Pine at McCormick Ranch Golf Club
About
The Pine Course at the McCormick Ranch Golf Club offers mature pines, in an appropriate contrast to its sibling golf course, the Pine Course, and is also narrower than the other golf course. What they have in common include the facts that Desmond Muirhead designed both of them and they both date back to 1972; recent renovations have also given both golf courses new greens, sand traps and bridges.
The Pine at McCormick Ranch Golf Club measures 7,187 yards, kicking off on a 398-yard par 4 that requires tee shot toward the fairway's center, leaving golfers a mid- to short-iron from the green, which slopes narrowly. Things get long by the fourth hole, one of four par-5 holes that come in at over 500 yards; this one, for example, makes you place your drive well toward right-center if you want to shoot for it in two. Close out the round of golf on the 18th hole, another long one, at 517 yards from the blue tees, and a tight hole to drive that will, thankfully, provide your last test for the day.

Nice course
McCormick Ranch is a very nice property. It wasn't at its best due to the recent rain. Even though it was wet and there was a good deal of casual water in places the course held up well. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food service in the restaurant was very accommodating. I found it to be a nice place to play and I'm sure it would be great on a nicer day.
Trip to Scottsdale
I booked the tee time through Golfnow. The one thing I was not aware of was that we were the first group, 2 of us, behind an outing that was a scramble format. Play was extremely slow. Our tee time was at 1pm and I was concerned about finishing before dark.
The golf staff came to us on the 9th hole and corrected the issue by moving us to the front 9 of the Palm course to complete our round. This was great. We played pretty quickly, no one in front of us and the group behind us was at least one hole behind. Great management of handling an issue.
Hot Deal price was great
Everything about the course was really great and the views were amazing. I got a 20% off hit deals rate , so the course met the expectation and was priced right.
Course in terrible condition
Poor overseed, limited to no watering, extremely dry, spray painted fairways to attempt to make it look ok. Will never play again
Grounds need some work
The course was nice. I like that the range balls are included in the round. The grass was not over seeded. Because of this the course didn't look that good. The overall play was still good and the greens were very fast.
Very pure greens
We had never played McCormick previously but had heard good things about it. The cart staff were friendly and professional, providing great service upon arrival to the course and upon completion of our round. Fairways were in great shape and the dormant rough, which we were in a lot, provided consistent lies. The greens were the best aspect though. They were quick, smooth, and putts held their line. Absolute pleasure to putt on. We thought the price point was a little higher than it should've been, but being in Scottsdale its what you'd expect. Overall great day and would be open to playing here again.
Could be better
Just an average course in my opinion. Definitely not worth $150. The overseeded areas are thin at best. Whoever mowed the greens on the Pine course did not do a good job. Driving the mower straight and cutting the entire surface are the basics. I would not send a friend to McCormick Ranch in its current condition. Trilogy felt like Augusta compared to Pine course and it was $30 less.
Very helpful staff but rentals too much
Had a golf now issue as i was booked twice for same tee time. Pro shop helped.
Enjoyed the day. Only complaint? Wife was renting clubs and it was $71 U.S.
Too expensive.. just saying
Very Hard Course
Played this course and was a lot harder than McDowell mountain ranch. Lots of sloped greens and bunkers in front. Was very fun and loved the layout + open fairways, but I shot higher than normal due to layout for sure. Lots of putts where if you miss you are going to roll for awhile.
Great playing experience
Enjoyed the experience of McCormick Ranch Pines. Back nine is fabulous.
Good walk spoiled
I booked this course because I remembered walking it in years past. That's no longer allowed. I even offered to pay more just to walk but they shot me down. That's silly and I won't be going back...this would/should be a very walkable course!
Perfect Day After Rain
Course was in great shape. The problem was that it had just rained and it was cart path only until the 17th hole. Give me a break. I can understand the first four or five holes but for the price we are paying plus the course had dried up by then… be fair to your players. Aside from that I do enjoy the course even though if you slice it just a little bit you will be in the next fairway over. I like that there are lots of holes with water nearby, keeps it interesting.
