Catalina Course at Omni Tucson National Golf Resort & Spa
About
The Catalina Course is one of two golf courses at Omni Tucson National Resort. It is more well known than its sister course, the Sonoran, since it is both the original layout and it has been host to over 30 PGA Tour events over the years. The Catalina Course is a traditional parkland layout while the Sonoran offers true desert golf, as its name would imply. The challenging design incorporates eight sparkling lakes and a total of 80 bunkers strategically placed throughout. The 18th is touted as one of the finest and most demanding finishing holes on the PGA Tour. This tricky par 4 leaves little room for error with water along both sides of the fairway, it also requires a blind tee shot to a well-protected, elevated green.

#16 plays fairly steeply uphill. I was 16 inches for a birdie, after hitting a solid 135 club from 109 out. Photo submitted by Jonathan5270953 on 08/14/2013

catalina course - tucson nat'l Photo submitted by bellefeuille on 11/25/2012
perfect
the grass of the fairway in the Green was perfect! The course play a little tough because it has desert on some sides of some holes but the fairways are generous and that grass is great to hit from. Rings were a little speedy but really nice and they held the ball. Beautiful views and a gorgeous day!
Had the course to ourselves
I paired up with another single and we never had anyone ahead or behind us the entire round. It was a Monday, but a Monday before Veteran's Day; so I figured it would still be crowded. Had a leisurely round of golf and made a new golfing buddy.
Mature course with some history
I was attracted to the course because of its past hosting of a PGA Tour event. Magnificent tall trees line the fairways. Unusual in this area. Greens with good speed. Average design and layout.
Always a challenge.
Great course.. greens rolling true..penalizing rough.. always a treat to play here... i like catalina course better than sonoran.. :)
One of my favorites!
The Tucson National is always in great shape, the staff is excellent and the value is always just right.
Top Notch
Played Sonoran, condition excellent.
Good test but very playable. Can't wait to play again
I can't wait!
I've played the Sonoran course twice which I really enjoy except for the silliness of hole fifteen. The Catalina course is nothing like it's partner. The Catalina course is more like a Southern California course. It is a fun layout. It still isn't in great shape because of the over seeding, but I can't wait to play it in a couple of months.
Great course
Great course.Staff and facilities....outstanding.I am looking forward to playing this course again
Solid golf
In my opinion the Tucson National is a must play if you are the Tucson area. Great track with great shot value
cart path only only drawback
From the moment we dropped off our clubs till we finished just a great day. Even had the marshall take picture of our group Played in 4 hours wonderful

Très bonne condition de jeu, niveau de difficulté très intéresant avec plusieurs choix de départ.
Great Shape
Best shape of any course in Tucson. The greens are beautiful. Great views of Catalina Mountains.
Beautiful layout
Beautiful course and scenery, but it would've been nice to know the greens were scalped in preparation of overseeding. Greens wouldn't hold and were difficult to judge speeds.
catalina course at Omni Tucson Golf Resort
Was told the course was in prime condition and when we played 2 days later, the greens had been scalped, were brown and quite possibly the worst greens I have ever played on in 40 years of golf
Stay on the fairways
While many of the area courses are closed for overseeding, this course has done some minor preparation for closing. The fairways were nice, the rough was extremely thick, and the greens slightly bumpy. My recommendation is to avoid the rough at all costs. We lost balls just off the fairways due to the deep rough.
great course in good shape!
The Catalina course is in pretty good shape for this time of year. The rough is super thick right now so finding your ball can be difficult. The greens are a little bumpy but not bad. The fairways are great and the bunkers are good.
A break from the typical desert courses
Great course with a "midwestern" flavor - not a cactus in sight.
As a twosome, we were stuck behind a slow hacker foursome - the ranger was no help as long as our overall pace was 4 hours.
Tough test
Sonoran Course is a tough test of golf. Bunkers come into play and the Catalina Mountains influence the speed and break to your putts.
Like the course very much.

Nice. Very solid course....guess that's why the pro tour has been here so often. Wish they'd get back on Golf Now!!!
