Chiricahua Course at Desert Mountain Golf Club
About
The Chiricahua Course at Desert Mountain Club is one of six Jack Nicklaus Signature courses at the club, which is the only club to offer that many courses designed by Nicklaus. Like most of the other courses, the Chiricahua Course has a typical desert-style layout with natural desert landscaping around the fairways and greens. Although the fairways are generous, the large and undulating greens require a deft touch. The distinguishing features of this golf course are the dramatic elevation changes that range from 2,800 feet to over 3,600 feet. At such heights, the course guarantees spectacular views from almost every tee.

Outlaw at Desert Mountain
This is the Last course Jack Nicklaus has designed at Desert Mountain. Outlaw was opened in 2003 and is a links design. Much of the course has views of the Tonto National Forest, and Four Peaks, The Mcdowell Mountains and Pinnacle peak can be see from this high terrain track. The fairways are for the most part forgiving but the greens and areas around them make for a real short game test. You will use every club in your bag and every type of shot here. Club selection is critical on the teeing ground. Outlaw is a truly a very fun and challenging course to play especially on the first visit.
Desert Golf at its Best
This is an outstanding golf course. As a mid-teens handicapper, I enjoyed the wide fairways and generously sized greens, which were rolled to perfection. Lots of elevated tee boxes, beautiful scenery, and a fabulous 9th hole to boot. Plenty of length for long hitters from the tips, and the staff is extremely helpful and friendly. $210 for the round (guest rate) is a bit steep, but the round is memorable.
