Another Baytree Experience
First off, if you’ve played Baytree before, then you know what you’re getting into. But today was a whole new treat. We started off our morning tee time on a busy day behind a group of FIVE. With thunder and lightning all around us, we were able to get in a few holes before we decided we shouldn’t be risking our lives out there playing and waiting for the lighting sirens to go off. Turns out the system was broken, so nobody knew. Once we returned to the clubhouse under our own choosing, we were basically belittled for coming back in and being smart. The starter and pro shop attendant both told us we were fine to go out while there was lightning and thunder cackling all around us. Once we tried to go back out, they had us start a few holes later which was fine. Once we made the turn and got to the 12th green, we were approached by the head pro who told us to pick up the pace. This would normally be fine but the group of old men behind us were playing from the front tees and playing a SCRAMBLE. The head pro decided he would keep making us play faster by continuing to sit in front of us in the fair way on the next two holes and be right in our line of sight just out of reach on all of our shots and then also right by the green. I’ve never seen anything like this in my life. I’ve never had a fun round ruined quicker than today. It wasn’t until he found out they were playing a scramble behind us from the front tees and we were busting our butt to stay ahead of them (and catchup with a twosome two holes ahead). What a way to ruin a round than to continually pressure a foursome to play ahead of a normal pace for guys playing a scramble during a normal day of golf. Not sure if I’ll be back after the way today was handled.
Starting to do some work
They started us on the back nine and we found out why when we made the turn. The front 9 had been sanded and parts of the fairways had been verticut. The greens putted okay, but the edges of the course were dry with a lot of places just dirt. The whole course looks like it could use lots of rain.
Hello, Cfoehl. Thank you for leaving us a review. We are sorry to hear your experience was anything short of 5 stars, but we hope you will give us another try in the future. Thank you for choosing Baytree National Golf Links.
Slow play Baytree
Slowest round of the year. Great course, layout, conditions, and staff, but need a marshal. After three holes we were 3 deep for the rest of the round. Several groups behind quit the round.

Decent course - slow Saturday
Course is better than when played three weeks ago. Tee boxes have more grass - so do the fairways. Greens are in good shape - some bunkers are still just dirt. The layout is challenging.
Two holes are not my style. One where your second shot has a blind carry and another hole that turns one way - then back the other way and has a blind tee shot. Played as a twosome. Three groups in front of us were incredibly slow and nothing was done. Almost 5-hour round - ugh - and with a ranger it was avoidable. Stocked pro shop - good restaurant. Generally friendly people.

Good Course, slow pace
I'm just an average golfer, but I can finish a round in less than 3 hours if players on the course are moving. Four hours is an acceptable average time to complete a round of golf, even if the course is busy, as it is this time of year in FL. FIVE hours plus is not! Won't be back until summer or unless some rangers are hired... whichever comes first.
I would recommend this course to a friend, just not right now with pace as slow as it is.

I was scammed
Upon booking the tee time as the guest of a member, I was told my guest fee would be $44. In a fraudulent bait and switch, I was charged $52 despite the fact the price sheet on the desk of the pro shop indicated the fee was $44 after noon. The tee time was 12:15. This was pointed out to the staff, but they failed to honor the published price.
The course was in lousy shape. Greens were sanded and patched. Fairways were bare dirt. Pace of play was 5+ hours. and the Staff were surly.
DEFINITELY NOT WORTH A $52 FEE WHEN I WAS QOUTED $42. AT BEST, IT MAY HAVE BEEN WORTH $20!

Very disappointing
I booked a tee-time for a foursome through GolfNow and paid a deposit. When I arrived, one had already checked in and I checked-in myself and one other, and let the staff know that our fourth would not make it due to illness. The staff member was not friendly or attentive as he continue to multitask and carry on other conversations while I waited on him. He made no mention of us owing additional green fees; but days later, a “no show” fee showed up on my credit card for the member who could not make it out, even though three of us still played at our assigned tee time. I called the GM and disputed the charge, and he refused to credit me for the charge, even though I never authorized it or was even made aware of it. Very disappointing experience as it basically cost me $180 for one round of golf and an average-level course. Won’t be playing there again.

Nice layout - poor conditions
This clearly could be a really nice course - it’s just in really bad shape. Tee boxes are dirt. Fairways are thin to put it kindly. Some traps are nice white sand - others are just raked dirt. Greens are in good shape. Had a tourney playing in front of me - that killed pace if play. Five-hour round. No ranger. Group in front of us were very slow - left several holes ahead empty. One of the carts in our group died on the 12th hole. It’s a nice layout - but don’t play until conditions greatly improve.

No need to play again
No one took my bag at drop off. No one put my bag on a cart. Waited at counter for 4-5 mins for someone to pay for the round. Note that there was no one else at the counter.
The course conditions were worse than any of the public courses I have played. Weeds on green and fairways in sloppy condition.
All of this would have been manageable but over two and a half hours to play 9 holes. Waiting on every shot and looking behind and seeing another group waiting on us. Just terrible.
