Mountain Brook Golf Club
About
Nestled at the base of the Superstition Mountains, Mountainbrook Golf Club offers a player-friendly course with beautiful views of mountains and desert hills. Given its location, the golf course is mostly flat, making it a nice walk. The layout combines that of a desert course and a mountain course for an interesting variety of holes and challenges. The fairways are relatively wide and some are lined with trees and the fairly large greens are sloped and fast. Sand bunkers are situated throughout the course and two lakes create water hazards that come into play on the back nine. Mountainbrook Golf Club's signature hole is the par-5 16th, which has a dogleg left fairway and a green that is well guarded by bunkers and mounding.

Good value for money
You can’t find many courses for $60-$70 and I would rate course great for value. Good views of the superstition mountains. Putting was challenging for us but may have been an off day!
Affforable course in great condition
Enjoyed playing with nice people. Staff was professional and friendly. Nice conditioned course. Would definitely play again.
Great course in Gold Canyon
Nice course. The fairways and green were in immaculate shape. There was enough challenge to make you think a bit about club selection but not punishing by any means. It’s worth the drive.
Great middle of the road course
Nice course that won't break the bank... better than most courses under $100/round. Course was clean and well maintained. Pace was a bit slow but it still moved along pretty well.
Ridiculous Policies/Refusal to Do What’s Right
Refused to refund or offer rain checks due to it being their policy, very unfair and unethical tactic to squeeze every dime out of visitors without needing to provide a service. Coincidentally, they also do not allow cancellations within 24 hours of a tee time either.
We came in from out of state to enjoy the WM Phoenix Open, and of course get some golf in. This was obviously a trip booked in advance along with the details including the round of golf booked. The weather was not cooperating and even though we are from Michigan and more than willing to get golf in during less than ideal conditions in February, 40 degrees, pouring rain, and 20 mph winds were not going to let us finish this round - MANY courses wouldn’t even have remained open or allowed golfers out. We kept an eye on the weather leading up to our round and knew it would be crappy, but the course has a policy to not allow cancellations within 24 hours of a tee time, so even when it was all but certain the weather would suck we had to give it a shot, which we were willing to do. The pro shop also had a sign that said “No Rain Checks” and we were told “you know what you’re getting into, so no refunds or rain checks,” prior to heading out. Policies were indeed made clear. My issue is not with hiding any policy, but instead with the fact that they have outrageous policies to begin with and refuse to bend on those policies and then keep $130 for a round of golf at an average course and a small bag of range balls - when you have visitors from out of state and booked well in advance. It would be a little different if we walked in asking for a tee time on the spot and could clearly see the weather to deal with. When I approached the pro shop attendant he could only say he’s not the owner and can’t do anything about it, I asked if that seemed reasonable to him and he repeated the same thing. I’m not going to cause a scene on the spot with an attendant who has no say, but for there to be no GM or owner on site to deal with and to be blindly enforcing an unfair policy is awful business. I’ll be leaving this review in as many places as I can. If these policies are common practice in the area, then some serious ethics questioning needs to be brought up - at that point it seems they’d be praying for rainy days so they can send workers home and not have to any golfers out there and just rake in some profits.
Always a pleasure
Love the Mountain views, and good prices. Not the easiest course around, nor the hardest. Less than a mile from our home.
Bar and restaurant are very good also. Friendly and helpful staff.
