Great Eagle Golf Club
About
Great Eagle Golf Club, rated one of the most affordable golf courses in Arizona, is a championship course in the West Valley. Although it has a traditional design there are several unique and challenging elements that come into play such as undulating mounds that cause uneven lies and well-guarded greens. Water hazards also come into play on four holes. The golf course offers three sets of tee boxes so that there is some flexibility regarding levels of challenge, but overall the course is suitable for any player. The Great Eagle Golf Club, in addition to the course, also offers both a chipping green and a putting green.

Just fine
I have come to realize that a round of golf can good or bad depending the weather and who you play with. With that said, even with a frost delay, t/times were caught up by my 11:40 start time. The weather continued to get better as the day went on. Kudos to the staff and starter for keeping golfers rolling. As a single I was paired with 2 great guys, Devin and Jim. We got along fine and they included me in their friendly banter.
The course has fairly nice green narrow fairways and really hardpack dirt rough. So, keep it in the fairways.
The greens true but a little slow.
Pace of play was slightly slow—probably due to frost delay. Our round took about 4 1/2 hours
Good value for the money. Played the copper tees at 6,300 yards.
Average Arizona Course
This course is an older course in the area. Front 9 needs to be updated. Back 9 is much better. They do not work the bunker's at all. They are hard as a rock. Should just get rid of them. Rental carts need to be upgraded. Restaurant/Bar has great food and atmosphere with many large tv's. Friendly staff.
Slow play
I wish people that don’t no how to golf would go to a par 3 or stay on a driving range until they are able to golf, 5 hour rounds don’t cut it when you follow people that don’t no how to golf. Very frustrating.
Enjoyed the round
Fairways fine, greens fine, sand traps suck, lots of trouble if off the fairways.
Lots of water
The course had lots of standing water due to a storm the day before. The fairways and greens were good, but any shot off the fairway found water or mud. The sand traps were horrible and unplayable. They were either wet and mud or hardpan.
Overpriced
Too much money for what we got. Treated like second class when maintenance crew kept mowing and blowing as we tried to play through. We played most of the back 9 without tee markers because they never replaced them after mowing the boxes. I get it if we were playing an inexpensive muni, but for over 80 dollars I expected a little better treatment.
Overpriced for what we got
The playing area of the course (fairways, greens, tees) were in good condition but as soon as you rolled off the fairway the surrounding areas weren't maintained well at all. The staff was mowing and trimming as we played, but didn't seem to want to pause their work and let us play through like most crew members do. Most of the tee boxes didn't have markers on the back 9, the mowers had moved them and hadn't put them back. I really felt like paying 84 dollars for the round, we would have been treated a little better.
