Challenging nine hole course
The fairways, greens, sand traps, and carts were in excellent condition, and the staff is always very friendly and helpful. This is a nine-hole course, but is pretty challenging (not an executive course). The mountain and valley views are beautiful.
Don't plan on using your driver very often on this 9 hole course. Fairway's are tight and Jumping Cholla boarders the fairways. Beautiful course. Greens were tight and well kept. Fairway grass was well kept as well.
Windy day on a challenging 9 hole course
This 9 hole course is a hidden secret. AS far as I can see it is every bit as difficult as you wish a course to be. Not many people playing it, I guess because it is not marketed or advertised. We were told it will close for the summer, to bad it would be fun to play a quick 9 when it is 95 to 100 degrees. I understand the city of Oro Valley owns the course, they should market this course better if they want more play and profitability. This was great for a quick game while staying at the hotel!
Convenient and well maintained
Played this course a number of times recently. Course is in great shape. Staff friendly. Would highly recommend. Plays in about 2 hours.
Course was in excellent condition. Need more carts and promotions. Need to have golf shop restored and open course earlier AM and remain open through mid afternoon.
We played this course several times last year. The course was in excellent shape back then. That is not what we experienced this time. The Pro Shop was "sharing" space with the Tennis shop. The course was in the worst condition I've ever seen. I will not go back!
Challenging 9 holer
Fun course. Open seasonally. Very few flat lies. Lots of elevation. Probably considered an exec course with just one par 5. Well watered for a desert course.
This course is a train wreck!
My daughter came from San Diego to play this course with me. She had researched on the internet and based on the course's web page, the new golf boards were available. Wrong! we were told that only the two 18 hole courses offered the boards.
We arrived at 8:30 a.m. and had to check in at the tennis shop since the golf shop was locked up. The young lady that checked us in was very nice, but not knowledgeable about golf.
There were no golf carts out and we had to wait for a worker to show up to get us a cart. That's the good news. The condition of the course is very substandard. Has not had anyone working at maintenance.
Layout is good and this could be a good course, but not under this management team.
For the average golfer who doesn't play multiple times a week, this is truly a challenging course, but beautiful setting and the pace of play is great as no one "pushes" you. It is only 9 holes for the golfers who want to play more--you play it twice! There is no marshal nor drink cart so take your stuff with you. At the start you are offered a free cup of ice and they have the mini ice chests on the carts for your use. For the above average golfer, you'll delight in the challenges of this mountain course - absolutely tricky, but again, the setting is exquisitely mountainside with Sonoran desert shrubs and trees flowering all around, quail & bunnies, and the occasion coyote or snake around the edges. The course is ringed by one-story condo/townhomes that gracefully give color and interest on the edges of the fairway. Truly a jewel of a little course. When the winds dry out the greens, they are fast!
Jay, the Starter does the best job I've experienced anywhere.
The course should open earlier in the morning, especially in warm weather.
Course is challenging.
Played 9 holes with friends and had excellent time. Starting guy was great, course in good condition and no crowds to push us. Played a more 'prestigious' in the area and starter was rude as were many of the golfers on the course. The issues was slow play. Did not matter that we were behind a slow group that included new golfers, people were rude. This course was the polar difference, Nice staff, nice course. In fact we canceled next day play at a different course to come back to this course.
Cheap Course, Great Views
You pay for what you get. The best thing about this course are the views. Don't play unless you want to leave the driver in the bag and hit mid irons all day. Because of the price lots of beginners which made for slow play. No alcohol on course, which made the slow play painful.
Best 2 hour round in Tucson
Wonderful challenging course with incredible views in the foothills of the Catalina Mountains. No back-ups, relaxing round played in 2 hours.
