South/North at Fernandina Beach Municipal Golf Course
About
South/North is one of three golf courses at Fernandina Beach Golf Club. The facility is home to three distinct nines that form three different 18-hole combinations. Winding through thick forests of oaks and pines, Fernandina Beach Golf Club's South/North course offers a glimpse at native Florida wildlife. The South nine depends more on accuracy rather than distance while the north nine, the shortest in length of the three, features undulating greens. Water hazards also come into play throughout the golf course. Fernandina Beach's 27 unique holes are made even more appealing by the affordable rates and convenient proximity to Jacksonville and the beach.

Not impressed
Greens were in very good shape but fairway rough was just that (rough). Some grass had not been cut in a good while. Driving range was closed due to recent rains. No cart service offered during the weekend. Gas powered carts were very slow. The west course is open and fairly easy to play. The south course has much tighter fairways but had shade which was nice for the 90+ degree day.
No
Tee boxes were terrible. Not much grass on the fairways
Grounds keeping
Good experience but the tee boxes were not kept good and most greens were very rough. Keep in mind this was early spring and would enjoy playing again to see if the course changes with the season.
CDN visit
I have been playing this course over 20 years now and as far as course conditions go, it has really not gotten any better, or worse for that matter, than in the past. It is a small local course, with relatively low rates (Hot Deal $29.99 incl cart), for an 18 hole outing on the golf course. Golf.shop staff always friendly, check-in easy, and starter friendly and somewhat flexible on tee off time (based on availability of course).
One thing worthy of note are new power carts, nicer than my private course at home.
I did not have a chance to try F&B, but in the past it has been fine. Washrooms and clubhouse always neat and tidy.
Worth noting if you don't wish to play a round is their excellent new indoor/outdoor range facility.
I will return.
The course was in better shape than when we played last May but still needs a lot of work. The greens while mostly filled in with grass had numerous weeds which made putting more challenging. I will continue to play this course because it is a challenging layout, reasonably priced and the new management is making progress to returning it to good shape.
Poorly maintained
Greens were in bad condition
Fairways and tee boxes lacked grass
Staff was friendly and respectful
Disappointed
Played 2 holes - then rain downpour, but no rain check or refund
Don’t waste your money
Played here for the first time and will not be returning . Course layout is awful. The greens are by far the worst I have ever seen with different grass growing throughout all of them . The guy in the office at check in was nice . But park ranger and other staff were horrible . If you’re not 65 years old and a member they treat you as if you’re completely stupid . The group behind us called the ranger on us for driving 15 feet from the green. The park ranger came out to us and scolded us for 10 minutes and threatened to kick us out , he acted as if we were playing at tpc sawgrass when in reality this course is a dollar general compared to the nicer courses I’ve played and for 50$ it was a huge waste. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY
Fernandina beach golf course
The course has a good layout. The problem is the shape of the course is not good.
