A Nice Day in the Sun
I played alone with my wife along to see the multitude of wildflowers. We had a nice lunch in the restaurant adjacent to the small golf shop. Playing in the p.m. the round was completed in prompt order. The course was in fine condition, with large bent grass greens and large tees. The fairways were ample in width, though some of the severe slopes resulted in straight drives ending up in the (usually left) rough. Having aiming posts on those holes would have helped (notably #s 2, 5, 10, and 16.) The finishing holes were the best. #15 was a 175 yard straight uphill par three, #16 a dogleg left par five that needed a go ahead peak with my cart to see what was happening. My favorite hole was #17, a short risk/reward par four offering a safe landing area to the left, or a big hitter's temptation over a small lake. #18 required two exceptional uphill shots to reach the over-sized green in regulation. Overall I enjoyed the experience, the views of Mt Snow slopes, and the friendly staff. The GolfNow great price made the day a hit! And my botanist wife loved the vegetation!
No course map
Course was very nice, fast greens but you are hitting blind of from almost every tee, so being first time there you have no idea where to aim. They should of map of the hole at the tee box or at least on the score card.
Challenging mountain track with length
Beautiful track with pretty some pretty holes and scenery. Not a fan of a number of the blind shots that are required but overall it is a nice challenging track. Despite heavy rainfall prior, the course in damp shape still played rather well for the most part. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens were in great shape. Obviously the fairways and greens were wet and extremely soft. Super friendly staff was extremely helpful and accommodating. The lunch we had after our morning round was tasty as well. Overall I cannot say a bad thing about today's golf experience.
Mt Snow
Very nice value, a few too many blind tee shots for my liking but to be expected playing a ski resort course in the mountains. Some extremely nice views and challenging holes. A bit secluded it's a fairly decent drive from Bennington Vt. But again the price was tremendous.
Moutian Golf
After seven days of rain I thought that the course would be very restricted. Not so. It was in surprisingly good condition. Matt, who is the Pro greeted us at the desk and confirmed our reservation and directed us to the practice area. After our round we visited the club house for an adult beverage and lunch. WOW! the food coming out of the kitchen was a knock-out.
Looking forward to my next round at Mount Snow.
A true mountain course
This is a mountain course. You are unlikely to find a flat lie except for maybe 2 holes on the back 9. Most holes are fairly straight but then they are made tougher by narrow fairways or hills necessitating blind shots. The greens are in good shape and fair- the breaks are gradual and if you are a good lag putter you'll be fine. The fairway rough was mostly cut short and not too difficult; the rough directly around the greens was penalizing. Bunkers were mostly around the greens and weren't in play for me. We played mid-week and there was no issue with pace of play.
As the course opens mid-may (just over a week ago), there was quite a bit of work being done on the course (particularly in some of the bunkers). As this was my first time playing the course I greatly appreciated that the course provided us with a book depicting each hole with map and important yardage to hazards. While this course is associated with a ski resort, it does not have the polish you might expect (i.e. The restaurant is more of a grill and kind of run down and the restrooms were sad). The staff was very friendly and attentive.
All in all, I would recommend the course if you like a unique challenge as it doesn't remind me of any other course I've played in VT or elsewhere. We took advantage of a hot deal and that made it a great value.
worth the money
got $24 rate so had to play despite a 2 hr drive. it had poured yesterday but the course drained fairly well. the bunkers though were poor. most did not have any sand and was either dirt or gravel. some greenside bunkers though had sand and were fine. the fairways were ok at best. many bare spots, though this may truly be what mountain golf is. also there were many elevation changes so had to play for that and not many flat lies on the fairways. even many of the tee boxes it was difficult to find a flat spot. The greens though were in great shape.
i would play here again though it would have to be a hot deals rate as i can't see paying $70 to play here.
A very nice course
Our only complaint was that there was no starter and there were many twosomes on the course and we were a foursome and it created problems. If there was a starter that wouldn't have happened.
Good value, would play agsin
Scenic course that offers challenge. Very friendly staff.
Great Day!
First of all got a great deal on GolfNow. There were very few golfers on the course being a Monday in October. No pressure. Foliage was really nice and the temperatures were comfortable. I'm not a great golfer but it didn't matter today. It was nice just being with my son and enjoying the outing.
Beautiful
The course is one of the most beautiful I have ever played. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Due to the recent drought the greens were pro like fast, which led to 3-4 putt frustration for me. But overall I loved the course and look forward to playing again!
A very challenging round
I booked a tee time for 8:00 am. This was the first tee time out. When I arrived at the tee box the starter came over with a not so friendly attitude. He said there was a group of five going out first. I asked him, "are you really going to put me as a single behind them?".. When they arrived I could see that they were his buddies. He changed his mind and they let me out first.
I appreciated the change of heart and thanked him. I don't usually play as a single but had wanted to play this course before I headed South.
Great course with stunning views
Played this beauty of a course with my girlfriend (her third time ever playing), her sister and brother in law. The course was in great condition and the weather was a little warm but quite tolerable. This track has some of the most scenic vistas that I have ever seen on a golf course in my 25 years playing! If it wasn't for the ridiculous speed of the greens, (12 on the stymph meter), I would have given it five stars! The greens were just unfair at times, which created some frustration, that and the fact I couldn't get off the tee!!! lol I would recommend this course to anyone though, just to take in and enjoy the awesome surroundings!
A nice experience
The greens were in very good shape. The fairways are sloped and challenging. Many of the tee shots are blind. It will be nice to play again. The staff was nice and the weather was excellent. We were glad we chose to play this course.
Nice course & Wonderful Employees
Great value. All employees are very professional and pleasant. Nice experience except Mother Earth cased us to call it quits after just 9. Golf school is also excellent. We attended the school in 2014. After retirement, we plan to become members.
Great fairways
Couldn't beat the hot deal for 33 dollars for this nice course
Fun, challenging, Resort Course in Vemont setting....
I love this place!
It has everything a golfer could want.
Nice clubhouse, relaxed atmosphere, inviting staff, and an interesting course layout that can challenge anyone!
Course was in very good condition considering this was a wicked tough winter here in the northeast. A couple greens had some chatter, but most all were in excellent shape, cut to make your knees knock!
Lots of elevation changes, blind tee shots, doglegs, you name it, you can find it here.
I can't remember a flat lie all day, which for me, makes the course fun and interesting!
LOL, probably a reflection of the state of my aim, rather than a course malady I suppose!
Anyway, we were paired up with a couple from Massachusetts that only verified the old adage: 'If you're a golfer, you are my friend'!
A great day of golf!
Has all the vistas baby
Lovely views on this mountain course, especially on the back. Number 16 had a temporary green. Very challenging and fun track
Hilly Terrain, course is in Great Shape
I went there with my husband expecting to have some nice foliage views. Unfortunately the foliage map was wrong and most of the leaves are off the trees. The course is in really good shape and they seemed to work really hard keeping the leaves off the fairways so you can find your ball easily. I found it hard to read the greens, not breaking the way they looked. It is very hilly and my ball took a lot of bad bounces. You are playing your shot on a hill either sideways or up and down a lot. It was really windy and cool. My husband played off the gold tees because of the wind. He did fine. I thought the course was unfriendly at the ladies tees. One hole is 498 yds and 2 others around 450. They don't give the ladies much advantage at all. The clubhouse is old and could use some updating and paint.
