TPC Scottsdale has earned a host of honors, including a spot among the top three Arizona golf facilities for service and among the "Top 50 Golf and Resort Destinations in the World," the latter by no less than Conde Nast Traveler.

The Champions Course at TPC Scottsdale sits where the Desert Course did, but offers the thrills of golfing a new course, this one designed by architect Randy Heckenkemper, who did his best to fit the new golf course into the untouched desert land that surrounds it.

The Champions Course at TPC Scottsdale rivals its better-known sibling golf course, the Stadium Course, with all the good looks and good golf one might expect in the Scottsdale area.

Was Hoping to Book Stadium

I really have nothing bad to say about this course. Honestly wished we booked Stadium but Champions course was also unreal. Man when you play subpar courses in the Greater Toronto Area, Ontario, Canada, you really appreciate the immaculate greens at premium courses. We thought the fairways were fake grass.. too green and too perfect. Shoutout to the groundskeepers, they do an amazing job. But with the Canadian dollar where its at, we spent 540 bucks each on 3 rounds of golf... It's very expensive. The Waste Management is an instant classic now but TPC and everyone else are pricing out and cashing in. Also seeing private jets land every 10 minutes throughout the round shows how unaffordable golf really is... just like hockey in Canada. Again awesome course, just ranting about how these sport's are not for the common folk yet its the most beautiful game out there which I wish everyone could enjoy.

SPECIAL PLACE FOR GOLF

The TPC Courses are always a fun place to play, and can both challenge and entertain. Brother course to Stadium, which is getting ready for the WM Event, it is a nice layout. If you are a easily distracted golfer, the course is in the path of the Scottsdale Airport, so lots of noise as the jets dropped in for a landing.
Staff was very supportive, and helpful, and the Drink Cart had smalls of Jamison, so now one of my favorite courses!!!

Slow play tainted an otherwise pleasurable round

I was really looking forward to playing the course and felt a 1:06 tee time should have allowed completion of 18 holes with time to spare. Unfortunately the two groups ahead of us were obviously poor players, even though they were playing a scramble. They played off the black tees, but barely hit it past the white tees on numerous holes. The "cart path only" situation only made it worse. As we were running out of daylight, they continued to dilly dally and held up several groups that clearly thought they would finish before darkness. Our group finished around 6 pm, in the dark, and as others came in they were upset. The course itself was fun to play, challenging yet enjoyable. The staff was great, friendly. The amenities were very nice also. Recommend the rangers enforce a pace of play given the amount of money people are paying. Perhaps even set a minimum handicap to play.

Really nice

The design and condition of the course are excellent. Service was friendly and helpful. The only negative was that we had to keep the golf buggy to the paths at all times because of the overseeding and watering of the fairways. This meant that play was slower and judging distance and club selection more time consuming. But carrying would have been feasible as distances from greens to tees were not long. Of course the weather was perfect which is why we came to Scottsdale in November from the UK where it is now cold, wet and muddy!

Fun, friendly, full experience

You will waste no time upon arrival getting to the range and ready for your round. The pro shop, range, 1st tee, and practice putting green area are next to the parking and club drop. All top notch.

The course has multiple tee options to fit your skill level. I played the blues as an 8 handicap. I could have played a black/blue combo but with the wind being a factor I just went blue. The course has wash areas across the entire fairway on several holes that I rolled into. I tend to hit a long drive (270 - 290) for my handicap, so perhaps I should have selected black/blue tees to roll short of those. Greens were a little long, but perfect condition. Probably intentionally long for late Oct/ early Nov golf. Several memorable holes and options to cut the corner. Careful not to stray right on the first tee… the range balls are invading that area and a long drive puts you into wash trouble. A 3 wood is probably the best bet. Definitely plan on taking the direct route to 16 green! Challenging and fun track.

TPC Scottsdale Champions

I would highly recommend HCP’s of 10-20 play the white tees or Reds… you really need the short club when hitting onto these greens. (Avoid the three putts on the slower greens)
Staff is fantastic! Course is amazing but the sand traps vary from wet heavy sand to thick sludge (it ain’t Florida, Toto). October is still HOT.. 101* at 3pm on Oct 17, 2023…. Play the fairway. And be patient, everyone paid the same to play and it’s about enjoying the course and MTN VIEWS! Take in the course and play your conservative game!! 😎👍🏽👍🏽. Cheers!

TPC Scottsdale Championship course

Loved the course and the service. Only one thing that needs to change. Don't sell cold frozen stale muffins. A beautiful place like TPC can, serve nice warm fresh muffins that can, easily be made each morning. Charge that little extra and it will go a long way. Had a wonderful day.
