Over seeding cart path only
Enjoyed the course but as with October golf out west over-seeding means cart path only. Nice course that is well cared for. The course is not a true desert layout as there is grass from tee to green and very wide fairways. The course is not overly difficult and has good length par fours and some shorter strategy type as well. I got a great deal on Golfnow and I’m glad I played it.
The course had just been over seeded and hasn’t quite gotten up to speed. In about 10 days if should be perfect.. it’s a great layout and a fair test for your game.
First day of golf in AZ
Price was too high for the conditions. Staff did a great job.
Great course and great value
The course was exceptionally well maintained. Greens were good and speed was average.
Pace of play was a little slow but tolerable.
Really enjoyed the north course and highly recommend it.
Very wet but still enjoyable
Played Talking Stick O'odham course on October 4, 2018 which was only two days after major rainfalls in the Phoenix area. Amazed that we were able to drive carts on the course! Several cart path detours due to standing water but the maintenance staff were working hard to remove the unexpected 'ponds'. Pace of play slowed a little by the wet conditions, but round still done in 4.75 hours.
It was our first time playing this course and we enjoyed the overall experience.
Total staff was professional and friendly. Wide open fairways give players with varied skill levels the opportunity to play shots to the green. Greens roll true and moderately fast. We will definitely be back next year.
range and putting green closed, bunkers were hard as rock, course in bad shape due to rains...
What’s wrong with this GPS
Got there early and the driving range was closed so we went out right away. There were a couple of holes where
the ground was under repair before the greens. That was not a problem, our biggest concern was the cart gps. The graphics were like a bad video game. The distances took forever to get close to what they really were and to show where the flags where. I had my own gps, but did not take it because they were on the carts. I would play either course again, but would avoid using there gps because it would only push my handicap further up then what I am playing at.
THE RANGE AND PUTTING GREEN ARE CLOSED
Was very disappointed when I showed up 45 minutes early before my round on the day off and was looking forward to hitting some balls and putting prior to the round just to find out at the range and all practice facilities were closed! BULL
Great Fun, manicured, pleasurable round
People super, and customer focused The grounds keeping crew do a super job. Super green. Fast play...and fun with generous fairways. .
Very good course
We played the south course which was in very good condition given its summer. The fairways were exceptional. We found playing off the gold was more challenging than the black due to the hazard placements. Although insignificant I also liked having water coolers at every other hole. Would definitely play again.
The course was in great shape. The greens were good a little sand on them, but over all good.
Great course, but bunkers unplayable.
First time playing at Talking Stick. Played South/Piipaash for around $40, great summer deal. Was surprised by how nice the course is and the fun layout. Greens, fairways, and tee boxes were all in great shape. Unfortunately the bunkers basically don't have sand and are filled with packed dirt. I know bunkers are hard to maintain so I usually don't complain, but the complete lack of sand at Talking Stick makes them almost impossible to play because most of the greenside bunkers have high overhanging brims. After a 6-shot bunker experience we started taking a drop for all bunker play. This really changed the feel of the game and was pretty sad given the quality of the course. It would be a favorite place for me as I live so close.
Practice area and facility is top notch. Was suprised. Pace of play was rather slow, and this seems to be a constant theme in the reviews. Was playing in a two-some and we got through in just over 4.5 hours, waiting at every tee. Not sure if they need to space out the tee times more or what.
Will probably return to give it a second chance because this place is so convenient for me, and has a uniquely fun/playable desert layout. Please work on the bunkers and update the public so we know!
Wait a month before you play
this time of year I always call to check on the condition of the greens. Which I did the operator was somewhat confused about the timeline. (that should have tipped me off)
Well long story short she informed me wrong and Monday was the first day of off of aerification!
So the greens were awful
the kid in the shop tried his best to tell us they were going to be great but they weren't.
Probably won't ever play there again.
Conditions of greens were awful today (they had just been punched) but usually they are in good shape.
Not a good value for the $
Great course for the weekend warriors however, if you are serious about your game stay away...fairways were not well kept and the greens were plugged and sanded. Impossible to run a ball up onto a green because the collars were muddy. Very disappointed with the course.
