This course has some great views
We enjoy playing this course, even though there is some work that needs to be done on the cart paths and some better carts. They work hard around the course to make it better.
Course is working to improve conditions.
Kino Springs is challenging as tee shots require accuracy especially #5 through #13. The fairways have recently been over seeded and carts were required on paths or through rough areas on sides of fairways. Tee shots were not getting much roll due to wetness from watering the over seeding. Greens were soft and holding. Greens were in good shape for the most part and looked faster than they actually were. It was good to see that Kino Springs was working to improve overall course conditions. The course is truly great to play and the views from the inner holes is great as well.
Another Great Day at Kino Springs
Course was being prepared for over-seeding but was still great for playing. Had the place to ourselves and it was a great day.
Kino is surviving
Love the course, greens are great but fairways are dry and browning out. Lack of water for what ever reason. Please allow Kieth to do his thing and give him the money to bring the course back to his vision!
Scenic Round of Golf
Course was not busy and allowed our group to play at a good pace. Tee boxes and fairways showed some stress, but overall were in good condition. Greens had been recently punched, so they were with challenge considering line and speed. This course starts out somewhat easy, then goes up into the mountains, which do not allow errant shots. It finishes on relatively flat lands but still maintains its challenge. This is a very enjoyable course to play and enjoy your surroundings.
Interesting course set in a beautiful valley
Not your average course. Half the holes have extreme elevation changes. The greens are smooth and quick. I would play there more often except for the out of the way location, but that makes the round more of an event.
Great layout and design
You play Kino Springs and you use every club in your bag. Great variety and scenery. Terrific greens have always been a hallmark for Kino Springs. Most interesting combination of design and playability. White tees are so much fun. Blue tees
Are very challenging. Highly recommended experience!
Southern Arizona gem
Great views, fantastic layout, plenty of blind shots and elevation changes. The staff is very friendly and courteous. The history of the place makes it worth the trip. A little off the beaten path but worthy of a look.
Great
The history of this place is fantastic, the staff is great, I would not call this a desert course.
First time playing this course
They were aerating the course. We played nine holes one day and the other nine holes the next day. We had a great time.
Good Course
I like playing there. It is really challenge actually because a lot of elevation changes. Grounds is getting hard, but greens are fast and put good.
More than 100 Rounds
A sweet little gem, well maintained and one of Red Lawrence's better designs. Spectacular views dominate this course (do look at the website's photos). I was a member here when I was spending more time in Nogales caring for my Dad who had Alzheimer's. We played the course every few days for a number of years and knew it intimately. It is a sporty course as it is shortish even from the tips. It has a fun opening hole with an elevated tee 2 is a 200 yd one shot, keep below the hole and you'll be rewarded. 3 is an elegant two shot 4 is a tricky short par four with a early dogleg and uphill approach. 5 is a quirky hole. Six is a gimmick hole that should be redesigned, unless you can hit a big draw it forces the player to hit a short iron off the tee. Seven is a handsome short par three. Eight and nine are similar short par fours, yet uphill with challenging greens. Ten is a classic risk or reward hole, with many slopes. Eleven is a challenge from tee through green. Twelve is a fun par three where the drink cart hangs out in the shade.. Thirteen has a tight tee box and danger lurking on the left. Fourteen is not a pretty hole , but is tight and provides a challenge. despite its soft ranking. Fifteen is scenic and longish, sixteen is a receptive par three. Seventeen is a birdie hole and the home hole is a unique challenge.
The hacienda has a rich history and inviting veranda. There are good children and young adult programs, the staff is led by Keith who is very affable and knowledgeable, Pops and I really loved our time there. It is hard for me to play there as I cry like a baby at all the memories. It is easy to get a game and tee time. Occasional tournaments and leagues are fun too! Nice people, fun place, outstanding value and not to be missed.
On the border.
Have played this course 8-10 times over the years.
Mexico is in sight and the surrounding views are beautiful; a respite from the bustle of city life. This is Stewart Granger's former ranch and holds some Movieland history. Off the beaten path, fresh air, hills to climb, etc. Go and play, it is worth the drive.
Very Good Course Conditions
The staff at Kino have done an excellent job in getting this course back into very good condition. Tee boxes and fairways were in great shape and visually appealing. The greens were in very good condition, firm, and with green speeds average plus. Putting lines held well and not much change on speed from green to green. Only issue I saw was the bunkers having little sand and very firm under what sand was evident. You had to be very careful on bunker shots so as to not hit thin. Overall the course is the best I've seen in long time.
Would not call it a desert course
Great course layout, lots of elevation changes and blind shots.
