Solid course
The tee box ground is so hard, it’s impossible to plant my tee. But that same hard surface made for greater success in low drives
It’s Ok, but not special
$84 for 18 and cart. Kind of pricey for course condition and no driving range. It’s an ok change if you’re looking to change up playing location locally. I wouldn’t plan a special visit there otherwise.
nice track
okay, so first things first...no driving range, which is a SIN in 2023...nice putting green, but only a net (I guess) where you can hit balls?
nice track tough...they have put a moderately challenging course together, which has a fun layout and will challenge even better golfers at times...i'm a single digit and i enjoyed the layout and the holes that make you play a shot, not just hit it & hope...it's a fun track, and with a good pace of play, worth checking out imo
little extra crabgrass in places, not ideal, but like many other public courses in this area
weekend rate of $84 seems steep, but in this area they all overcharge...
odd rule is 2 carts per foursome, so you'll ride with strangers if you arrive as a single, which is fine with me, like making new friends
Excellent!
Pace of play and condition of course excellent! Will be back soon.
Conveniently Located
I like Penderbrook. This course can be challenging but it’s a fun course to play. I’d have enjoyed it more if there were amenities like on course water coolers and golf ball washers..
Terrible staff
Course updates are great, greens rin great shape. However, the front staff and course manager is terrible.
Local Gem
Drive up to the DC area for a conference and had some time to kill. Found Penderbrook through GolfNow and decided to play 18 by myself. Absolutely did not regret it.
From the pro shop to the starters, everyone was super friendly and helpful/knowledgeable. Fairways were in great shape and the greens were fast. I’ll absolutely be back.
BB review
Course was very interesting and well kept. I enjoy so much I played 18 more on the same day.
course was really nice and gives a golfer a fair challenge. would definitely go back for a second round to get a better feel for some holes. great public course
Good Value Course in Lovely Community
Greens slicker than expected with a lot of them sloped; a great touch required . Course layout fine. Played from white should have played from blue to make par 3s a little more challenging. Staff very friendly and starter on the mark for starting us on back nine. Great 19th hole pub
Slow play
Marshals need to help speed groups up or they should set tee times further apart. Groups were backed up all day.
Penderbrook Golf Club,
Hello, we do apologize as it was Father's Day, which tends to be one of our busiest days of the year. Pace was slower than we would have liked but we did have a marshal going around all day and were also utilizing our cart GPS pace-of-play system.
Our tee times are set 10-minutes apart, which is standard for most public golf courses.
If you would like to tell us more about your experience, please e-mail us at info@penderbrookgolfclub.com
Have a great day!
Nice and challenging
Course is definitely improving. Depending on the tees you start from it's moerate to challeging.
Great layout but bring lotsa golf balls.
This is a recreational golf club where the rough eats balls when you miss the pretty narrow fairways. It is actually a nice layout, but the rough is ridiculous. Even if you are sure where it is the chances of finding it are very remote.
Clubhouse bar/pub is very nice with a great selection of libations and I hear the food is pretty darn good.
A little more mowing and a bit wider fairways and it would be a go to course. .
Stay in the very narrow fairways
The rough on this course is a killer! If you are lucky enough to find your ball be prepared to hack your way back into the fairway. It’s a very nice layout. But it punishes you if you miss the fairway.
Staff - especially the pub staff are super friendly with a good beer and liquor selection and very nice menu.
Will try the course again - but I hope they get the lawnmower fixed !
Don’t waste your time
Bad layout, bad condition, no range. Putting green is terrible, leave your driver at home because there is nowhere to use it. Only course I’ve ever played where your second shot on a par 5 is a chip down the fairway because it’s a 90 degree dogleg with no hazard to avoid. Garbage.
Penderbrook Golf Club,
Hello, we are sorry you didn't meet your expectations. The greens were aerated on May 5th and are a necessary maintenance measure that is done twice a year to improve turf conditions throughout the year. Aerated greens normally take about 2 weeks to fully heal, the rest of the golf course is in great shape.
We have made many improvements over the years to improve the playability of the golf course and feel that the golf course is a fair test. The golf course does require accuracy off the tee and into the greens.
Hole #4 does have a creek going down the right side which comes into play on your second shot.
We hope that you come back soon now that the greens have fully healed.
Have a great day!
I wish they had told me
Greens were very recently aerated and full of pock marks and sand. Tees (blues) were not in very good shape.
Like I said, I wish they told me up front.
Penderbrook Golf Club,
Hello,
All tee times on GolfNow.com had an "aerification alert" on them from 5/8/23 to 5/14/23. We are sorry you did not see the alert, but it the only option we have for alerting customers on GolfNow.com.
We hope to see you out again soon now that the greens have fully healed.
Have a great day!
