Orange Tree Golf & Conference Resort
The course at the Orange Tree Golf Resort provides an excellent game of golf in a luxurious setting. The Parkland-style layout features fairways lined with mature trees, which not only enhance the natural beauty of the golf course but can also greatly affect shots. Four lakes are situated on the flat terrain of the course, providing water hazards that come into play on five holes. Sand bunkers also surround every green. Orange Tree Golf Resort's course finishes with its signature hole, where water cuts into the fairway and proceeds to run down the left side all the way to the green. It also requires accuracy on the approach shot in order to hit the small putting surface that is surrounded by tricky elements.

In crappy condition
Greens are bald and sandy. The traps are like playing out of the desert floor. They pack the course resulting in a garbage pace of play.
Great day of golf
The course is in pretty good condition. I came to Arizona to play golf but the resort where I’m staying had a tournament this morning. I had played Orange Tree two years ago and hoped to repeat the experience. I was not disappointed. Staff were friendly and helpful. The Marshall did a good job of keeping the pace of play on tract. Only negative was that the greens were very firm and fast—almost impossible to get a shot to hold. I have planned a trip next February, staying at Orange Tree and hope to enjoy the course and resort again.
Absentee Staff; Zero Amenities
It had been more than 20 years since I had played and I will not be back. The first thing that struck me was the absolutely unwelcoming atmosphere and attitude of staff. After parking my car, no one was in sight to assist with our bags. Course conditions were awful. Fairways were in horrible shape. Very short grass and not maintained. Greens were in miserable condition. On-course amenities were limited. No staff at the snack bar at the turn. The gal in the beverage cart appeared on #1 and we never saw her again until #14. Was she in hiding? Access to quality F&B on a Phoenix-area course is mandatory. Overall, the only pleasant thing about this experience was the 83F temperatures.
Greens need a lot of work. Tee boxes hard as concrete.
Good course but
Traps are rock hard and could use some sand or better maintenance. Pace of play was slow and 18 holds took 4 hours and 20 minutes...not what the course desires which is 4 hours even. Hard to tell if it was just that the course was maxed out or the fact that there didn't appear to be marshalls.
Time For A Renovation
This is an established course with a decent layout and potential for the next level, but there is a lack of attention to certain things that keep it at an ordinary status. Large areas off the fairway proper are left barren and unkempt, a number of trees need to be trimmed if not removed, and large sections of the cart path need work. As I've said before, this course just needs to undergo a good renovation.
Course in relatively good condition except for the greens which were slow and bumpy.
Great course for the money
Excellent range and huge practice putting green. Great bang for the buck. Pace of place was a bit slow, finished in just over 4 1/2 hours.
A great course for the discounted rate!
one of the problems with many courses is they sand the Tee boxes until they are rounded! so when you Tee up your ball can be above your feet or below them! They apparently also don’t tamp down the grass after they pull the plugs when moving the holes to different locations on the greens, thus they leave a slight lip around the holes so your ball tails off just before dropping in the hole, aggravating!
The designers of most public courses think that the average golfers are par players the way they layout the greens, sloping them, putting rises in them, etc. If you watch the PGA TOURNAMENTS you seldom see greens as tough as the ones we have to putt on. What is that for? The sand traps are most always watered down till they are like cement!
Lots of trees, but wide course
Orange Tree Golf is located on the Phoenix near Scottsdale Resort of the same name. There's not much parking, but the staff is ready to help with your clubs. The clubhouse is nice and there's a restaurant attached. The course is somewhat challenging in that every green appears to slope down towards the approaching players, so it's best to hit the approach shot short. Every one has sand traps guarding the green, but they are mostly hard dirt. Otherwise the fairways are wide and a few have water hazards that are easy to navigate around. An enjoyable course.
During our active season cost can be ver high but this course stays a good value to play.
Perfect day for golf but ...
Course is forgiving and great for beginners like me but the pace of play was 5+ hours ! The marshall did not do anything to try and address the situation and when you have four groups waiting to play a par 3, then SOMETHING is clearly wrong.
I enjoyed the course but the pace of play was extremely frustrating. One of the golfers we played with had to quit after 14 holes in order to make his dinner reservation.
The course and upkeep is average.
Course is ok b6t not great. Lots of leaves on several greens, and the sand in 5he traps is thin with mud below about 1/2 inch.
Great course and walkable
Course was in great shape! Lots of fun and friendly staff.
