Orange Tree Golf & Conference Resort
About
The course at the Orange Tree Golf Resort provides an excellent game of golf in a luxurious setting. The Parkland-style layout features fairways lined with mature trees, which not only enhance the natural beauty of the golf course but can also greatly affect shots. Four lakes are situated on the flat terrain of the course, providing water hazards that come into play on five holes. Sand bunkers also surround every green. Orange Tree Golf Resort's course finishes with its signature hole, where water cuts into the fairway and proceeds to run down the left side all the way to the green. It also requires accuracy on the approach shot in order to hit the small putting surface that is surrounded by tricky elements.

“No Grass”
The course has lost the greens and the fairways. They applied a fertilizer that killed nearly all the grass in the fairways and the greens. There is almost no grass anywhere, except the rough. “Don’t” play here. They need to close the course to fix the problems.
Nice playable course
The course is getting a bit dry but overall in pretty good shape.
Nothing tricky about course and good for average players.
Course was nice overall - greens, fairway, tee box all around n great shape
Pace of play was slow, although bearable
Yes, I would go back & play again
Blue tees are equivalent to white tees at most other courses
Slow greens
Conditions overall were fine. Greens were very slow. Other than a bit of water it’s hard to get into trouble.
Review Orange Tree GC
Great course, friendly staff, lots of sand , so challenging l, greens on excellent condition.
Orange Tree
Nice layout, a bit too flat maybe but good condition with excellent pace of play.
Horrendous pace of play
I would encourage golfers to avoid this place. I booked a tee time for a single at 3:40pm on a Friday afternoon. I was told that I would be playing behind another single and a 4some. After waiting for some rain to subside and a delay on the first tee, I tee’d off around 3:35pm (I checked in around 3:20 and opted not to warm up and was told I could head to the first tee.). The pace of play was horrendous. I waited 8 mins on the 3rd tee box and decided to walk off and head home at 4:18pm – 43 mins for 2 holes of golf. I walked into the pro shop and inquired about a ‘slow play’ rain check and mentioned that I was leaving because it took me 43 minutes to play two holes and the response I got from staff was “oh gosh.” Not an apology, not an offer of a rain check. If such lackluster caliber play is going to be allowed at this course, there needs to be a modicum of pace of play enforcement. I would say the $90 I spent was wasted but I look at it like this: I spent $90 to realize I will never set foot on this course again and encourage others to do the same.
Didn’t play well
I struggled on this course today and scored 7 strokes higher than I did the week prior. Played the back nine first today. Got behind a father and 3 kids who looked like they didn’t want to be there. My patience was tested and probably affected my game.
SPX2 On Vacation
Nice course...a bit rough around the edges but fairways n greens in great shape...nice layout n very forgiving for the average golfer..
Excellent Course
Lots of improvements from last year make this a great course. Staff is great, too.
Spring break
I played this course in my 5-year-old rode along with me. I was paired up with three other very friendly gentleman. The course was very friendly while still being very professional
Orange Tree Has Improved--A Lot!
For 4-5 years, as a local Phoenix resident, I wrote the course, suggesting it was a JOKE to call Orange Tree a "golf resort." The facility was dated and the course maintenance was poor, with consistently "HARD PACKED (clay)" traps, the tee markers were just pieces of tree limbs (painted on the ends to denote this or that tee box), etc.
I was pleasantly surprised at the play there yesterday (March 11). New clubhouse and course signage, actual sand in the traps, proper tee markers, and friendly staff. There are other changes in the works, such as the on-course restrooms--in serious need of updating, etc. But I'm encouraged with with I found... Bravo OT!
Honestly this course is in horrendous condition . Not only are the greens ruined they're over watering every where, ridiculous! I understand closing the course is fiscally impossible but the least they could do is reduce the rates. Not only did they charge full price they also charged for range balls. When you greens keeping fails like yours has, give concessions. This course will never see my money ever again
