Deer Island Country Club

Great track and layout, played at the 6,800 tees, so got my monies worth. Greens were just pinched and sanded, which I was glad to see in a maintenance perspective, and I still made a few good putts. Traps were good. The Negative was the course is full of weeds, fairways, rough, all over the course, need to take care of this issue.

If you haven’t ever golfed Deer Island you owe it to yourself to play a round there. It is unique. It is on an island between lake Dora and lake Beauclaire. As you can imagine there is a lot of water. I enjoy it every time we play there. It’s truly a beautiful course.

Excellent Course Layout in excellent condition. Looks and plays like a premium private Country Club style course. Famous golf course designer cues including landscaping framing the greens for visual effect and targeted shot placement off the tees . Nothing boring about any hole. Will definitely play again

If you like playing golf with a bunch of wildlife around you, this is a great course to be on. The holes are challenging and the wildlife is beautiful. Always try to play when we’re in town.

Greens fine, a few stress areas but putting smoothly. Tees, fairways and traps showing a bit of wear typical for this transition period. Nice layout, wonderful place to play, with the exclusive feeling of an island.

I love the layout of this course, some challenging holes, but the course was in great condition. Definitely coming back.

Course was amazing and in great shape. They advise playing a tee rating one less than you normally play - we took their advice and later thought we were wise to heed the warning. Greens at small and a lot of tricky water hazards. Winds off the lake can be hazardous. Great course!

Great course and layout. Conditions of course very good and is consistent from that standpoint. Pace of play was unusually slow and would have been nice for rangers to help speed things up rather than just watching. Very nice staff.

Staff were super nice from loading your clubs to checking you in to the starter. Course is in great shape. Greens a little slow but true. Layout has lots of water and need to bring a few spare balls. Pace of play was good until the all water par 3 that seemed to catch everyone by surprise. Scenery is amazing from wildlife to houses to the town across the lake.

Check in was a breeze, friendly staff. The carts out front should have been vetted and cleared of spiders. Ours had a 24" diameter active web from the roof to the A pillar/wind screen, which I did not notice until we got to a certain angle in the sun. Unfortunately both my brother and I were bitten on the backs of our legs down behind the knees.

Some of the fairways were far too thin and short making an otherwise good shot difficult. The greens seemed to have varying lengths and speeds.

A very scenic course with high levels of challenge, we played the white tees.

First time players on this course, our 4some of mid handicappers lost a total of over 20 balls 1 of which we are sure was consumed by a gator.

I’ve played a lot of golf in the Davenport Kissimee, Orange County area.. and this on worth the drive ! It was a very good challenge (water on pretty much every hole) and the course was in mint condition..! Great value !!

Great golf course. Always in good condition. Very interesting hole.will play every time I am in the area.

Love every hole on this course. Greens in mostly excellent shape, tees, fairways and traps good. Pleasant views and well-spaced tee times make for a great day of golf. Not overly long, but you must avoid water on most of the holes to score well. Abundant wildlife everywhere. Deer Island never disappoints!

My group had not played this course for over 4 years because of course poor conditions. We all agreed the greens, fairways, bunkers and tee boxes are in great shape. Terrific course layout and beautiful views abound.

Be ready to get wet!! Not that we even cared, as the scenery, layout, weather was on point. The course is challenging without a doubt and even more difficult with no 150 yard markers and no GPS on the carts. There are several holes with hidden waterways and slopes that can ruin a hole quickly. We received a pin placement only and thankfully we had a gps watch, otherwise it would be near impossible to guess on a few hidden shots/ greens. We will def go back for a “do over” on a few holes!
