Great Shape, Fun Course
With the exception of the areas on the perimeters of the greens where the course is taking the greens back to their original size, the course was in great shape. The tees were already being scalped for overseeding but it didn't affect the playability of the course at all. A fun course where one is rarely out of play and the pace was well-kept.
Excellent course with very friendly staff
We've played this course twice now. Both times the course was in excellent shape and everyone there was very friendly. The course has nice wide fairways, some water but it doesn't come into play too often and very nice greens. The food and drink prices are very reasonable and the food is very good at the restaurant. This is becoming one of our favorite courses.
lots of grass
greens were in great shape along with the fair ways, we will play again, tee blocks were flat and lots of grass.
west valley
this is a fun course with a nice layout. not overly difficult, but better players can play the blue tees and it plays to around 7000 yards depending on where they put the blur tees. 2 long par 4 on the back, one measured i think 437. greens a bit slow, fairways good, bunkers looked as if they could use some work.
forgiving
Lots of water, but it really only came into play on a couple of holes. Overall, the course was very forgiving. Bring your own gps - there are only 150 yard distance markers.
Need some golf love???
For the most part the course was in ok condition. There were many thin and bare/dirty spots in the fairways and the greens look and play poorly. Some of the greens had sanded repair spots or spots that needed to be sanded and repaired. Am hoping they can fix this patches when they redo the course in a couple of weeks.
On the other hand it is fun to play and a bit of an ego boost as there are very few bunkers or hazards. Very wide and open. Tiger would (possibly) love it. Ha. Fun to play. Brink your own liquids, not much water on course.
Good course but a few of it's neighbors are better.
Playing Desert Springs completes my goal of playing all 30 full length courses on Golfnow in the NW valley. It's a pretty straight forward course in reasonable shape but doesn't offer much excitement or variety. One of the best club house and practice areas and staff are it's outstanding values. But the golf was somewhat boring with little trouble off the tee and around the greens. If you want to score well it should rank high on your scale.
Awesome Track
got a hot deal for $21 with a slider and a drink. Might have been the best golf deal ever. Course is fantastic. Greens were slow but were just coming out of overseeding. Will definitely play again. One of the most fun courses I've played in the Phoenix area. Was pleasantly surprised by this course.
Great Course / Great Value!
The four of us all really enjoyed the Desert Springs Course. It was cart path only, but we finished in under 4 hours anyways! Course is in great shape, and a good test..... Usually difficult to find available tee times.... My three playing partners had never played the course before, but all want to come back asap!!
Worth the trip
This was a shotgun start and was paired with 3 others. 2 dropped out after 9 because of slow play. This was only the 2nd day open after re-seeding. The roughs were 6-10 inches and easy to lose the ball. There is no roll. The greens were also slow. Lots of people hunting for their ball. Cart path only so a couple of 100yd jaunts on the par 5's was not uncommon. This course has the layout of a championship course with undulating green, Water and plenty of well placed bunkers. There are false fronts and elevation changes and very generous fairways
Overseeding
It is probably a very nice course, but when i booked my tee time, i didn't know they were scalping the course as we tried to play. If they are going to work on the course, don't do it as we play. Either close the course and work on it or let us play without dodging all the workers.
GOOD TO BE BACK
I HAVENT PLAYED DESERT SPRINGS IN QUITE A WHILE. DIDNT REMEMBER MUCH OF THE COURSE OR FACILITIES. EVERYTHING WAS IN GREAT SHAPE, INCLUDING THE COURSE CONSIDERING THE SEASON. NICE TO SEE THE FOOD AND BEVERAGE OFFERINGS WERE PRICED WITH THEIR PATRONS IN MIND....WISH MORE COURSES WOULD FOLLOW THE SAME AGENDA-THEY WOULD ONLY SELL MORE PRODUCT!
Great afternoon
Everything was wonderful. Will definitely play again.
Hot Deal
I stumbled into this course as Hot Deal Special sponsored by Golf Now. Probably the best $10 (plus GN Fee) that I have ever spent on anything golf.
Nice course for my level (15 Hndcp) and I was able to score. Fairways were wide which helps my game.
The staff treated me very well despite the Golf Now discount and the drinks were inexpensive. Happened to be paired up with two nice people making it a wonderful 3+ hours.
This Course Is In Great Shape
Really enjoyed playing Desert Springs G C, a course that was NOT full of the typical burned and bare spots from tee to green that I see at many/most courses in the summer. Kudos to the G C crew and management. Staff was very friendly and the price was right for golf and also for beer and a dog. It was a bit of a drive for me to get there but it is well worth it and I will go back to play here again soon. Plus a 3 1/2 hour round on a Saturday, how great is that.
Great layout and condition
I was very pleasantly surprised at the condition of this course for August. Fairways and greens in excellent shape, better than some courses in winter. Good layout and good pace. Will definitely go back again.
nice day toplay
All round a great course. I will play there again.
Desert Springs
Sun City Grand always keeps their courses in good condition. You can't beat the summer prices and their food and beverage prices are always reasonable.
This course was a pleasure to play
We are very fortunate to be able to play great courses like this
Very straight forward, enjoyable course.
Staff exceeding helpful and friendly. Greens in good shape as well as fairways.
