Good course, bad pace of play.
Star fire is a beautiful course with lot of water hazards and decent greens. The staff was helpful and the tee box’s are nice, but nothing was great. What ruined my experience here was the pace of play, they let way too many groups on so the last 6 holes were stop and go traffic. Not a great time.
I play here frequently. My only reason on this rating is that we had 3 days of heavy rain, standing water and other rain related issues. However this is a fun course, in very nice condition and usually a fair price ( not in high season). I’m 73 and okay white tees. Therefore it’s a good course for me and my friends. I do recommend this course unless you are less than a 6 handicapper and want a more challenging course.
Could have been better
Course is nice but due to rain two days earlier it was still wet. No issue with course conditions because weather is weather but it was Cart path only and the ranger was on our behinds trying to rush us to pick up the pace. Rough areas were long making it harder to find balls and with all of this we still finished in just over 4 hours... foursome behind us never had to wait more than a minute to tee off because of our pace yet we were rushed which definitely took away from the experience. I’ll play here again because it’s close to home but I would not go out of my way
A nice, tight course
Following 5 days of fairly intense rainfall this course was still wet in spots but overall surprisingly playable. The fairways, tees and greens are in very good shape. The layout is tight due to the proximity of residences, but there is enough room for a rewarding round. Course is a bit short but still challenging. Greens fees are very reasonable.
Good course layout but greenA were full of pitch marks. Course officials said there was going to be a berverage/food cart going around but we didn’t see it once. Not a bad course for the value but hard to get over how bad the greens were.
Greens could use some work, or they need to inform golfers how to replace ball marks. Course was in good shape other than that.
Staff that allows a 3 hour 9 should ALL BE FIRED.
3 hours for 9 and quit after 12.
Fire the whole staff top to bottom.
This is not a good course.
It's a green parking lot.
Hope you find some other Suckers to watch 4 groups backed up.
Extremely slow play ruined my enjoyment
I have played Starfire on numerous other days but my round was spoiled by the extremely slow play. The forecast is for rain over the next several days so they fit every Tom, Dick and Mary they could on the tee time list today. I complained to the cart buy at the end of the round and he agreed they squeezed too many players on to the course. The course is in very good conditions,, although, the greens are extremely hard and do not hold the ball.
Disappointed that the staff would try to push so many players on the course.
Nice layout, although quite short at par 70, recommend the blues if you are below 15 HC. Fairways in real good condition and greens not so slick and hard.
loved to death
driven past this course dozens of times, felt it was time to finally stop and play... granted it is highest of high season, but only 1 person at pro shop trying to check in about a dozen people in line. She was solid, had 2 registers going at same time, but needed more than 1 employee. Course play was very slow.... we flew through first 3 holes, then hit a wall, waiting at every hole, not sure hold up, as had a couple threesomes in front of us, but didn't see marshal making groups move along. after 2:20 and only being on hole 8, we drove off course and went home. Quality was a bit disappointing... periphery was bad, not sure if golf course or HOA should be taking care of things, but clearly no one is. Appears too much play taking a toll on greens with tons of unfixed ball marks and brown spots covering many greens... ball rolled ok if you fixed the divots between you and the hole. Had seen/heard nice things about Starfire, but I felt it needs to close for a month and a ton of time needs to be put in to get course back to decent quality
Good value at this course
Pace if play was super slow on the front nine, but sped up on the back to finish in four and a half hours. Tee boxes are badly beat up. Greens are in ok shape, a little bumpy, but the speed is perfect. The drink cart girl was great, coming by five its six times during the round.
To difficult for older players. Long par 3's over water and false fronts on greens that don't hold shots then roll into water.
Great layout of a course. Greens and tee boxes are not very kept up on but didn’t effect play too much. The driving range was nice as well. Give this place a go around!
