Pine at McCormick Ranch Golf Club
About
The Pine Course at the McCormick Ranch Golf Club offers mature pines, in an appropriate contrast to its sibling golf course, the Pine Course, and is also narrower than the other golf course. What they have in common include the facts that Desmond Muirhead designed both of them and they both date back to 1972; recent renovations have also given both golf courses new greens, sand traps and bridges.
The Pine at McCormick Ranch Golf Club measures 7,187 yards, kicking off on a 398-yard par 4 that requires tee shot toward the fairway's center, leaving golfers a mid- to short-iron from the green, which slopes narrowly. Things get long by the fourth hole, one of four par-5 holes that come in at over 500 yards; this one, for example, makes you place your drive well toward right-center if you want to shoot for it in two. Close out the round of golf on the 18th hole, another long one, at 517 yards from the blue tees, and a tight hole to drive that will, thankfully, provide your last test for the day.

McCormick golf
Course was soaking wet and it hadn’t rained in almost two weeks. Standing water in the bunkers and fairways were soaked and muddy. Not saying I wouldn’t play again but I would look at other courses first
18 at McCormick Ranch
The course was soaking wet. Standing water in the bunkers and it hadn’t rained in close to two weeks. Fairways are something I would see at a cheap county course and not a course in Scottsdale that charges higher prices to play. The young kids working at the bag drop were very nice and the waitstaff that we encountered after our round on the patio were great. Probably wouldn’t go out of my way to play it again.
Overpriced
Unfortunately all courses this time of year are overpriced. The past 3 post Covid years have seen all courses rates jump, like doubled which is crazy.
Great Time
Really enjoyed playing 18 holes on the Pines McCormick Ranch. We teed off just after noon and were able to easily get in all holes at our pace before dark. We were paired with another twosome and enjoyed their company as well. Our pace finished us after 4hrs 15min. We never were pushed and only a few holes waited a bit for the foursome in front of us. It was cart path only the day we went and understandably so as it had rained quit a bit the day before. There were only a few wet areas throughout the course but very manageable to handle without shoes getting wet. The views were amazing all around the Pines Course and the staff excellent. Driving range, chipping area and putting practice grounds well kept. The fairways and greens in really good shape. All in all a wonderful place to experience 18 holes of golf with medium challenge to each hole for a 18.6 GHIN player. I just thought the price was high but would recommend it for a once in lifetime go to place to play.
Uninspired Golf
Course in okay shape, fairways were patchy. Green complex’s have a lot of slope and a quick pace, the only real defense the course presents. Play if you can get a cheap rate otherwise there are much better courses in the area.
The greens were very quick. The layout was very good.
Just OK
I have played better courses in Scottsdale. The layout is fine, but there is a lot of desert grass in the fairways. And I sweat they paint their grass green. Paint was on my ball. It's a long ball hitters course, I don't hit that far so it seemed a little harder for me. Like I said it's OK
Pine Course
The course was great and the staff was very friendly. I was bummed the restaurant was closed and only serving beverages.
Going nowhere fast, hopefully with your clubs.
Arriving 1.5 hours before my tee time for a lite lunch, range time, I went to get my bag from the Caddyshack to find out they were put onto a different cart who had gone out with someone else. What’s the point to trust them with your stuff if they can’t coordinate names to tee times. Course Rangers did little to no reminders to groups who were holding two groups behind them which included us. A group behind us were aggravate at us taking too long, yet the group ahead were not even 1/4 of the way down the fairway in front each time we tee’d up. Pace of play averaged 4hrs 15mins. Tee box conditions were loaded with unprepared divots making it hard to find a good piece of turf. Not too many water stops along the course. Soft Fairways, Fast Greens. Front 9 = Average golfer friendly / Back 9 = tests Intermediary Golfer.
Keep the ball below the hole
The fairways were nice and greens were quick and smooth. The slopes of the greens made it important to make sure birdie puts were uphill. Enjoyed the back side more than the front as the is flat and fairly wide open with very few trees. The back has more character with more trees, rolling terrain and is more scenic. Overall for what you get for your $, would rather pay more for a better quality course.
Nice course
McCormick Ranch is a very nice property. It wasn't at its best due to the recent rain. Even though it was wet and there was a good deal of casual water in places the course held up well. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food service in the restaurant was very accommodating. I found it to be a nice place to play and I'm sure it would be great on a nicer day.
