McCormick Ranch Golf Club features two lush manicured year-round courses amid the lovely views of Scottsdale. Both the Palm and Pine golf courses' championship tees lay to over 7,000 yards, and there are also the options of men's, seniors' and ladies' tee sets to allow everyone a crack at the tests offered by these golf courses.

Golf Illustrated selected the ninth hole of the Palm Course at the McCormick Ranch Golf Club to be "One of the USA's Top 18 Water Holes." It's just one of 10 water holes on the golf course, which, as you might imagine, also features lots of big palms. In all, the golf course plays to over yards from the blue tees, including four par-5 holes that measure over 500 yards.

A round of golf on the Palm Course at the McCormick Ranch Golf Club kicks off on the par-4 first hole, which plays close to 400 yards from the blue tee and requires a drive right-center to ensure a short-iron second shot.

Short frost delay that morning. We had Noon tee time. Course was overloaded and SLOW. Par 3's had 3 groups backed up on tee which is ridiculous. Never saw a Marshall. The driving range was really beat up and we hit off of sand. Interesting "make you think" layout.

Fairways don’t exist. Your hitting from hard pan. Greens Tee boxes really nice. There’s no grass around greens

Course conditions do not support $ fees. With hundred of courses in the area I’d skip this on every time.

Years ago this was a gr8 course. As an aside the back nine was horrifically slow. Never say a ranger and we headed off the course after 15 holes. Driving back to clubhouse we passed an 8 some on hole 17. Unreal

I live in Scottsdale and so I’ve played this course before and I like the layout. I’ve never seen poorer conditions for this level of golf course. The Bermuda rough was not over seeded understandably but there was almost no residual grass. Even the fairways barely had grass. The greenside rough was also dead. The range is in horrid condition.

The last very notable thing is that there are no walkers allowed on this course. Laughable!

Tee boxes are beat up but at least there are flat areas off which to tee it up. Fairways are in poor condition. The sand traps are good - deep, soft sand. Greens are rolling true and quick. The Palm course doesn’t look like much but from the tips, it sneaks up on you. There’s not a lot of water, but it’s in the right places. You have to carry it on two of the par-3s - at 200+ and 190+ yds. No island greens but there are greens with water in front and on the side. Not a big deal on most courses except on Palm, those greens are crowned. Adding to this is the fact the greens don’t hold approach shots very well. And I’m not talking about low trafectory 4-irons. I can recall 8- and 9-iron hit before the pin and end up on the back fringe.

I’d play this course again only if I had limited options. It’s generally on the more affordable side, and the main reason I’d play it.

Small, fast sloping greens make this course more challenging than many people think. It takes careful course management to score well on either course.

The course has a nice layout, but was in very bad shape. Greens were okay, but most fairways were in bad condition. In many place you were basically hitting off of dirt or actually mud because it rained the day before. Even with the golf discount price from golf now, I felt I was overcharged. The cart path only slowed the round down which I knew was needed because the course doesn't drain well, but with the bare fairways the cart path only is probably the norm.

Having lived in Scottsdale for 20 years now and having played McCormick Ranch dozens of times, with so many golf courses to choose from in the Phoenix area, McCormick Ranch was always one of my "go to" courses. I knew I could always get a good round of golf at a good price. NOT ANYMORE! My wife and son whom I golfed with here, were all in agreement with me; That the course conditions were very bad. The fairways and greens were very, very dry and grass was spotted throughout the entire course. It felt like this golf course has been neglected and uncared for. We even found ourselves at times being punished for landing in the middle of the fairway, only to have worse conditions than if we had landed in the rough. Definitely not what I am accustomed to seeing or what I expected from this course. The truth be told, we have seen this course in better conditions in the heart of the summer when it hasn't rained in months and the ground is scorched from the intense summer sun. This is NOT what you should expect in the peak of the winter season, and not while they are charging an expensive winter rate premium to boot. Like I said with so many other course in the Scottsdale area, I would seriously reconsider playing at McCormick Ranch. Bottom line: The course conditions don't dictate the premium price they are charing.

I have played both courses Palm and Pine, and didn't enjoy either one. I found the tee boxes and fairways in terrible condition on both courses. I would rather pay more money on a course more enjoyable to play.

This was the first time I have played the Palm course after playing the Pine course a number of times. I live 5 minutes from the course but try to avoid playing here as there are much better options in the Scottsdale and greater Phoenix area. I was surprised at the poor condition of the golf course. Tee boxes were terrible. Fairways were thin. Like the over seed was not very successful. And all the greens are humped so every putt is either up hill or down hill or both. A couple of pin placements were at the edge of a false front so putting past the hole had the ball rolling off the green. Even had a playing partner putt just past the hole, down the false front and into the water. That should never happen. Overall not sure that I would go back if the round was free but certainly would not pay to play here again. It is tough to find a course in the $60 range this time of year in Phoenix. But paying $20 more can get you a beautiful course in many parts of the valley and is well worth it. If you must play stick to the Pine course which is in better condition.

Having played this course before, I decided to take a friend to a nice course in Scottsdale so I thought. I was really disappointed with the condition of the fairways, after hitting several good drives down the fairway I was horrified to be on a bare areas. This is meant to be the best time to play here in Phoenix this is the worst course I have played on for a while. Will not be coming back

Greens seem to be challenging...many elevated Greens. Maintenance always seem to be up-grading the landscapes.

Pleasant people. Wish they had a better quality Driving Range. Divets in sand, chopped up. Have to look for clean

space to place ball.

But...I will play there anyway.

I used to play this course a lot back in the 90's and early 00's. Was one of the better courses in the Phoenix area. But it has been and is currently a muni quality course at best. Our group took a shot in hopes that things have turned around, but not so. The putting surfaces were good, but: the sand in the bunkers is horrible, fairways were sparsely grassed in many areas, green fringes were terrible on the back nine, etc. And 8 minute tee times = 5 hour rounds when busy. We have scratched this course of our list.

No help from cart/bag staff. They avoided us and chatted amongst themselves. You had to beg them to stop and deal with you. No control of slow play. Or else they just crammed too many people in too fast with short tee time intervals. Had three groups waiting on the 2nd tee! Took three hours to play 9 holes. Quit at that time and went elsewhere. Poorly managed golf operations. Pro shop was efficient. Don't know about grill, too frustrated to stay and find out.
