Red Mountain Ranch Country Club
About
The golf course at Red Mountain Ranch & Country Club is a beautifully designed layout set against a desert landscape with rock formations, mesquite trees, and cacti. Pete and Perry Dye designed the course, combining both beauty and challenge. This championship course was built on rolling terrain and has large, sharply contoured greens and extensive mounding that is reinforced with railroad ties. There are not only deep sand bunkers but also grass bunkers protecting the greens. There are also four ponds on the course at Red Mountain Ranch & Country Club, but only three create water hazards that come into play on four holes. A notable hole on the course in which water comes into play is the sixth, a hole that has a peninsula green with water surrounding it along three sides.

Fairways were thin. Lies were inconsistent. It was the only real negative we experienced
Go elsewhere
Staff was great. Cant say enough about them. Course is an absolute ripoff. Gone to trash. So many issues. It’s a shame. Way way overpriced. At $70-$80 it’s ok. Maybe. Look forward to a few years from now after someone buys it.
I’ve always enjoyed this course…
…actually I enjoy pretty much all of Pete Dye’s courses and this one is no different. The layout is pretty challenging and you need to pay attention to your misses…if you miss in the wrong place you may end up with a large # on your scorecard. Choose your tee box wisely, it seems to play a bit longer than the yardage on the card. The course was generally in decent condition with the exception of the bunkers, sand, or lack thereof, was a problem. The greens were also pretty slow, but on the flip side if they were faster some of the pin placements would have been almost impossible. All in all a good, fun round though!
just a great day..
Course wasn't long at all. Playing it for the first time my range finder and the yardage book was necessary to get around the track. Pace of play was right at 3 1/2 hours and that wasn't rushing in any way. Staff was fantastic. Lance gave me the best tips ahead of the round. Will absolutely be playing again!
Better Communication
So, second time playing here in the last few weeks, was the day after Christmas, so it seemed they were under staffed.
Course was full, no beverage cart, no problem BUT, tell us when we checked in so we could get some refreshments.
Staff in the restaurant, where you could get beverages at the turn, seemed very uninterested, like, what are you doing here?!
Bag staff were quite unfriendly (borderline rude), complete change from the last time I played here!
Pro-staff and players assistants were great, just need some better management!
Tough greens
Great track. Conditioning needed work in a few places but generally great. Super friendly staff.
Mesa magic
The condition of the course and the layout is exceptional. The staff was friendly and helpful. I will be back.
A more active course marshall to keep pace would be my only suggestion for improvement.
Fun layout, slow greens
Really fun to play a Dye designed course. Full of hills, need to be accurate on your approach, target practice. Only hit driver on a few holes. Memorable course to play with a lot of unique holes, great views of the valley and mountains. Course is in a great residential community where the homes aren't too close to the course.
Great rough, fairways were in great condition. Bunkers were mud instead of sand on a few holes. Greens were extremely slow and did not roll well. Really patchy growth in different spots on the green, balls would hit overgrown grass and slow way down.
8 minute tee time intervals slowed things on the back 9. No GPS on carts. Food available at the turn, each 9 ends at the clubhouse.
Great course
Greens a little slow, but otherwise course in excellent shape. Outstanding practice facilities, with the exception of no greenside bunker to practice from. Would give 5 stars but for those two issues. Will definitely play this course again when the opportunity presents!
Single player
Pared up with “three gentlemen” from Edmonton. Slow play, constant bickering and vulgar language spoiled my day. I finally left after the 15 hole as I couldn’t take any more.
Too Tricked Up!!
Pete Dye is known for his tricked up courses, with limited view of landing areas off the tee, giant undulations in the middle of the fairway, deep gullies all around the greens, and railroad ties everywhere! Well, this course is full of all of the above. Miss the fairway by a few yards, and there's a good chance you lose your ball. Way too tricked up to be considered a good golf course, especially in the Phoenix area. Dozens of WAY better courses to spend your $150 on, that will give you a more fair & enjoyable day of golf. Plus, they were just coming off the re-seeding outage, so the greens were painfully slow, and there were many wet & sloppy areas in the fairways. Go to Longbow GC just down the road for a MUCH better layout, nicer condition, and playable golf course! Get to the Legacy GC as well... much better!

What happened to the greens?? Play this course at least 5-6 times from November through March and they have never been this bad.
A nice Pete Dye course
I played early in the morning so the pace of play was great. I really enjoy the desert setting courses, challenging, but beautiful. The course had been recently over seeded so some greens were cut longer than others which added to the challenge. For me the back nine was more difficult than the front nine. I’d play the course again.
the course was in good shape after overseed. Pace of play was under 4 hrs.
