The golf course at Red Mountain Ranch & Country Club is a beautifully designed layout set against a desert landscape with rock formations, mesquite trees, and cacti. Pete and Perry Dye designed the course, combining both beauty and challenge. This championship course was built on rolling terrain and has large, sharply contoured greens and extensive mounding that is reinforced with railroad ties. There are not only deep sand bunkers but also grass bunkers protecting the greens. There are also four ponds on the course at Red Mountain Ranch & Country Club, but only three create water hazards that come into play on four holes. A notable hole on the course in which water comes into play is the sixth, a hole that has a peninsula green with water surrounding it along three sides.

First time at this course. Fairways in great shape, greens were just sanded, so putting was not good. Would like to get back when greens are good. Overall a good first impression.

Second time I have played here. Unlike many Pate Dye courses, this one doesn’t beat you up so much off the tee, but puts a premium on approach shots and short game.

Starter told me that the members call him Pete F. Dye because of the difficulties around the hole, both the greens and around the greens. I really enjoyed the course and will come back again.

The course was in great shape, the greens were very hard and not very receptive to well struck shots.

The greens were running very fast and seemed dried out.

Overall the course was in great shape with softer greens it would’ve been a five rating

Played 18 holes of summer golf on a great golf course today. I really enjoy this course with challenging holes and not a cookie-cutter layout. The staff is extremely friendly and very helpful. Pace of play is always phenomenal at red Mountain Ranch . I always enjoy your round of golf on this course.

I played this course in 105+ weather, but had so much fun playing it that I didn't realize it. I went out as a single and finished in around 3 hours. The design is great for desert golf and every hole had a unique design. Grass was greener than any other course I had played so far this summer. Would play again in a heart beat.

Pace of play was very good for a Saturday morning. Couple people in front of us but ended up pairing with a local couple that helped navigate the course. Target gold with very nice fairways and very true greens. Awesome course for the price, will be back!

Is only fair to say the course is well maintained and challenging, but why has management not marked the :T-boxes as to which hole is being played and placed an arrow on the cart paths as to direction to next T-box. Very frustrating and a guessing game on directions to next hole. Yes an expensive book shows next holes but cart paths confusing. Not good course if markings are important to especially first time players.

Fitting that we played a Pete Dye course on the weekend of the Players Championship. Challenging, interesting layout, with Red Mountain always prominent. Lots of moguls around the greens, so bring your short game. Challenging, fast, undulating greens. Get the fish tacos and a few Shiner Bocks when you're done. Nice people. Great value.

I usually find Pete Dye courses are not to my liking as they can be overly punitive. This is not the case with Red Mountain Ranch! It is a fair and challenging course with some fun holes. I will definitely play it again the next time I visit the desert!
