Hillcrest Golf Club at Sun City West
Hillcrest Golf Club possesses a championship length course that offers a great variety of game options with five sets of tees. The course has a traditional design that features open fairways lined with trees, which put a premium on straight shots. The greens vary greatly with some that are relatively flat and medium sized and others that are quite large and dramatically sloped or multi-tiered. In addition to several sand bunkers, water hazards in the forms of lakes and ponds come into play. The signature hole is the par-5 13th, which has been touted by the Phoenix Gazette as being on of the best holes in the state. Hillcrest Golf Club not only has a dogleg around a lake, the hole requires an approach shot uphill to a green that is guarded by eight bunkers.

A lot of back and forth. The recent reseeding made for a lot of walking and the new grass slowed down the ball a bit.
The course was in pretty good shape when most of the courses in the area are in the process of reseeding or recovering from it.
No Looker, But A Challenging Course
This is a typical Sun City course where the fairway grass is in reasonable shape, but what you get in the rough is pot luck. Upkeep of the course is a bit lacking, but the layout has appeal; most golfers would find the course a decent challenge. The driving range and practice areas are adequate to get you ready for the round.
A nice day for a round
Overall course is recovering from summer so greens were slow and a bit splotchy. Like this course as it is forgiving on errant shots . Overload time
Course is in rough shape. Staff was great! No cart or beverage service on course. Restaurant no open until 7:00
Some of the greens and tee boxes need work , staff is very friendly from the person behind check in counter to the lady at the snack bar
Don’t waste your money!
Staff is great but course is in terrible shape. Sand traps aren’t sand, full of rocks, fairways are rough. Greens are good though.
Excellent customer service
Excellent customer service
Love this course and the layout. The customer service is outstanding and the individuals that work there are very accommodating and friendly. I would recommend this course to anyone who wants to have a great day at golf.
I’m new to the area, have played about 6 times in 6 weeks at all different courses. This is the first one I can honestly say I won’t play again. The fairways were horrible and the guy from the cart barn in charge of the carts was a cranky old guy. I won’t play here again.
Hiilcrest golf course
Overall good value. Course was real wet greens were a little to slow for me. Layout presented some challenges and caused you to be creative at times.
I play this course often
This course plays very well & stayed fairly good until about two weeks ago. Very dried out, not all but most greens are really bad. Fairways have multiple dry patches/dirt. Course is a great play, staff is awesome, I will return but might wait until the course gets into better shape. Just that time of year
Value but hardly worth the price
Restaurant services are unavailable weekdays. Few golfers were on the course at 10:30. Tee boxes were acceptable condition, though some had no Tee number nor par markings. Fairways were generally in very poor condition. Should be playing "winter rules" in summer, but wasn't worth trying to find a good grass spot to move ball to. Greens and bunkers were acceptable condition though greens still rough after aeration. Good thing I knew routes between holes as cart paths were almost nonexistant in many locations. Don't expect to play here again this summer and don't recommend.
