About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2018.
The Golf Club at Vistoso in Tucson has never seemed willing to cower in the presence of its resort-course cousins. Paloma and Ventana are golf resorts, but the Golf Club at Vistoso is just a golf course, and a fine one at that. This Tom Weiskopf-designed layout was a "readers write-in" Golf Magazine's "Top 100 you can play," and is a "sneaky" favorite among locals and visitors alike. The layout is nowhere near as penal as Ventana or La Paloma, and if you can find better greens in the greater Tucson area, let us know. Take note of the 166-yard, par-3 third hole -- on a clear day (there are only 323 of them) you will have an amazing view of the north side of the Santa Catalina Mountains.

Very improved tract!
Vistoso has improved under its new management! The course is in the best shape it's been in some time and they've cleaned up some of the holes to be better visually and play friendlier. Please keep it
Pleasure
Vistoso is a beautiful, challenging but fair couse. Always a pleasure to play. Beautiful scenery. Love the Jack Rabbits on the 10th hole.
Mixed
Tees and greens in good shape. Fairways have many brown spots. Views great. Holes are challenging and interesting. No balls washers on entire course. Construction and noise on many holes. Detracts from experience. Habitat destruction painful to see. Price is right if all that doesn'the bother you. It did us.
Great Day for Golf
Beautiful views with challenging dessert carries, but smart play allows for good scoring. Went out as a single, and was paired with another single from North Carolina, and a father and son from Minnesota. We all had a great time. Fairways were a little soft due to over watering. Traps were a little thin on sand, but a good value for the money, and a great way to end 2015.
this course is in perfect shape
Vistoso is well maintained and the greens were perfect, totally challenging and in great shape.
Thanksgiving friday
Pace of ply was five hours. Course is ingress condition. Will play again.
Every one was great
We played 2 days back to back very nice course. Only thing we did wrong not eating at the club house first day. Food was great and so was server
Conditions
Beautiful area nice track the only two concerns were the fairway conditions seems as though the winter grass did not take. The other issue was to many wet spots, many around the greens.
This course has extremely poor signage.
They want you to buy a course map for $8.00.
That was a first for me.
It was hard to believe as this is a tough course to get around without some kind of map.
Too many other options nearby
There are many options within 15 miles or so of Vistoso. This is a decent design with many good holes. The pro shop was helpful in rearranging our tee time at the last moment and I commend the course for that. The pro shop man was a credit to the profession and the game. Too bad more course do not employ folks like him. Vistoso has a sign near the first hole indicating player skill level and recommended tees, something that every public course should have. There is also an attractive practice range. Unfortunately, as with many public courses, there is little pace of play monitoring. The ranger told our group that the course expects a 4 hr 20 minute pace of play. What kind of miserable expectation is that? A 4 hour maximum play for any foursome should be the expectation and rangers should be empowered by the pro shop to make firm but polite recommendations to groups not maintaining pace of play. It is no wonder we have far fewer golfers nationwide than we did 10 years ago. Let's face it - most of us, even the single digit handicaps, are not that good. The game is humbling and new each time we play. Make the game enjoyable for all by playing the proper tees for your skill level, maintain a speedy pace of play, assist rangers who want to ensure that all players have a positive experience, and do not think your $50 nassau is a U.S. Open qualifier. If you do, get out of my way and let me play through!
worth your time
course just came out of overseed and was cart path only due to having 2 plus inches of rain in the 2 days, yet was not really that wet was in pretty good shape greens held great, staff was outstanding mark in the pro shop great and the grill girls outstanding trying to make you happy.worth the drive from queen creek,az to play on a fantansic day for golf.paid $70.00 for golf, burger after the round and three water bottles, excellent value for this time of year in Tucson,az
Quit after eleven holes
We started on the back nine as a twosome. The groups ahead and behind were also groups of two. We all played quickly and finished in 1 hour and 15 minutes or so.
As we turned to play the front nine, we ran into 4 groups of four that were sent out on the front. If they had started on the back like we did, there wouldn't have been any issue.
We finally quit after eleven holes. Disappointing the way it was handled.
Needs some TLC and will be great!
I've played Vistoso probably 25 times. Sadly this place has gone down hill. The new management needs to start cleaning up the course. The desert was way over grown on the entire course. It's impossible to find balls hit into the desert and it takes away from the beauty that this course once had. There was a lot of damage in the fairways caused by javelinas. The repair job on them was horrible. I really hope this place gets it's act together because it was and can be again a great course in the Oro Valley area.
What Happened ?
Course is a mess , desert overgrown, could be beautiful if they got rid of all the scrub brush and bushes, looks like they have made an attempt but poorly executed...javelin damage everywhere...where they "repaired" it , again, very poorly done, back 9 you play with the constant , very loud noise of the construction of 300 houses going on... Overseed of greens a failure on many of the greens...Guy behind the front desk, welcomes you with, whats your time ?" Not very friendly....will not be back....
Beautiful course.
Beautiful course ~ considering they just over seeded. We expected it to be wet and soggy, it just recently rained a lot.
We really enjoyed our round of golf. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We definitely will be back ⛳️
Wet and soggy
There was no golf club cover on the carts. There were no ball wahers at tge Tees or on the carrs. The course was wet, soggy and flat. The greens were in poor condition.
Course is shaggy
Fairway grass is long and untidy. Greens are slow and bumpy. Play was very slow. Will be a while before I will go back.
