Your approach to the 8th at Grand Cypress New needs to cross a burn, and you'll drive your cart over a stone bridge toward the green. Kitschy? Sure, but chalk it up to commitment to a certain aesthetic. Photo submitted by TimGavrichGP on 08/31/2018

The New Course is a unique and refreshing central Florida layout. Wide open off the tee and virtually no trees. Course looks like a links layout but the turf does not allow for true links style golf shots. However, it is still very fun to play!
Top course
Played the north and south course which were excellent but the New course was superb would put it in the top 5 courses I've ever played would recommend any golfer to play this
Great Links Course
The course is in perfect conditions! we played at 1:30 PM and it was really hot but the strategically placed water coolers along the course and the cart girl that constantly passed by made it easy to withstand the heat.
The course has wide fairways in great conditions, easy tee shots on the front nine, a bit more difficult in the back due to the large number of bunkers. In both cases your approach needs to be very precise because the greens are very undulated. They roll like a pool table and they are not easy!
Very Enjoyable and challenging. Will definitely be back.
If you are staying in the villas, be prepare to be blown away by the luxury and comfort they offer and the staff friendliness..
Played the new course
Course was perfect. Cart girls great. Always fun to play the new course. Never disappoints
Absolutely awesome time
My son and I had a fantastic time. The course was great the people were friendly. I would highly recommend coming here.
A Grand Day Out
From the time you step into the pro’s shop until you leave this is a great golf experience. Everyone is friendly and welcoming and as we are from Scotland the fact that this course was a homage to the Old Course at St Andrews was a big claim. It did not disappoint. The double greens and the first, seventeenth and eighteenth holes are all reminiscent of the great course but with Florida weather!! Already booked to play it again. Great course, great condition, got to play it as a two ball which was a huge bonus and cut down playing time. If you only play one course when you come here, make it this one.
UnFlorida golf that works pretty well
"Florida golf" conjures a lot of images among savvy golfers, few of them positive. Too-flat courses with too much water and too many stack-a-shack condos peering over every fairway, etc.
The New Course is different, not only for the way it sprints in the other direction, but for how it also represents a bit of a departure for Jack Nicklaus, its designer. Nicklaus courses have tended to be demanding and difficult, sometimes to a fault, especially off the tee. At Grand Cypress New, you can miss wildly in certain spots and still have prospects for an approach shot into a par four or a layup on a par five. But in the same tradition as The Old Course, which it invokes, you can get tripped up by hidden moguls and bunkers. Overall, though, you can post a score on the course, which is not terribly long. You might just have to play a little more strategically than you're used to, which is part of the fun and charm of the course.
That said, it is a bummer that even with the space he was given, Nicklaus declined to route the course in an easily walkable way, but this is Florida resort golf after all, and I guess properties don't expect (or even want) visitors to consider walking. That's one Florida golf stereotype the course very much maintains.
Always great
Excellent Wednesday afternoon, teed off at 1:06 and were finished by 4:15. Greens were still growing in from being aerated or rating would have been 5 star across the board.
ok course, conditions marginal
Round started with zero service from bag drop and front support staff. Then tough pro shop personleal were nice, they said that their computer systesm on a satrurday morning had rebooted and failed and had to wait some time to get systems up. Precluded any type of practice 915-20 minutes just for that.
And they said nothing about course conditions. the starters said the course had been aerated 2 weeks ago and should be good. Actually had been aerated within the last week and greens were basically unputtable. Very very bouncy. COuld see major large tine holes and some sand all over the greens. Major large tine holes thruough course as well. Very lumpy bumpy.
Considering the amount of rain and other thiings, course was reasonably dry but definitely should 2-4 some (three bags but somes 4 playing and sometimes 2 playing that was beyond slow. Woman driving one cart drove super slow and all over course including right up to greens without handicap flag (whcih the course does a good job in providing if needed). Beyond belief slow back nine.
Fun Course-Must Play
A very Fun course to play. Wide OPEN but very challenging greens. Watch out for the pot bunkers. On a golf trip and played 5 rounds and this was are favorite track. Staff was Great. Course was in great shape. Fairways are perfect! Can go all out with the Driver.
Start and Finish in St Andrews
Having played St Andrews earlier this season I can confirm that Jack has done a fine job in recreating the 1st and 18th here at the New Course. The Scottish feel continues with wonderfully rolling fairways, large double greens and gorse and long grasses on the edges of the fairways. Course was in super condition with fairways like carpets and greens smooth and rolling fast and true. A great test of golf due to the well placed fairway bunkers and one that should be on everyones list to play when in the area.
Great shape, nice people. Not for me
The course was in great shape physically and the people were very friendly but you get to a field that is wide open and there are at least four or more holes with people hitting all over the place. Confusing not to really know where to aim.
Perfect day
This is hands down one of the most enjoyable courses I have ever played. Very friendly course, in near perfect condition, couldn't of asked for much more. Pace of play is always a bit slow at popular courses, but other than that, there was not a thing to complain about. Go play it.
Best Course in Orlando
The new course was as nice and challenging as TPC Sawgrass!!!
Amazing true links golf course
I love this course it was a true links course that makes you think about each shot the course conditions were amazing there wasn’t one dry area that I came across pin positions were tough and the greens were perfect except for a few stray pitch marks but an amazing jack Nicklaus design a MUST play if you are in Orlando
OLD ST. ANDREWS COURSE
1ST IS THE COURSE IS NTO NEW. 2ND IS THE COURSE HAS LOTS OF BUNKERS WHERE YOU NORMALLY HIT THE BALL. IF YOU ARE NOT VERY GOOD AT GOLF THIS IS GOING TO BE VERY DIFFICULT TO PLAY. ALMOST EVERY HOLE YOU HAVE TO HIT AT LEAST A 90 YARD CHIP SHOT TO THE GREEN. SO IF YOU WANT A REAL CHALLANGE THIS IS THE COURSE TO TAKE ON. WIDE OPEN FAIRWAYS WITH VERY LITTLE WATER BUT LOTS OF BUNKERS.
Disappointed
I was really looking forward to playing this course and had high hopes.
Arrived at course and all seemed well until we went to the driving range and it was full, managed to hit a few balls and then went to tee off. There was a 4 ball in front of us and they hit off. We waited paietently and had to wait again and again on these guys, we were a 2 ball and they kept saying that it was the guys in front that weee holding up. Called the club house and no answer. No rangers out on the course and the pace of play was terrible. Came to the 17th hope and there were 8 guys on the green and another 4 watching, they were all a group so it was all of them that were holding up play during the full round.
I went into the shop to complain but it was closed as it had taken us 5 hours to get round the course.
I had a word with a staff member about our complaint and he told me that there were rangers out on the course, basically called me a liar.
Course was nice but it is really let down by the people looking after it not keeping pace of play up, would have been absolutely furious if I had payed high season rates here.
Always a favorite
I live in Central Florida and when the Yankees head back up north after the winter the Grand Cypress Resort courses are a great place to play. 45 holes of golf, good practice area, the golf academy and great restaurant and bar. Hard to beat.
