Good course
Went on as a single and found the track to be quite fun. Rental set was decent but very game improvement-ish (understandable). Rogue everything.
Overall a good layout. Conditions were generally good. Fairways were excellent, greens were ok but rolled nicely, bunkers were fine, yardage was on most sprinklers but no 100 yard markers?
Would play again if the price was right. Played with 3 others who all paid far less than me (sad face).
Staff was friendly as well. Beverage cart was around often and finished in 4 hours. Didn’t eat so can’t comment on that.
Excellent course for all levels
Excellent course for good to mid levels players, pace was good course was in good shape. Staff was excellent good food at the turn and end of round.
Disappointed
For a Troon course I thought it would be in better condition.
Good course to play
Keeping it simple. Course fairways were in great shape and greens were good as well. Got a great deal on internet and would definitely play again. We played this course once before but it's in much better shape now. If you get a chance I suggest you give it a try.
Rain!!!!!
Loved the course. Had to quit because of the rain.
Poorly marked and Poor COMMUNICATION
I was playing with two locals who live on the course. I did not see any signs about how far can you take the cart near the green. I was about 50 yards from the green and chipping up when a marshal tells me I need to exit thru two green stakes behind me. NO ONE MENTIONED THIS TO ME BEFORE THE ROUND. THIS IS UNPROFESSIONAL.
FURTHER THE STAKES ARE N O T THERE ON ALL THE HOLES. TRAIN YOUR MARSHALS TO BE WORTHY OF A TROON COURSE.
FINALLY ON THE 18TH HOLES THERE WERE SIGNS FOR CARTS TO EXIT THE FAIRWAY. THE MARSHAL SAID THEY DID NOT USE THESE SIGNS. MAYBE HE WAS HAVING A BAD DAY.
My playing parthers said they were never told this by the marshals.
IMMACULATE FAIRWAYS
This is the best Troon course I've played.and the best fairways and greens of the forty courses I've played in the greater Phoenix area. Greens very receptive. I wish Poston Butte fairways and greens were in this condition. Only negative is the course has houses bordering most of the fairways and a lot of construction going on.
Golf Club Of Estrella
Excellent conditions friendly staff, pace of play was good, was able to play the course at a great price through Golf Now.
Awsume=
Course was in emaculate condition, the sand bunkers could use some tender car=
Terrible customer service. Nice course
The course was in really good shape and the greens were the best in Phoenix. They were smooth rolled pure and very receptive. Don’t expect much from the people that work there though. I always play Troon courses because of the way they make you feel from the time you pull up until you leave. This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had at a golf course. When I went inside to check in I was the only person in line and it took 2 minutes before the man asked if he could help me then I told him my name and all he said was “you paid on golf now you are good to go.” I then said Sir we have never played here, where is the driving range? Are there balls out there? Where is the first tee? The things that are usually explained when you get to a course. When we finished we pulled up to the cart return area and again were not acknowledged so we decided we would just drive our cart to our car since we were not being assisted, the 2 young men yelled at us that we couldn’t take the carts in the parking lot. I explained if they weren’t going to acknowledge us or assist us then how can they not let us drive our bags to our cars. VERY VERY disappointing experience!
Fall Golf
The course is in excellent condition. Being that it is the fall season there is some wet/damp areas. That's normal for this time of year. The greens were very smooth. A bit faster than I expected. Fairways and tee boxes were green and in great condition. The only thing that needs improvement is the bunkers. Most were muddy with very little sand in them. Of course if you stay out of them then you wouldn't have to worry.
Great course in the mountains
Estrella is a very nice course, taking full advantage of its desertic mountain setting.
Conditions were superb, beverage cart came around often, distances are well identified, and the beginning and end of the course have superb views.
The middle is a little bit more flat, and has some noisy power lines running across several holes, bringing the experience down a little. I think holes 10 and 11 in particular could be moved or rearranged to be more out of the way and therefore more natural.
But other than that, it's a fun course and a great value for your money, with great receptive and fast greens, and a few tougher holes that will require some skill.
Always a pleasure
Best range in the area for sure
Best range balls always fresh
Love the track
Troon does it right
This course is for all types of players. Nice layout with a view of the mountains.
