Ahwatukee Country Club
About
The sun shines 350 days a year in Phoenix and you can enjoy this factor at Ahwatukee Country Club. "Ahwatukee" is Crow Indian for "house of dreams", but this could easily be the "golf course of dreams".
The semi-private Ahwatukee Country Club offers an 18-hole golf course designed by John Bulla in 1974 that is open year-round and includes a driving range, as well as a cart included in the greens fee. The golf course is par-72 and measures 6,713 yards from the championship tees.
The Ahwatukee Country Club golf course features a fairly wide-open layout, but has out-of-bounds areas on either side of the fairways - including some with houses, so watch out for those windows - as well as water hazards on some holes. The putting greens play fast.
After a tight front nine on the Ahwatukee Country Club golf course, things open up on a razor-sharp par-4 dogleg 10th hole, with no chance to cut corners: there's a towering forest to the left.

Horrible
The course was in horrible shape. The greens, The Fairways, The Sand Traps.I can’t believe I payed over $50 for this dog track. I will NEVER play there again.. in fact you should fire the Superintendent.
Conditions aren’t the best for a country club
Pace of play was good (granted it was 105 when we started, so wouldn’t expect it to be crowded). Course is designed nicely, with some good challenges on distance and obstacles. Overall conditions were pretty bad. Fairways were non existent for most holes and the greens were very slow. Doubtful that we will play at this location again based on the course conditions and the price for the round. Would get more from the Phoenix City courses.
Accommodate Summer Play
Love this course but on a hot summer day, tee time 0745, water jugs had no water, no water in ball washers, greens can use a bit more TLC. OVERALL I’ll be back, cart girl was definitely working saw her 4 times; which was great.
Great course for the price but id recommend playing at sun rise first thing or before 6:30a or plan on waiting every hole.
Good value but not much as far as food except for basic snacks or hotdogs. Staff is friendly good layout but we were late to tee off and was really backed up every hole. Staff explained they we’re running late due to a men’s group that according the marshal showed up unannounced and was allowed to go out earlier causing a back up at the tee box and everyone who scheduled a tee time ahead unlike the men’s group all had to wait 30-40 mins later then there scheduled tee time to get started. Because of this every hole was backed up with 2-3 groups waiting to tee off. This went on the entire front 9 and eventually got better at the 10th hole. Our usual 4 hr round turned out to be 6 hrs, 4 hrs on the front 9 alone. Most likely alot of groups quit after 9 not willing to do another’ 4 hr on the back. Thankfully for us its sped up the back to a normal 2hrs. Hopefully they won’t allow a men’s league to go out unannounced in front of everyone else that schedule a time prior to showing up and if they dont call ahead they should wait until theres an opening they can fit in without holding everyone else up . That is what usually happens if u don’t call ahead a make a tee time prior to showing up isn’t it??
Okay for the money
It’s a goat track, but for $40 it’s hard to complain. We needed a last minute tee time so we still had fun. Only a couple greens had dead spots. This course could be cool if it wasn’t half dead.
Fairways all dried. Hard due to lack of water. Greens gave several dead patches
Horrible pace of play
Don’t let “Country Club” fool you into thinking this is actually a quality course to play - right away on hole one, there were tree trunk chunks that look like they’d been there for some time. The fairway is brown (I understand that this is AZ in June) but the greens were also brown. It felt like the course - what we played of it - was all under disrepair. There were no rangers at all to encourage a pick up in pace of play - at hole 3, there were literally 4 groups backed up - that’s insane - it never broke loose. Hoping that whatever group that was holding up play would end at 9 holes - nope, not the case - by hole 11 when it hadn’t improved, we actually turned around and ended our round. There were others that followed as well - that’s ridiculous - we saw the beer cart one time in the 10 holes that we actually played - and was told at the beginning that the bar was closed. Never again!
Rough, Rough Shape
Used to play this course quite often years ago. It was never in excellent shape but 10 years ago it was a good value and the course maintenance was adequate. Today, it's a complete disaster. Drove the fairway and still hitting of loose soft dirt or worse. My golf bag was filled with dust as most of the course is almost native desert again. Cart paths are concrete and haven't been maintained for what looks like 20 years. Not a flat spot anywhere on the tee boxes, etc.... This is maybe a $15 course and really needs a lot of help to get it back to anything reasonably playable. Disappointed in how far this course has fallen.
Condition of the Course
I wish they could properly maintain the fairways and greens! This course has the potential to be a good place to play! We live here and would like to play this course often but for years this course needs to maintained!
What happened.
Every year I tell myself this place needs some serious changes to make it a nice course again it is worse than last year. I guess the only thing I can say that was ok were some of the greens. I hate to bash a course but this place continues to get worse every year. It's to the point that if you don't put some serious money and effort to fix the course it WILL become a loss. Right now it is like playing on dirt in many places. I really hope someone saves this course. Until something happens I don't see me being a patron of this course. Someone please do something or sell it to someone who will.
Getting Better
Compared to last time we played the greens and aprons are much better . Looks like they’re getting ready for the Los Vegas Scramble on Sunday 6/11/23.
Some of the fairways could use a little more water and less airiation - some of those fairways look like battle field.
Thank you so much for putting sand in the sand traps. Still a few flooded stops that real cut down your distance on drives
Horrible Condition
This course is in horrible condition. A mix of dead grass and dirt. The greens are the worse I have ever seen and mostly unplayable. This facility obviously does not know how to maintain the course. Will not be back.
Memorial monday
Was a holiday Monday so the course was stacked. Course was in bad shape only few greens decent. Very little fairway quality. It’s end of may so starting to dry out.
Ok course but overpriced. Prob at 25/35 at most
Diamond in the Rough
This is wonderful course when properly watered and maintained - unfortunately this was not the case when we played
- the fairway were dry and flooded in some places
- the greens Review of Ahwwere in terrible condition, making it difficult to get a true roll
- difficult to call them sand traps when majority have very little sand -
Will not return:
- until you improve your watering and maintenance practices and - - to me each your ranger on how to keep the flow of the players moving
- do something about the fungus on the greens before you have no greens

Not a bad track
Didn’t know what to expect because I have never played here before but I couldn’t beat the price. The fairways and greens were in pretty good shape minus a few greens that were bumpy. I wasn’t expecting a 5 star golf course but was pleasantly surprised with this one. Sand traps were maintained and tee boxes pretty solid. 10/10 would recommend

Good track, slow play, poor greens
This course is not transitioning well from winter to summer. The fairways are rough and the greens have large patches of brown creating bumpy uncertain putting given that the cups are located within these areas. Add in slow play and paying over $60 for it all and it wasn't a good value. Hoping it gets better, but won't be back this summer if not.
