Long time between rounds here
Last played this course over 20 years ago. Lots of great memories and I played well. Was disappointed that all bunkers were filled with grass...no sand. Guess they were a victim of the pandemic and the budget of a city course that found it too expensive to keep the sand.
A Wonderful Day
Course is in great shape. Pace was good. People were friendly. Couldn't ask for more. Thank you.
It’s good to be back in Tucson
My wife and I are in Tucson, from Florida, to visit friends and family. I always try to get out and play a couple rounds of golf with my son while we’re in town. We picked Crooked Tree for the price and proximity to our home. I have played this course more than a 100 times, and we were not disappointed this time out. The course doesn’t look great from the parking lot, but once you walk into the pro shop/courtyard area, it is a top notch facility. The staff was friendly, and the practice facility (putting, chipping and driving range) are all in great shape. Awesome rate, we played for less than $40 per person. That doesn’t happen in the Panhandle of Florida! The course is not a courtyard club, but it’s a fun track, that was in great shape, with greens that will impress you. If you are in Tucson and looking to get out a play some golf, you won’t be disappointed with Crooked Tree
Nice course
Course is in the best shape I've seen it. Greens were in good condition and held true. Fairways all in good shape. This course is fun and relatively easy to play. Definitely recommend.
Pace is Too Slow
It’s a decent track (even though there is no sand in the bunkers), but for what you pay on a Sunday, pace of play is unacceptable. No rangers pushing people along and no etiquette displayed. On the front nine there were 2 holes where 3 foursomes had gathered on the tee box! I couldn’t take it any longer after 12 holes and walked off. 2.75 hours to play the front 9.
Crooked review
For my golfing dollar Crooked Tree golf course is overpriced for conditions I received.
The tee boxes are mostly mounded thus causing uneven tee off conditions. Fairways were good, but not consistent. The fairway bunkers are a complete joke, waste areas filled with some weeds. The greens were very grainy. One could hear the putts grabbing as ball was rolling. Overall I will play here again, but hope for much cheaper fees. This is a $40 golf product.
Great day
This was our first time playing this course. It was so beautiful and green. There were lots of people there but we completed our round in four hours. Great practice facility too. Will be happy to play there again sometime.
Great Golf Course
The tee boxes, fairways and green are in great condition. This is a desert type course with a lot of wildlife. We saw a coyote, jack rabbit, lizards, and accidently parked our golf cart over a rattlesnake. Be careful out there but enjoy the course. There are several dog leg holes which sre fun. We would definitely play here again.
Nice fairways and greens
Green were nice and fast while many times they are fuzzy and slower. It would be so much better if they could improve the areas just off the fairway.
Fairways n Greens
The fairways and greens are awesome. T boxes a little uneven but overall the course is in great shape. Good course if just arriving in Tucson because not real difficult.
Greed we’re in great condition
The group ahead of us were two feet from the green on every hole
Slow and not to bright
Saw maintenance and they didn’t do anything
Oh well
Covid golfers should take lessons and etiquette
Slow groups and loud music
The 4 som3 in front of us were consistently 1 hole at least the entire round. 2 groups behind us was someone blasting music. When did golfers think loud music was part of golf? Where was the ranger/Marshal.
Great shape
Course was in great shape. Pace of play was a bit slow, even for a Saturday (about 4:40).
Enjoyable round.
The atmosphere was great. Practice facilities fine. The greens were excellent, the fairways very good. Tee boxes need leveling. Would return
Nice value where locals play
This was a nice find on my visit to Tucson. The course is a very traditional layout with plenty of room off the tees. In most areas of the course if you don’t find the fairway it rolls into the native desert area and you can find your ball fairly easily. Just be sure you have a ball retriever as you never want to reach down with your hand and encounter a rattle snake of scorpion by accident.
Pace of play was very nice we got around on a very busy day in 3:45 minutes. They overseeded all of the sand traps which at first I was hesitant, but the grass in traps was very lush and if your ball finds one of these areas the ball is almost teed up and provides a decent lie. Two benefits, it speeds up play and also saves your clubs from getting nicked up which is common in many desert golf courses. It really makes a lot of sense to do this, when they do get rain in desert the sand in traps is easily washed away or when they get higher winds with low humidity sand disappears and sand in most desert courses shallow and filled with pebbles and rocks.
All of the tees and greens were in very nice shape. Plenty of grass and will accept decent shots from fairways and not bounce off. These greens rolled well but were very slow in comparison to other courses the area. Left several putts really short.
Other than that plenty to like about course. Plenty of good vistas of surrounding mountains and course is flat so it is an easy course to walk. The holes are spread out far enough that other groups errant shots don’t end up in your hole.
Best value for the $ in Tucson area.
Greens
Greens were very slow. Maybe 7 stemp
