Kokopelli Golf Course
Located a short distance from Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix and Arizona State University, Kokopelli Golf Course is a championship length course that offers many interesting challenges. The rolling terrain creates sloping greens and undulating fairways. A majority of the teeboxes and greens are elevated as well. The course also has large multiple island tees and water hazards in the form of meandering lakes that come into play on several holes. The signature hole of Kokopelli Golf Course is the par-5 18th hole. The dramatic finishing hole calls for a shot off an elevated too followed by an approach shot past water to an elevated green.

This course could be good if it was in good shape. So much dirt everywhere, it’s a rarity to be in grass. Hopefully they can fix it up soon because it was rough.
Worst condition of ANY course I have seen in years!! Greens were bumpy, fairways were pitifully maintained, sand traps were so poorly maintained - there was standing water with algae growing in them. Pace of play was ridiculously slow, no marshals to move people along.
Will never play this course again!!
Some fairways are dirt not grass. Need some support. Greens need a little grooming speed inconsistent. Traps cannot be call sand traps without sand! Goose poop all over a lot of greens. Thanks for cart person service was good.
Just a mess
So I get in pay for my tee time, nothing's labeled so I have no idea where to go. Tee off I noticed that 70% of the fairway and rough is all just dirt but oh well the course had a nice layout and was a nice challenge. Then after the fourth hole turned to the fifth to see a swarm of high school golfers out there competing in a match that I was unaware of period i teed off at 4:45 by 517 I was standing on the fifth tee box confused, by 6:45 I was trying to pass by this high School match that I was unaware of and should not have been instructed to tee off on whole one rather the tenth hole period so much for paying for a round of golf and only getting about seven and a half holes. learn how to manage a property and when this is happening send golfers off on the back, your cart person said so himself. I will not do business with any Arcis course or kokopelli if I am not fully refunded. It is incredibly unfair to those high school girls to have golfers paying to go out there and play and have us behind them and we are not even aware of it. I think it's time for Arcis golf to wake up this is not their only course going down hill, have you seen superstition springs this summer? I sincerely wish you guys would get it together your golf course should be shut down for the conditions it's in anyways.
Won’t be back
I played this course a year ago. They were in the middle of lots of work being done and the 18th was closed for repair (which they didn’t tell until AFTER we paid). So, I figured I would go back and try it again.
First off, there was no starter. We just found the other two-some we were paired with and started on our own. We played early and had to wait on every single hole. It was dreadfully slow; almost 5 hours.
I could forgive everything else, but the conditions were terrible. The sand traps are literally mud. No sand at all (standing water in some and grass growing in others) Mud and dirt patches all over the fairways (there has been no recent rain). For $42 there are plenty other places to go in the valley to play. This could be a fun challenging course, but the conditions and pace of play are terrible. Only plus was that the greens were in OK shape.
In my opinion and you don't have to agree with it,this course has steadily gone down hill. Fairways always muddy with numerous sections of the course where there is no grass at all. Get one ore more feet off the fairway and you hit off hard pan or mud. Greens however were ok. All sand traps or what are supposed to be sand traps had no sand just mud. Some holes not as bad as others.About 80% of the holes (fairways, rough) had no grass in many areas.
Every golf course that arcis has on their card is in poor shape. This includes Kokopelli,Superstition springs and Stone creek. The only decent course on the card is The Raven. Cheap card for the money but courses are not good.
Looks like this is just another calculated attempt to let a golf course go to crap so they can rezone it and put houses in such a shame the lack of integrity some golf course owners and maintainers have or the lack thereof
Course has many unwatered fairways, playing in dirt or mud. A million hills. I took my brother to play and i was embarrassed. Greens were a little dry.
Long hot summer
The course was showing the result of a long hot summer. No sand in traps, fairways very dry and burned.
They have fallen on hard times.
I am not sure what’s going on with this course. Haven’t played this for a couple years and I am appalled by the condition. There was not a bunker that had any sand in them. There was grass growing in most of them.
The fairways are in terrible shape with giant patches of muddy dirt. The only bright spot was at least the greens are in good shape.
I can’t believe that this is the same course I used to play. It just seems that the owners have given up on any course maintenance. Very sad for what used to be a very nice track to play.
Hills and Swamps
Being my 1st time there. We had trouble finding the 1st hole. There's no signs pointing to it. So it took a minute to find. Sprinklers on at nearly every hole. Maintenance guys everywhere on the course. Nobody wants to see that. Grass cutters were extremely loud and just waited for us to play through. There was no accessible drinking water on the course. Seriously, that's a huge safety hazard. Course overall was in awful shape. You could hit it right down the middle and not be in grass on half of the holes. At $30 a person this course is extremely overpriced. I certainly won't return.
