditions.

Played this course many times and this was the worst I've seen it considering it was the highest I've played to play.

Slow pace-bumpy sandy-super fast greens

NOt worth the green fees. Pace play was 5 hours. To the point my daughter started reading a book at the par 3s due to having 5 groups waiting.
This course is off our list.

Challenging Course

Sunridge Canyon is an absolutely gorgeous layout.
I always try to book a round here when I come to Scottsdale to golf.
The course was in great condition and the greens were running very true and at a fair speed. The day was completely booked, yet the ranger maintained a good pace of play. We only had to wait on one par three. Many very challenging holes demand distance and accuracy. Bring your A game.

Not for $200+

It’s a good course but overpriced in my opinion. When paying north of $200 I expect premium everywhere. It’s nit picky, but 2/3 bunkers I was in had very little sand before compacted or very hard surface underneath making a standard bunker shot impossible. Super frustrating.

Other than that it was an enjoyable day. Very difficult course from any tee. Lots of target golf and strategy required. Blind tee shots where you can’t see the landing area. Greens were very quick compared to the standard courses around the valley.

Personally I won’t be back until the prices are reasonable, but it’s a good course.
