Your approach to the 8th at Grand Cypress New needs to cross a burn, and you'll drive your cart over a stone bridge toward the green. Kitschy? Sure, but chalk it up to commitment to a certain aesthetic. Photo submitted by TimGavrichGP on 08/31/2018

Nice Course but Bumpy Cart Paths + Expensive F&B
Great value $49 on Sunday afternoon 12:30 tee time. The fairways and greens were in good condition but not great. I gave myself 2 drops on the fairways due to abnormal ground conditions (I am a rules official). Some of the greens were a bit splotchy. The course itself has many pot bunkers and demands shot planning and shot making. The greens are quite undulating and some have false fronts. It is not uncommon to see your ball roll off the green if it lands in the wrong place. All putts are demanding. The cart paths are atrociously bumpy. They shake the crap out of you and likely damage the cart. Better to drive on the fairway. It is disappointing that a course of this quality would have such poor cart paths. F&B is outrageously overpriced both at the restaurants and from the refreshment cart. (The turkey sandwich from the cart was good but really dry and needed mayo.)
I indicated that the pace of play was good because we were the first group off the back nine at 12:30. However I must explain that I signed up as a single on GolfNow and joined 3 other golfers who did not maintain a good pace. Regardless of handicap they all went through an extensive pre shot routine that would make a PGA Tour pro envious and also after putting out they would often replace the ball and attempt the putt again even with the group behind waiting to hit their approach shots or waiting on the tee of the par 3s. I feel that this type of behaviour is very callous. This is not a reflection on the course but only on the clientele that play there.
What a track
Enjoyed this links style course very much. Bunkered very well so bring your A game. It would help if the course came with some on-cart GPS or guidebook as there are some blind shots for first time players of the course.
Nice Cinditions.
Tees and fairways great condition with lots of grass. Greens good speed. Normal amount of grain for Fla. golf. Would play again at GolfNow price.
Beautiful Links Course
Grand Cypress-New Course is a beautiful Links -style course. Staff is friendly and very accommodating, and the course is in great shape tees through greens. Unfortunately, parking facilities don't accommodate a busy golf day like yesterday. Pace of play was very good given the solidly booked course. However, my foursome was followed by an impatient single, and allowing a single out on an especially busy Sunday seems imprudent since letting him play through was not an option and his obvious impatience was a bit annoying. All in all, a good day at a very nice course.
New Course
one of the best courses you can play in the orlando area if not the best course play this course as much as possible
Great course with a hot deal
Paid $30 for a hot deal. Fantastic deal. This course has seen better days but is for the most part, a solid 4 stars compared to other Florida public courses. A must play for links style golf.
Amazing
This is by far my favorite course in the Orlando area and I look forward to them reopening
Links Course in Orlando
This was a great links course in Orlando. it was in the 50's and windy when i played. That added to the experience for me. The course has tightly mowed fairways with bunkers everywhere to catch your ball. The double greens are really cool. This course forces you to play smart and be creative around the greens. Lots of fun and I would love to play the course again.
The toughest mental test ever
We played in an FSGA foursomes tournament here, and I cannot say enough positive things about the people who work at Grand Cypress. The staff will accommodate you however they can, and customer service is excellent. The golf course itself is incredibly challenging on multiple levels. I am a 6 handicap, and I will never play the tips of this course ever again. Multiple 440 yard par 4s and 190+ par 3s place an incredible mental challenge before you. It says 6,700 on the scorecard, but if you factor in the three short holes of #1, #10 and #18, this course plays much longer. And the length is only half the battle, as once you get on or near the greens you will experience undulations that will unnerve even the best of golfers. And some of these greens are so ridiculously small that hitting them in regulation is next to impossible. I challenge anyone to make a par on #8. That hole is perhaps the hardest par 4 I've ever played. You really have to treat it as a par 5 from the tips. Absolutely brutal.
This is not a course that I would want to play on a regular basis, but for a tournament like this it was a great test of golf. And Grand Cypress always impresses on and off the course, in every facet of the resort.
Amazing Course
Second time playing this Links style course.. Amazing conditions, really fast greens, good pace of play and just an amazing time.
Great find
Played this course off the blue tees starting at 2:09 and very happy to get round by 5:40, in the daylight! Really enjoyed the different style of course where an errant shot was punished by a stroke or two due to bunkers rather than losing Balls in water or waste ground! Going back to play it again hoping to improve my score!
Very interesting Nicholas design
Very cool how this was a tribute course to St Andrews. A lot of tough lies, and long putts, but that just made the round interesting. Course itself is in pretty good shape, and I was with a good group, so that made for a fun day.
Excellent course but a little slow
The New course has a very nice layout and is in very good condition. I would appreciate that some time manager was around to make sure to speed the play up. We had to quite due to darkness after 5 hours play.
A fun and challenging course
The New course is a challenging, fair, enjoyable test of golf. This is Jack Nicklaus' Americanized version of the Old Course in St. Andrews, and it has many of the features of this Scottish masterpiece, including some holes that are exact copies.Even a bern wanders in front of the first and eighth holes. But thankfully, Jack didn't incorporate the dreaded gourse plants that line the Old Course fairways. You get plenty of roll on the closely cut fairways and you can put some greens from far off some fairways. This is a thinking man's test -- be careful or a pot bunker will gobble up your ball No two holes seem the same and you get a chance to use all the clubs in your bag. Plus, you don't encounter any of the in-play ponds/lakes that highlight most Florida resort courses. The greens were fast and a test but they unfortunately were marred by either problems created by players wearing spikes or some other element that resulted in lots of unevenness/torn up grass around the holes. This negative was evident on virtually all the greens. Other reviews have indicated some issues with the course honoring tee times. We almost had the same problem. We showed up for our tee time 15 minutes ahead of schedule, just about the same time a group of 28 arrived on the tee box. They obviously were very late; the only thing that prevented a real dilemma was quick thinking by the starter. He took my playing partner and me to the back nine. From that starting point, we didn't encounter any wait the rest of the afternoon. This was the kind of top-notch service we encountered throughout our day. The driving range was fully stocked with balls and they have a putting and chipping green just off the first tee. Don't miss a chance to play this terrific course.
Such an awesome course. . Tee boxes are like very nice greens. The actuall greens, putters beware. All I'm sayin.
