About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2019.
The Club West Golf Club offers 18 holes on a Brian Whitcomb-designed golf course that was originally built in 1993 and measures 7,142 yards from the championship tees on a par-72 golf course.
Club West Golf Club claims the 17th as its signature hole. It features double-greens, tees elevated 100 feet above the course and vistas of South Mountain and of the Estrella Mountain Range; players ought to pick the green they desire and then check the yardage. If the wind isn't blowing you back, pick one less club than usual, aim right and swing smoothly.
After the round, head over to the Club West Golf Club's clubhouse, which is the gorgeous home of the Lakeside Grille, which serves breakfast and lunch inside the stunning dining room or on a spacious patio featuring a fireplace and lake view.

This course Sucks!
I usely don't write bad reviews......Can't help it this time. 39.00 to play and we should of wondered why there was nobody on the tee, in the fairway.
The course is down right awful, from tee boxes to no grass in the fairways to awful greens....if that weren't enough no yardage markers and the fairways were sprayed green to give the impression of a green grassy course......I will not play that course ever again and if anyone asks I will not be nice to the course. Do not waste your money.
Once again, the Foothills group is a disappointment.
First, let me say that I have never been a big fan of this course to begin with. The layout is not that good. The driving range has always been kind of a joke. You hit balls down into what amounts to an open desert pit. You could mostly count on decent playing surfaces on the course. This is no longer the case. The whole course is no pretty dried and hard. The fairway is still there, but is already starting to go. The greens are TORCHED.......what good is it to play a shot into the green, only to watch the putts hop around like a jumping bean? The Foothills group seems to keep all their courses in this " barely playable " condition. Enough for me.....there are too many other courses at that price that are just better.......
Nice staff! Poor course conditions!
The staff were friendly and helpful. The greens were in terrible shape! Fairways were pretty dry. Not worth the drive out there.
course is in terrible condition again.
The course is having water issues once again. This could mean they may be shutting down play once again during the summer
Ground like hitting off concrete.
Very slow foursome in front of us. No Ranger to keep them moving. We stopped after 3+ hour front nine.
I golfed there three years ago and conditions were is Year, the greens were very bumpy and the course was very dry and yellow.
Very surprised at condition of course, was in poor condition for this time of the year.
Course Condition
Course was in terrible shape. Fairways & greens had many bare spots
This course is hoing down hill
Greens looked like it had cancer, fairway balled/burnt spots everywhere. Considering summer has not even arrived yet, the course was horrible. Will never play again.
Disappointing
I played club west about two years ago in the summer and really hadn't been back since. I've always known them to have a nice course. I read the reviews before going and id have to say, i think people were a little over the top about the fairways. They are in summer condition hands down, but the greens i will fully agree with people on. The greens were bumpy and horrid. Ive played greens in mid summer that were better than these. I'm not sure what they are going through but id hope by next winter they get it together. Only reason i'm not recommending to still go and play is due to the greens. I can over look the fairways due to being an avid Az summer golfer, i'm used to it. The greens though really ruined the round for me. Its a great course, i hope they get things worked out.
Fairway grass needs good maintenance .the course layout is challenging
Good Price. Horrendously Maintained Course
I am assuming at one time that this course was a go-to venue. The holes are designed nicely and you have to use most of the clubs in your bag. BUT..... the fairways and greens were the worst I'd ever walked on. Brown fairways. Crusty, pock-marked greens. Obviously a serious lack of H20 issue. In addition to playing on such a rundown course, I had to leave after nine because of the SLOWWWWW pace of play. Not a fun experience at all... Within 150 minutes, it was my first time on this course - and alas, the final one as well.
Too dry ... club west
The course is not being adequately
watered . The greens are terrible due to this lack of watering. So much sand you cannot read anything.
Nice layout but poor course management. Also slow pace ... need someone to manage pace
Nice Layout, Could Use Some Help
First time I played CW this year. I usually play it 5-6/year, as I enjoy the layout, elevation changes and overall course structure. Excellent customer service in clubhouse and starters/cart girl.
The biggest challenge is that it's still early April after a pretty substantial rainy season and the course is already as dry as it usually is in July/August. CW would never, even in its best days, be described as lush, but normally a good drive would find a good lie in short green grass. Now, even a solid drive in the middle of a fairway has a chance had a fairly hardpan lie. This helps distance on drives, but wreaks havoc on second shots into the green.
Tee boxes needed work, especially #1 and #17, which doesn't look like any sod has been replaced in at least three years and could conceivably be confused with a bunker, there's so much sand (I played from Blues). Greens were also quite sandy, but still fairly smooth and held lines well. Bunkers (I was in 4) had limited sand (1" or so) and a lot of rocks and pebbles. Very challenging from which to hit.
Overall, the layout is enjoyable, the staff is excellent, but the course need to splurge on a little water to make it more playable.
How dry I am
Love the layout of this course but it was in terrible condition. Greens were mostly sand and the fairways had large bare patches.
Water and upkeep would help
This course COULD be very nice. The views and layout are fine, but the maintenance is pretty much nonexistent.
And WATERING could probably change the course from beige to green.
