Palm at McCormick Ranch Golf Club
McCormick Ranch Golf Club features two lush manicured year-round courses amid the lovely views of Scottsdale. Both the Palm and Pine golf courses' championship tees lay to over 7,000 yards, and there are also the options of men's, seniors' and ladies' tee sets to allow everyone a crack at the tests offered by these golf courses.
Golf Illustrated selected the ninth hole of the Palm Course at the McCormick Ranch Golf Club to be "One of the USA's Top 18 Water Holes." It's just one of 10 water holes on the golf course, which, as you might imagine, also features lots of big palms. In all, the golf course plays to over yards from the blue tees, including four par-5 holes that measure over 500 yards.
A round of golf on the Palm Course at the McCormick Ranch Golf Club kicks off on the par-4 first hole, which plays close to 400 yards from the blue tee and requires a drive right-center to ensure a short-iron second shot.

Best shape in a few years.
Been playing McCormick Ranch for a few years. Best shape I have seen it. Greens rolled true, even with many pitch marks. Fairways were softer than previous years. Pace of play was perfect. Sure it is an older course, and maybe not as nice as some. But fair test!
Lack of golf carts
While entertaining a visitor from Minnesota we were upset about the brashness of the boys working to place our bags. There were no carts up to 10 minutes prior to tee time. When we asked a few times prior they were rude to both of us each time. I realize it was hectic and they had no carts available but their response was unacceptable. First off there should be more than enough carts. Are some broken down? They don’t have the cash to purchase more? How about a bench for us seniors to sit on as we wait? There was no place to be patient as we waited and prompted us to keep asking. Thankfully the course was outstanding and playable and our round ended well.
Enjoyed the course but pace of play was so slow we stopped after 11 holes- 4 hrs to play 11 holes. Didn't see a ranger anywhere to let him know .
Course should have given us another play but not so far. So cannot recommend as a good course to play. Greens were also very pitted because so many players.
Will play again
First time here and the staff made me feel very welcome. From bag drop to starter absolutely wonderful. Pace was a little slower than I like but that’s golfing later in the day. Will be back. I live in Buckeye so it’s a long drive.
Not bad course
A little muddy
Greens got faster as round went on
Had two holes 9 and 16 where GPS mid identified the water lead too two penalties
Pace of play was better on back 9
good track to play but not easy
lot of challenges but overall a good course to play..add it to the list
Good course. Good value for the money. People need to fix their pitch marks.
Hot Deal Bargin
It was a great Day and the pace of play was exceptional. We were done in less than 4 hrs.
The course was in good condition and the bunkers were recently raked. Lots of water hazards to make it challenging.
Could Be Good
Overseeding completed and tee boxes had not been mowed...however, the main issue was not stepping in all the "goose poop." The are doing nothing to keep critters in check unfortunately.
Also, the pace of play was horrible...took us 5 hours to complete our round.
Stay away until overseeing finished
Tee boxes shaggy, greens fuzzy and slow. Fairways in decent shape. Was cart path only which wasn't mentioned when I booked or checked in and made the round tiring and less than enjoyable. Overpriced for current conditions. Nice course generally but not right now.
The course was well set up, but the greens were dried out and super fast. Otherwise a nice day at the course. The on course service was excellent and always close by for anything we needed. Overall, a nice experience.
Not McCormick’s Best Showing
I normally like this course a lot but today wasn’t the best experience. Pace of play was brutal (5 1/2 hours) with no attempt by the course to move things along. Waiting on nearly every shot. The staff was less than friendly as well. They seemed put out that we didn’t choose the Pine Course and burdened them with accommodating us on the Palm. Beer cart was out of half of what they normally carry and we only saw them once the entire round. Everyone knows that fall over seeding is a little chaotic but the course can do a better job of being prepared.
Management needs improvement.
No hot dogs at the turn at 12:15 pm
No sand in the sand bottles.
Cart girl did not have normal Diet Coke bottles. Sold us little cans that turned out to be expired in Feb. 2018 and were flat.
The pace of play was way too slow as it took nearly 5 hours to complete.
Had a 9:20 tee time as a single however I had to wait till 9:45 to be paired up with another group.
If it wasn't for the excellent weather I would had been miserable.
Course was in fine shape after overseeding. Pace of play fine onthe front, slowed down quite a bit on the back.
So glad I reconsidered
So glad I reconsidered. I scheduled this course last week, but read some pretty nasty reviews, and cancelled my tee time. I was talking to my son this weekend, who lives out of state, and he said you've got to go there. I reconsidered yesterday and scheduled a tee time for today around noon.
Here is what you'll find if you go there:
- staff at the check-in desk are super efficient
- I got on early.
- the carts are in great shape, and include GPS
- you start with a small bucket of range balls
- it's over seeding season, but course is still in great shape. Most courses quit watering 1-2 weeks ago
- the cart girl frequently comes by, even though there not lots of players
My review? Go there. The best round I've had this still pretty hot season, here in Phoenix. Hit em straight!
