Nice Course

Only played 9 holes today so my review reflects that. I played the front 9.

Course was in great shape. Greens were smooth and rolling fast, course sign said 12. This is a fairly challenging layout but not intimidating. Very playable but there is trouble out there. What I like is the designer didn't overuse bunkers as a defense. They are present but avoidable with correct yardage and smart play. Some water in play and a booklet with pictures of each hole is in every golf cart to help you see your targets.

The place feels like a private club with a friendly staff and cart attendants. Practice facility is one of the best in the area with a full driving range, chipping green and putting green.

The only negative I have, and this is nitpicking, is there are not a lot of great views and the course is not very memorable. That said, I will play this course more often in the future.

Good find

Just happened on this course and was really impressed with the layout and conditions. Great greens challenging course as well! Has a bit of it all and was a little gem. About a 25min uber from the airport. So was doable after we landed at 12:30.

Good course bunkers a terrible

Good layout good course thebunkers are so hard and have so little sand it's like hitting of a clay tennis court just awful. The course ranger got on the group I was paired with a 3 some we were7 minutes behind pace after the turn and there was no one behind us and he was going to have us skip hole. Had we done that we would have been placed ahead of the group in front they had just gotten to 12 green when we hit our tee balls on 12 a little common sense would go a long way. Plus he was a jerk about it the foursome behind us was a full hole behind. No one out there it was 95 degrees. We caught up and waited on 14, 15 16 and 17.

Nice course but hampered by very slow pace

Was looking forward to playing the course but unfortunately the pace of play hampered our experience. The course itself was great- nice layout and some long holes. Would like to play it again when it’s not 3 groups deep waiting to tee off on every hole

Fun round of desert golf

Course is well laid out and challenging. Very enjoyable day of golf. However, the staff did not provide any information without being asked. For example, they could ask if you've played there before, do you need Range balls, They could also tell you that they will give you cart keys when it's time to head out to the first tee. The welcome and communication could be improved immensely. You are in the hospitality business, but it doesn't show.

First visit to Longbow

This is a good course: well laid out with a good mix of length and accuracy required. We played the Green/White tee combination so length was not really an issue. Ended up with a mid to short iron in my hand for most of the par 4s. Par 5s are reachable for longer hitters and it has one driveable par 4.

What really makes this course though are the greens though. They are well contoured and relatively quick. Pin positions can be tucked and there are not a lot of straight putts on any of the greens. They rolled beautifully throughout.

Only complaint would be the greenside bunkers: they had to be either missing their full measure of sand or they had to have been soaked the night before. In any case, it was difficult to judge the correct strike to extricate the ball consistently.

Certainly not the cheapest course in the valley but it is one of the better ones. I highly recommend a visit, it is well worth the trek out to the east side of town to try it.

None

When putting golfers out with couples maybe inquire as to the tee they play or hndcp!! My wife and I play different tee box as most couples. Why join us with 2 single males that also play different tees?? Let us enjoy our round by ourselves and send them out with equivalents! Playing black and blue. Slow play and like being by ourselves anyway!

A great experience!

Longbow is one of those great courses that simply does everything right. The staff are super friendly and helpful and the course layout is challenging yet fair. There are no blind shots or houses/condos lining the fairways and the course is always in great condition. There is no GPS on the carts but each cart is supplied with a course layout guide. It’s the little things like wooden, not plastic tees, complimentary iced bottled water and fresh cookies on arrival that make Longbow special.

Missed Details

First things first, the course is in great condition and an excellent layout. BUT, with a green fee of $110+tax I expected a lot more. Bag drop was OK but nothing special. Check in was rote and left out some key info like who and how would they call our tee time and then give us a key to the cart. I had to walk around and look for a key to be told by the cart barn guy how it worked. Wanted to make a day of it and got there early to have breakfast as they promote their restaurant pretty good. Counter lady was super friendly but to a fault as she oversold the food. Bagel egg sandwich was marginal as this wasn’t really a bagel. It may have said bagel on the package but was really white bread in a bagel shape- spend a little more money and use real bagels. Other item was a Skillet Scramble which was described as if you really like good potatoes mixed in then this the one. What came was 1/4” cubed frozen fried potatoes that were greasy and virtually hollow inside- you know the ones that look like potatoes but aren’t really! These were simply topped with an over cooked scramble. This is not a skillet type dish so change the name in addition to using real potatoes or getting better frozen ones. Lastly, at this price it’s a minimum expectation that we’d get a clean cart but no such luck. The cart was dirty all over. This is not what I expect from a Troon property and certainly not at this price. Management needs to kick it up a notch and pay more attention the details. Props to the course Superintendent as this was the star!--

Very much enjoyed!

Everything was great. Had a fun round. As I do not own a range finder would be nice to see distance markers but we survived. I am a mid teens handicap and felt comfortable. Had a few pars and a birdie on a par 5. Lost a few balls though but found enough to make up for it! Great day, awesome course, will be back.
