Talking Stick Golf Club - O'odham Course
The Talking Stick Golf Club features two golf courses designed by the architecture team of Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, who created distinct golf courses with enough choices to accommodate all levels of golfers. The golf club sits on the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community reservation, a spot that provides the serenity necessary to endure a testing day of golf.
"Talking Stick's O'odham (formerly known as North Course) course, with its broad, angular holes rewards thoughtful play through the rise of its many options according to one's level of skill. Its low-profile, slightly crowned greens and close-cropped approaches encourage running as well as aerial assaults." -- Bill Coore & Ben Crenshaw
The second hole is a par 5 that measures 552 yards from the Black tee and is one of two long holes, with the 17th being a par 5 that plays to 582 yards from the Black tees.
The 18th hole on the O'odham Course at the Talking Stick Golf Club is shorter, relatively speaking, a par 4 that measures 471 yards from the Black tees.

The course is covered in Canadian geese. Greens have poop all over them. For the amount of money that we paid the least they could do is keep is clear of goose droppings. They have a real problem and by their own admission are doing nothing to manage it.
Aside from the obvious goose problem the course is average layout wise. Greens rolled true when not covered in goose poop.
Overrated, nothing special , won’t ever play it again
Course is not worth the price. For the amount we paid the least they can do is keep the greens clear of goose poop. The canadian geese were everywhere. Golf elsewhere
Very nice course
Staff were great, course was in excellent shape. Greens were very fast. The pace slowed down on the back nine. Had a very good time.
Talking Stick Golf Course
Staff very professional throughout my time there. Club house very nice. Adequate practice facility. Overall this course is designed to help golfers of most any skill level to land tee shots in the fairways. Most par 4s and 5s fairways are like hitting on a wide open practice range making it very easy to keep teeshots in the fairways. The approach areas had some challenges as the greens are well bunkered. The greens rolled smoothly with speed around 9. Overall it was a pleasant day on this golf course.
Played Talking Stick North. The course was in good shape. The pace of play was a little slow. It was a 5 hour round. The staff was very friendly.
Played Great during and after Storm
We teed off in torrential downpour! Course looked like it would flood. One hour into our round it stopped raining and the incredible drainage allowed for first class playing conditions. Fun and challenging course!
Great Day at Talking Stick
Beautiful unobstructed backdrop of mountains. Front nine fairways were brown but didn’t affect play. Back nine had green fairways. Pace of play was fine until we got to 16 where all play came to a halt. There were three groups in front of us so we decided to bail. The course could use more yardage markers or carts with gps
decent course for decent price
Pros: Price, good condition of course, good pace of play
Cons: No beverage cart, yardage markers not visible due to failure to trim grass, transition areas under repair or improvement, cart died
I play this course semi-regularly and it is reliably in decent shape, especially fairways and greens.
The course is nice. The layout is just OK...more traditional than desert...greens were very slow but I believe they had just been aerated....I’ve played it before and it was in much better shape up in season
Hot and Dry
This is a nice course to play although it was hot and the conditions on the course showed it with dry fairways and greens. The fairways are wide and peppered with bunkers, especially in front of the greens, presenting a lot of false fronts.
The rough was cut nicely and the desert areas were weeds and, while trying to maintain the desert landscape, there were more weeds than other desert plants.
We played the South Course as the Course and practice putting greens were closed.
Practice balls on the range were provide, which was a nice touch.
I would play here again except the high season greens fees are a little exorbitant even with the nice pro shop and bar and grill.
HOT-@ The Stick
This course was fabulous. Scenic and in great shape The sun pounds this course all day and there isn’t a tree around. However, it’s worth the heat for the experience.
Pro shop was nice but the starter and cart teams were amazing. So good to all in our party.
Practice facility very nice!
98 out of 100. Missed perfect score due to lack of some possible shade. And that’s just cause I’m still hot. 113 degrees.
Course was fabulous
Hot hot hot
Everyone was really nice of this course despite the heat on this summer day the cart girl was accommodating the marshals were accommodating the office staff were accommodating
Just can’t TALK enough about this course
Great golf course, good shape, considering the heat and sun, today was 120 degrees.
Course is in pretty good shape considering it was mid August. A little dry greens were a little slow. But overall I felt like the course was in good condition. If I played there again I would definitely score better. Like most golf courses when you play in the first time you’re not prepared to score that your best. Staff was very friendly. Accommodating.
