Legend at Arrowhead, The
About
Located in the west valley, the Legend at Arrowhead Golf Club is an Arnold Palmer/Ed Seay-designed golf course with a traditional layout. The challenging course has six lakes creating water hazards on many of the holes and several doglegs. The difficult to read greens are undulating and in excellent condition. Each hole, except for one, has bunkering on the fairways or protecting the greens. Legend at Arrowhead Golf Club's signature hole is the par-4, 426-yard fifth hole. It calls for a shot off an elevated tee with water running along the right side of the fairway as well as next to the green.

Good alternative to the more “upscale” courses in the area.
Played The Legend at Arrowhed for the first time the other day. It’s an Arnold Palmer designed course (although I’m not sure Arnie himself designed it or his company). Nonetheless, it’s a very nice course. Elevated tees, elevated greens ( I found the greens to be a bit smaller than what I’m used to playing; I think Arnie favored smaller greens), water (that comes into play frequently), and lots of bunkers (fairway & greenside). However, Some of them have been turned into wasteland so you don’t have to play them like a designated sand bunker. But there still are plenty of bunkers to contend with. And the course winds through a community so the fairways are a bit tight on some holes. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Two faults I found was that it seemed to me the fairways had been a bit overwatered. We encounter wet areas in the middle of the fairway on just about every hole. The fairways are mounded on some holes so the water collects in the low spots. But it really didn’t affect play. The other issue was the “rough” was a bit bare on a few holes. Not a huge issue but I believe the rough should be grass grown higher than the fairway. All in all I found the The Legend to be a nice course that can eat your lunch if you don’t play smart. But Arnie was a go for broke guy so there some good are opportunities for birdies out there. I’ll definetly play there again.
Don’t let you finish your round
I live down the street from this course so I’ve played many times for years. I will not be going back after this outing. Firstly, there is no order. We had immature kids in front of us being slow and inconsiderate to anyone around. The two some behind us didn’t like the slow play so they decided to jump us without a word and now we are stuck behind both groups. This happened again at the end of the round.
But the absolute worst part was the finish. We had a later tee time so it was gonna be close to finish in time. However, we got to 18 with plenty of light to finish. Upon reaching our approach shots near the green standing over the ball to hit a 20 yard chip, a staff member came roaring in on a cart, rushed the green, took the flag and left. Not a word of anything and we were left to finish without seeing the hole. There was also a group behind us trying to finish as well. As we approached the cart return, no employee was to be found as I was going to give a piece of my mind.
Golf is already ridiculously expensive, but when I pay for 18 holes and you give me 17 1/2, I consider that stealing. I will not be coming back and everyone should be beware of this course.
love the course
everything was in great condition except the tee boxes could use a little bit of work, leveling. otherwise, i wouldn't let that from keeping me from coming back. pace on thursday morning/afternoon was excellent! weather was beautiful, a nice challenging course, which has become one of my top 5, especially at the price point. love the hole look variations. some courses i hesitate to pay $80-110ish...not this one
It’s jut Meh..
Don’t know why the course is so hard and shaved. There’s a big difference between the course Ed in Palm Springs than here being they have a nice foundation and grass the ball sits up nicely on. Who likes shaved hard pan… Had some interesting holes and lighting greens.
Great Day
Bit breezy, a little slow on pace 4.75 hour round
Course great shape
1st time here
Fairways greens and bunkers in great shape. 4 hr round so pace was excellant. Greens had some severe contour and were fairly fast and therefore challenging. All staff interactions were great
Like all AZ courses it is overpriced but got a good deal on GN. Would highly recommend for the right price
A Great Day at a Great Course
A terrific layout intermingled with water and hazards makes for an interesting and pleasantly challenging round. Pretty much every green is contoured and very challenging. They were fast and consistent on our day. The course was a bit dry which was nice on the drives but had to be accounted for when hitting into the greens. There are houses on all sides, so bring your straight clubs. :)
