Great day out
Staff were excellent and the course picture perfect and in great condition for the time of year .
Pace of Play
Our tee time was 10 minutes late because the course was "backed up." When I tee'd off, the starter, Jay, guaranteed that we would be back at the turn to see him at 2 hours on the dot. He assured me the pace of play wouldn't be a problem and that someone was out there enforcing pace. I saw him at the turn after 2.5 hours and he had nothing to say to me. He went and walked as far as away as possible from the turn to avoid speaking with us. After another 2.5 hours, I was finally able to finish a round at this course. There's no reason I should get stuck behind extremely drunk individuals yelling on a golf course taking 2-3 balls off the tee and the marshall (if there even was one out there) not doing anything about it. Absolutely terrible experience.
Great course, slow 18th
Everything about this course is great, except for the CPO 18th hole. There was 3 groups ahead of us and it took us a long time to finish the round
Foothills Fun
Greens and fairways in great shape. Rough is kinda bare dirt and weeds in many spots. Staff very friendly. Great beverage choices. Coolers with ice provided on carts along with small cloths. No USB ports or club washers on cart.
Overall, a great experience. We will be back.
Fun Day
First time playing the course, the potential of this course is unreal. Fairways were in great shape, greens were a little slow, but overall a pretty darn good track. Rumor has it that the course is going to be getting some work done. We will play it again when we get come back next year just to see the improvements.
SLOW
twosome - went on a rainy colder day. course was fantastic even in poor conditions. However, on a day when maybe 10 people went out - we had to wait on almost every hole as there were no ranger anywhere. at the turn we asked about speeding up the players - we were told we could skip a hole or play the first nine again if needed. All it would have taken was to urge the others to either allow us to play through or pick up the pace. I am not a good golfer but know how to play at pace.
Great course!
Back nine was extremely windy but the course was in great shape and we had a great round!
Greens are slow and inconsistent
For the price, the greens are pretty inconsistent. I understand that the club is planning on redoing them, so that's good. Fairways are excellent.
Troon Ruined Foothills
The reviews on here are baffling to me. It makes me wonder... "Did we play the same course?". I'll start by saying I've been playing at Foothills for the past 5 years. It used to be one of my favorite courses - the layout is fun, and it used to be reliably in pretty good shape. Then Troon took over. They jacked up the prices and have offered nothing in return - in fact things got worse. The desert areas are unkempt jungles, the "rough" is a mixture of dirt patches and weeds, there are random collections of nasty water/mud all over the place, the fairways are patched with dirt areas/weeds/random holes. Honestly all that I can live with for a "budget" course (which I wouldn't consider foothills given their current prices but whatever). But the main issue is the greens. They are what I would call "carpet" with plenty of old divots and random tufts of grass popping up. The general rule of thumb seems to be hit it and pray you get the right bumps and the speed is consistent. Some greens are better than others - but the inconsistency of it all makes it pretty tough to play. I'd love to ask any of the reviewers who apparently are ignoring this to play ANY other course that charges these kind of fees to tell me the greens are comparable. I hear rumors that the course is closing in May... Well the maintenance shows it. To me it seems like they've just about given up.
Do what you want with your money. But in my opinion this course is a complete scam, and you are better off playing anywhere else. I absolutely guarantee you will get much better value.
Greens slow and inconsistant
Fairways are just beautiful, obviously being well taken care of. Greens are slow with some being really slow. Understand they are redoing the greens which is good. Hopefully the price stays the same.
