Pretty but not what I expected
Thanks to Golf Now I finally got to experience the one time private, now overpriced, Carmel Valley Ranch. I'm glad I played it, if only for the 11th hole where you tee off from the top of the world and face a uphill second shot that sends short approaches to a collection area about 100 yards out! Thankfully the green fees are cart included...not only for the hilly holes on the backside...but for a layout around a gated community that requires a long drive to get from green to tee. As far as from Tee to Green long drives are not required as this course is senior golfer friendly. There is GPS in the carts that works well, when it does, but the twosome with me could not work their's. Their cart almost died going up the backside as well, which could have been a disaster!
Not a lot of marshalls and when we saw one they didn't much care when members jumped in front of us with a 5 some. In fact I did feel a bit like an interloper. I would play it again if me and friends could all get a hot deal rate. But for the the normal asking price...there are too many other options here, to pay that much to play there. For a course that asks about $150 I expected more.
This is one of our favorite courses in town. Course is in great condition. Beautiful area.
Excellent day on the course
Carmel Valley Ranch golf course is very nice, relatively flat on the front nine, then challenging topography on the back nine.
Course was wet from plenty of recent rain, but greens were FAST as ever. Nice sunshine and great day to be out playing golf.
Lots of construction noise
Great layout but cart paths take you around lots of noisy construction which compromises the course beauty
Awesome Course, Views!
Played here on 12/22...course was in perfect shape. Plush fairways, fast smooth greens, even tee boxes. My favorite course by far (under $100).
Great course and amazing friendly staff
Had a great round at Carmel Valley
Short but challenging
Staff was friendly
Would come again when in the area
Always enjoy CVR!!! The people are great!, as well as the course!!!
Great condition
Nice to play w someone who knows the course… #12 needs some explanation and /or go look at the green first!
The course was well laid out and maintained. The Check in process was easy. Staff were all friendly.
Excellent golfing experience!
This course is spectacular and worth the effort to get there if you’re considering a trip to Monterey. Fantastic scenery, fun layout for golfers of all levels from if playing from the correct tees, and meticulously manicured from the tee boxes through the greens. I only wish I lived closer so I could play more often. You will not be disappointed.
Awesome course!!
Course was in excellent shape and the staff was amazing! Challenging back-9 but the layout made it very enjoyable!
Beautiful challenging course
Challenging at all levels. Carmel Valley is a beautiful setting
