My Take
I joined this NCGA club after driving up and talking with the GM. I wanted a place where I could walk nine holes. Since this place has 3 nine holes courses this seemed perfect. The GM told me there was a 9 hole rate so I joined. Upon my next visit, I went into check-in and walk 9 holes. When I asked for a walking 9 hole time I was told by the Pro that no such thing is offered. I told him I was assured by the GM when I joined that there was. He response was a bit condescending implying that I might be lying. So long story short, this is not a place to play nine unless you are willing to pay full price for nine holes.
All that being said, this course has a very good grass driving range. A large putting green. I fairly good bunker practice area. It also has a small chipping area behind the putting green.
There is almost always a wind blowing at this course so it can be a great challenge for your game. When the wind is down this course really shines! Consistent greens from hole to hole and nine to nine. Good bunkering that can be a challenge to avoid and make you think your way around the course.
The pace of play can be good if people play from their proper tee markers, no way to police that it's just the nature of the beast.
The food at the turn is nothing special, the usual sandwiches and hot dog variety. Nice patio for after play to wind down and go over your scorecard (personal gripe is $11.00 for a 4 oz pour of not so good wine, get a pint of beer instead). The service can be spotty in the clubhouse but that is to be expected at a golf course, after all, it is not their main focus. The golf is.
I personally like the Merlot side the best, it's a good mix of holes. Buy a "birdie" yardage book if you are going to play the course often, it will help where to hit the ball for the best approach to the greens. No real gimmicky holes on this course, unlike Wente.
So, it is a nice course and worth the drive when the wind is down. Or for a nice challenge when the wind is up.
I just wish there was a nine-hole walking rate.
OvervBooked
Course was overbooked! Started at 1:30 only got 10 holes playing. Course was hosting a tournament. I wish I would have known that. Maybe booking through your app is why I didn’t know that. Also, Could’ve saved $30 per player working directly with the course. Not a happy golfer but I did get a birdie!! Send me some real deals so I could recommend you in the future.
Great Course
Pace of play was slow but typical for a Friday afternoon. Was able to finish right at dark with a 12:45 start time. Course is in great shape. Greens played true. Staff was extremely friendly all around the course and I enjoyed my round. Thank you and I will be back!
Almost great, tad pricey for time of day
Course is pretty fun and the greens were in great shape. Now for some reason the greenskeeper decided to utilize a lot of the hardest pins at the course. I mean at least 4 pins were in tiny back shelves. I'd also say that $90 is a tad high for a twilight tee time. But I'll be back
Not impressed
Teed off at 1pm. Very windy. I was told it is usually even windier on most days. Teed up a ball on 18 and it wiggled a bit on the tee due to the wind. Not a visually attractive golf course. Looks more like patches of green in a cow pasture. Vineyards off the course are nice to look at. Fairways and tees were in fair condition. Greens were in great shape. My wife and I were disappointed overall. We have played Poppy Hills and this course pales by comparison. We will not be playing Poppy Ridge again. Would rather play Wente GC nearby again. Much more pleasing to the eye.
Slow play. Won’t return
The. course itself is nice, but the experience was awful. Had to bail out after a 3 hour front nine. Not a starter or a marshall or a beverage cart in site all day. Horrific pace of play. For 90 bucks they have to run a tighter ship. Rude staff that are more interested in standing around chatting to one another and act as they they are inconvenienced by their customers. Bird crap all over the restaurant patio and railings. Disgusting. Lame all around.
A choice of 3 courses for your round
A great course in Livermore. There are three 9-hole courses you can choose from for your round. Some of the holes test your skills and course management. Greens and fairways were great with exception of one hole that had big divots all across the green. The pace of play was too slow for when we went. It took 5.5 hours to play the round on a weekday. Overall a good experience but I hope next time we encounter a better pace of play and the course and it's not that crowded.
Great Condition
Played in 4 hrs with 1pm tee time. Traps could us a little work but fairways and greens great condition.
My group was painfully slow
The guys I played with were incredibly slow golfers. I wished there was a Marshall to push them along. But the course was in good shape and It’s definitely a challenging course. I would go back, but I would play with my friends and not pair as a single.
Beautiful course
Pace of play was horribly slow on a Saturday. We couldn't finish but the holes we played we had a great time and all the staff are super friendly
Good course, but not memorable
Conditions were good, clearly they maintain this course well. I can't complain about anything other than the cost and the layout. Upon arriving home and reviewing my round with my GPS device, I found myself already having forgotten much of the course. Most holes are forgettable, and the cost is way too high to be forgetting it almost instantly. Still was a fun day and conditions were great!
