Style Desert
Par 71
Length 7009 yards
Slope 144
Rating 72.8

Pinnacle at Troon North represents a stunning, challenging golf experience blended into the high Desert's natural beauty with steep arroyos, natural washes and forests of saguaros and desert foliage. Portions of some fairways are hidden behind boulders and hills. Huge greens surrounded by large bunkers and sloping terrain challenge golfers on every approach shot.

A round of golf on the Pinnacle Course at the Troon North Golf Club kicks off on a par-4 hole that measures 392 yards from the Black tees. Things get crazy long on the 16th hole, a par 5 that plays to 609 yards from the Black tees. By that measure, the 18th hole will be a cakewalk, at par-4 and just 447 yards from the Black tee to the clubhouse.

After finishing the Pinnacle Course at Troon North Golf Club, head to the Grille, which offers a view of others trying to complete the course you've conquered, as well as the desert.

Wow

Very rarely will I leave a five star review. This course deserves it. Top to bottom, amazing. I got on for a reasonable price so I may be a little biased. However this course is one of the best that I have seen. The layout gets better and better as the course goes on. Fairways and rough are in immaculate shape. Must play in AZ.

Tight and challenging

Rarely hit driver because the course was so tight, but a good challenge. Greens in good shape, recommended.

3 hour back 9, bad staff

I don't know what it is with this course, every time I golf there's an issue starting.

Last time I played I showed up to the tee box 15 minutes early, only to find that the starter sent my group out 20 minutes before the scheduled tee time, and had me hitting into them on the fairway.

Today the starter tells me "wait for the other twosome". No worries. He leaves. The other twosome shows up. It's 2 minutes past our scheduled tee time. We tee off. He shows up a minute later, and he lectures my playing partners about how we were supposed to wait for him to send us off? I don't get it.

Grass range for warm-up is great, but the TopTracer feature requires WiFi and it was down. Drink cart came around a few times. Nothing was posted about ordering food at the turn. 2 bottles of water provided, club cleaner in cart with towels.

The course had some unique holes - #3 is the monument hole with a boulder in the middle of the fairway on a dogleg par 5. Had me excited that the course would have other unique features, but there was nothing that you wouldn't find on other courses for another 10 holes. #14 is an uphill par 5 into a mountain full of boulders. #15 is a drivable par 4. #16 is an elevated par 3 with a city/mountain view which is 238 from the tips (plays like 200). Lots of rabbits, saw 5 deer crossing the path, even saw a bobcat. This was the easier of the 2 courses here.

Made the turn just over 2 hours and finished in 5 hours. Back 9 was a 5-10 minute wait every hole. Ranger approached groups ahead of us and told them to speed up, but this accomplished nothing, and he gave up after hole #12. This part of the valley is full of wealthy people who don't like being told what to do. Every green had several ball marks that went unfixed.

Condition is fantastic, there's rough here outside the fairways instead of dead grass like most courses. Greens weren't as fast as they were a month ago - thank goodness. Bunkers had good sand in them. Tee boxes could have been cut a bit shorter.

Troon North is truly a Beautiful Gem

I have been living in Troon North for 12 years after living in Scottsdale for 22 and I feel very lucky every single day to live in this neighborhood and that being said I’m also a real estate agent and I love working with people that love the lock off lifestyle, so if you’re ever looking .Please give me a call or hit my website brianford.com . It’s hard for me to decide which course I like better I really like both… Today I played the pinnacle course. It is an excellent shape. The greens are rolling very true and fast, but the fairways are lush and the views are incredible, monument back nine is probably my favorite, but you can’t go wrong with either course at all… Hope you get lucky to get the chance!

Exceptional golf course. Great conditioning. Staff was VERY friendly and accommodating. A very true test of golf ability regardless of the tee selection. Definitely will play it again.

Not Worth the Money

Played Troon North as a Single, with no one else out there and was very much at my own pace (yay!) but I do have to say at 280$ before tax it's not worth the money. It is a nice course and very well kept but from an interesting factor it just isn't there. Also there was apparently a tournament the Friday before I played (2 days before I played) where a bunch of pitch marks were not repaired and the green was so beat up it really felt like a bit of a ripoff for not being told about the conditions....

Go play Southern Dunes, We-ko-pa, or Quintero for a better experience at a much better value for your money

Communication issues everywhere

Beautiful course exactly what you think of when you want to play Arizona golf. Just wasn't a 5 star experience, not even close.

Communication issue #1: incorrect electronic communication. When we booked the e-mail said that the course would be "carts 90 degrees", then when we get to the course they tell us "Cart path only". Bait and switch.

Communication issue #2: starter. We checked in with the starter 20 min before the tee time, and when I asked who we were playing with 13 minutes prior to my tee time he said "the people you are with already teed off". What? I had to yell down the fairway on #1 to my partners who already hit their first drives that "hey, heads up, we're partnered with you!" Keep in mind we were not late, but 13 minutes early, then felt rushed to hit our first drives and put in a weird situation with our partners.

Communication issue #3: ranger. We booked a 1:05pm tee time - since the course spaces tee times out 10 minutes you're going to have a sub-4.5 hour round, easily getting the round in before the 5:25pm sunset. However we ended up waiting on hole 2, hole 3, and then the ranger came up to us on the hole 3 fairway telling us to play faster to make sure the group behind us who was "paying more" would get their 18 in. What? We're on hole 3, we had to wait on every tee box, and we teed off ~15 min ahead of schedule.

Just to add - myself and another member of the group were both Troon Card members - we were not using 2-for-1s. Why even buy the card if you're going to be discriminated against for using it?

Communication issue #4: bag drop/cart drop off. There's a bag drop which is nice but there was no communication what happened after you dropped the bags. Just left them there and they miraculously made their way to the other side of the clubhouse. Drop off was even more frustrating as there was no one directing where carts should be left, and no signs indicating how to get to the parking lot. We ended up asking people who weren't staff because there was no staff available.

The course is beautiful but it's target practice. Could only hit driver on a few holes. It's not good enough to hit fairways, balls roll off on many holes. The greens were the fastest I've played all year and there's deep bunkers around many of them. The bunkers had a lot of sand in them. Don't think anyone in our group made a putt all day, very difficult greens.

Not sure if I'll make it back to the Monument course.

In good shape post overseesing

The course is in good shape after overseeding. The greens were very soft and receptive. Only drawback was cart path only due to recent overseed. That did cause the play to be slower than normal. Its a great track and will challenge the best golfers. Watch out for a push fade or slice on the par 5 #14. The homeowner who lives just off the cartpath is a bit of a jerk. If you come near his wall he whines. Unfortunately I pushed it and had to deal with him. Our 4some was able to laugh it off.

Great track. BEWARE Cart path only

Course was great. Lots of unfixed ball marks
Which I thought was odd and the cart path only rule made it for a long day and not as relaxing as I would have hoped. The course itself like I said was in great shape

Beautiful amazing experience.

Sure, it might have been 105…but it was one of the best rounds of golf I’ve ever experienced. The course is challenging, the course layout complimented the natural surroundings, and the course conditions were second to none. This was top 5 golf experiences for me…ever.
I wasn’t wowed by the staff interactions, but in Scottsdale for sub $125/round, I wasn’t fully expecting it. Everything felt a little self service in comparison to say, TPC…but I’d put this course up against any other course I’ve played in Scottsdale in terms of natural beauty, challenge, and overall experience.
