The Talking Stick Golf Club features two golf courses designed by the architecture team of Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, who created distinct golf courses with enough choices to accommodate all levels of golfers. The golf club sits on the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community reservation, a spot that provides the serenity necessary to endure a testing day of golf.

"Talking Stick's O'odham (formerly known as North Course) course, with its broad, angular holes rewards thoughtful play through the rise of its many options according to one's level of skill. Its low-profile, slightly crowned greens and close-cropped approaches encourage running as well as aerial assaults." -- Bill Coore & Ben Crenshaw

The second hole is a par 5 that measures 552 yards from the Black tee and is one of two long holes, with the 17th being a par 5 that plays to 582 yards from the Black tees.

The 18th hole on the O'odham Course at the Talking Stick Golf Club is shorter, relatively speaking, a par 4 that measures 471 yards from the Black tees.

Disappointed

My dad wanted to play this course for a few years. We played the north course. Fortunately we got a hot deal of 131$ a piece. Only solid thing I can say are the greens are pretty close to outstanding, but other than that it was below average. Wet bunkers(didn’t rain for months before the round), bushy tee boxes, don’t even think about going into a pro shop because it’s under construction along with the parking lot. Course was wide open and simple. No gps on carts, no waters in the coolers, 5 hour 20 minute round on a Thursday. Played lone tree down in chandler a day before for $87 and if I had to choose or recommend a course with these kind of amenities (which were none) I’d choose lone tree every day. At least talking stick gives you range balls

Flat, easy, boring course

Very wide fairways. Flat. No water hazards. No doglegs. Can hit driver on every hole. Big greens. Par 70 so you only get one Par 5 on each side. An uninspiring layout but easy to go low.

Conditions were good post-over seeding. Greens were firm but weren't too fast, still cart path only in late November. Bunkers needed more sand.

Pace of play on a full course was just over 4 hours.

Overview

Course was in good shape. Course isn’t super exciting (no water holes) but faiways in great shape. Cart path only when I played. Just made sure to grab a few clubs on occasion. Bunkers a little hard. Played as a single hot deal for just $45 so obviously happy with that. Luckily paired up with two really nice guys who were good players. Shout out Alex and Will! Round was a touch over 4 hours. Pretty tough to lose a ball there, also starter makes it clear you should finish front in 2 hours which i liked. On the back he told me he informed group in front to pick up the pace. They were slow on greens. Staff was really nice. Once renovations are done will be a much better experience when you finish round. Right now there is no hot food.

Green is the color

The course was in immaculate shape as we learned the course had been over seeded a couple weeks prior. The greens were a bit on the slower side but they rolled true throughout the course. Prior to playing I read a lot of reviews complaining of slow play and despite the course being very busy we got around in four hours and 10 minutes. I’ll be back to play here the next time I’m in Scottsdale. An A+ day

Good track

Super wide fairways and little in the way of hazards other than bunkers make this an enjoyable experience and less stressful than some of the target courses. Greens and fairways in good shape. GPS on carts could speed up play even when it is cart path only. Some construction going on that challenges parking but little else. Not sure what the signature hole would be, not much in elevation changes . Overall fun golf course.

Over priced for the value

Club house under renovation and closed. Cart path only.
If the course notified golfers ahead of time of the renovation and cart path only, I would not have played there.

Roads and clubhouse under construction

The golf course was great. The only negative was the construction activity and lack of signage with instruction of where to check in, get a cart, etc. We understand when done this will be an improvement but don't let people wonder what to do upon arrival.

Another try - another disappointment!

This is the third time playing this course. It is very well maintained and it looks like a great course, however I have never played the entire 18 holes. Talking Sticks packs in WAY too many people into this course. First-it seems like there is always construction going on at the course-difficulty to find a parking space and then find the clubhouse. Two - again-didn't have enough carts, had to wait for a cart to be returned and we almost missed our tee time. Third, the pace of play was horrendous!! We waited on every hole and we only played 6 holes in 2 hours. Not worth the time, energy and pay. I'm done!

It's ok.

Course is boring, no elevation, greens were fuzzy and slow. Bunkers were a crusty sand. (The club did get through it fine). Nothing that you envision for Arizona golf. Nothing spectacular. Will not be back.

Slowest pace of play in AZ

Got stuck behind a father and son where the father would give his 8 year old a 10 minute speech then the kid would shank it. They finally let us play through then the next group was lining up puts like they were on tour. This place is notorious for a slow pace of play but this was ridiculous. I am done playing here.

Great course!

This was a great course to play. It was a very friendly resort course with wide fairways and big greens. The course was in excellent shape all the way around. There are not a whole lot of super unique holes, but it was a great course to play and for the price it’s definitely worth playing again.

A Cut Above

Played 18 each morning I was in Scottsdale and came here after. Considerably firmer and faster than elsewhere, better turf, really beautiful place. Abundant wildlife, breezy pace, met great people out on the course. Definitely coming back and highly recommend the evening summer round, really not that hot and extra beautiful.
