Ahwatukee Country Club
The sun shines 350 days a year in Phoenix and you can enjoy this factor at Ahwatukee Country Club. "Ahwatukee" is Crow Indian for "house of dreams", but this could easily be the "golf course of dreams".
The semi-private Ahwatukee Country Club offers an 18-hole golf course designed by John Bulla in 1974 that is open year-round and includes a driving range, as well as a cart included in the greens fee. The golf course is par-72 and measures 6,713 yards from the championship tees.
The Ahwatukee Country Club golf course features a fairly wide-open layout, but has out-of-bounds areas on either side of the fairways - including some with houses, so watch out for those windows - as well as water hazards on some holes. The putting greens play fast.
After a tight front nine on the Ahwatukee Country Club golf course, things open up on a razor-sharp par-4 dogleg 10th hole, with no chance to cut corners: there's a towering forest to the left.

Ahwatukee C C
Course was in good condition. Most of the greens were fine. Overall a good day
Enjoyable round in Phoenix
We went to the course today knowing the might be some changes due to social distancing. The staff had the course well maintained. There was a raised piece in every cup so that we did not need to pull the flag, or even tough the flag. Our ball rolled into the cup yet remained high enough that we could easily get our hand on it. My husband and I played comfortably and finished in less than 3:5 hours. Social distancing in the beautiful AZ sunshine!
Great place to practice
If you’re new to golf, this is the place to be. After 3 o’clock, a full round of golf is only $22. I haven’t found much better prices for 18 anywhere else, and it’s hard to justify spending 35+ at my skill level. The course could really use some work, but the greens and fairway were both good. Good luck if you aren’t either of those places. Pace of play was pretty slow on the front nine, but there was nearly no wait on the back. Only because the offending group stopped at the front nine, no Marshall to be seen. Overall, for 22 bucks, I’m happy to play, but if you have decent expectations for a course, you might want to spend the extra ten or twenty to play somewhere else.
Course in good shape. Greens a little slow after a couple days of rain. Course played pretty long after rain for two days. Felt course was very fair. Had a lot of fun.
Less than average value
Course could stand a little tlc. Was disappointed that there were no ball washers! Fairways were in decent condition but if you got into the rough the weeds were so tall you just as well kiss your ball goodbye!! Areas around the greens and the greens themselves were acceptable and rolled pretty true. Would have been nice to have a 150 yard marker in the fairways since the carts had no gps maps. Overall ok value for the money. May be a while before I go back!!
A little tic needed
Everything associated with golf and amenities could use a bit of an upgrade here. While the rates are reasonable they aren’t cheap and they seem to get adequate play so I don’t understand why they cannot get a little better with their stuff. Seems like a management problem probably.
Works - for the price
Decent conditions, pace of play was very slow but it was a Saturday. Course layout is fun, needs a little TLC in fairways - very choppy/ greens were good, rolled true and with good speed.
One of my go to courses, but they are slowly getting more difficult and less affordable. They no longer honor Golf Pass and their GolfNow Hot Deals are now less attractive and they've begun requiring 2-4 players rather than one. I play twice a week, year round and will need to find another go to course on the east side. Their restrictions are now preventing me from going there.
We got a fairly good deal on Golf Now for this course and thought great!! A chance to try a new course. After booking we read the reviews and thought we may be disappointed. However we always want to make up our own mind and not rely strictly on the reviews.
After playing we determined that it was probably a value worth half of what we paid. The sand traps were terrible. Very inconsistent with some having next to no sand or have not been worked for a long time (hard as concrete under the few grains of sand on the surface). The greens played better than they looked but were not that consistent from green to green. Some of the cart paths are in serious need of replacement. If I had dentures they would have rattled out a number of times. Also there was no grass to speak of in the rough. A couple of times our ball just rolled off the fairway and with no grass in the rough (bare dirt) the ball continued rolling into the water. On a positive note the washrooms on the course were clean and nice. Also some of the holes have some challenge to them with their configuration. Pace of play was good. Our foursome finished in 4 hours and 10 minutes.
Most likely we won't play this course again unless the conditions improve or we get a really good deal to play it.
Course in not bad condition, fairways ok, grass around greens very good, greens where fair, a bit hard and dry, putting was quick on down hill puts, overall not bad for price.
I played this course because I did see a couple recent 5 star reviews- those were not accurate.
The overall condition is poor - fairways sparse and half brown (they appeared to have only over seeded the areas around the greens).
Greens were the best part of the round (but only 6 out of 10 stars).
The pace of play was pretty good - 4.5 hours on a Sunday is ok.
I think this course id great for beginners because you can move the ball to a spot of green in the fairways.
Never will i play this golf course again, terrible rough hard pack, no ball washers on any holes , painted greens , terrible sand in bunkers , not worth the money
