Slammer and Squire Golf Course at World Golf Village
About
World Golf Village is home to 36 challenging holes of championship golf. The Slammer & Squire Course is named after the two World Golf Hall of Fame legends, Sam Snead and Gene Sarazen, who served as consultants to the course's designer, Bobby Weed. The golf course is known for its tricky par-3 holes and the carefully preserved beauty of the landscape. Its traditional layout meanders through native flatwoods and hardwood hammocks, running alongside wetland preserves and a wildlife habitat. The scenic Slammer & Squire Course features contoured greens and gently rolling, generous fairways. There is also an abundance of water on the golf course in the forms of lakes and marshes.

Not now play latet
Like this place, so I invited customers down. Great lunch in the Grill. Then the bad news came. Course is under heavy renovations. Lot of GUR. Too much to allow play if you ask me. We had to play back nine twice. Just wrong time but should be in great shape by spring.
Slow round but understandable
Fairways had recently been over seeded - they look like they will be great in a few weeks time but were soft with little roll today
Cart path only was understandable but made for a slow round
Greens were consistent and rolled true and well
Overall the course conditions did not detract from a fun round on an excellent layout
Great course
Had a blast playing here again, greens were great even though they had recently been punched. Lots of people so pace of play was around 5 hours for 18 holes but it was a very enjoyable 5 hours. Definitely will be back soon!
Under water
Expected this course to be a treat but turned into nightmare. Course was virtually unplayable but they still put people out. Cart path only was in play but even to walk on the course you would sink into the fairway. Stayed covered in mud as with every shot was like hitting out of the water. When looking for your ball in the middle of fairway you looked for mounds as about every ball was plugged. Course is probably nice when dry. Just feel should have been compensated for such poor condition especially what I payed to play here and traveled 85 miles to play.
Slammer and Squire
Always enjoy playing the course. It was very soggy after five days of rain but no one can help that.
Great layout
Make sure to always call ahead and ask about course conditions first. Booked and they had punched the greens. Bummer⛳️
Best of the bunch
Of the 4 courses I played in and around Jax this was my favorite. Nice views of the HOF tower throughout. Risk reward holes. No aeration. I'll definitely be back.
Very Good Course, Disappointed in World Golf Village
I made the trek to World Golf Village expecting a PGA experience like I experienced at TPC Sawgrass. The hotel does NOT deliver on a golf-resort experience. It was loud, the service was poor, and the hotel was filled with many non-golfer groups. If you can find a way to play the Slammer & Squire without over-paying for the mediocre (2-Star) hotel, I would.
great course
The course is in great shape its a little soft from recent airation but in great shape as always
Very nice layout
This is very nice course. The condition was very good only one or two bad spots that really stand out. The greens were a little slower than I would expect considering that cost/ course stature. I would play this course again
Love this course
Normally I would give less stars for "value for the money" but I played for only $59, which is a great price for this course. The course is in great shape.
Hall of Fame
Very nice course. Well groomed and manicured. Highly recommend playing this one when in Florida
Second best on site
It's decent. If only playing one round at the world golf village play King & Bear. It's back 9 is spectacular. The Squirre & Slammer doesn't feel like a Florida course if that's what your after but it's decent for $130 or so.
Great Course,l
Really enjoyed the course & the staff is awesome here. They take good care of you... 3-4 different tee box options to suit every level of player. I feel
Like it is a forgiving course, wide fairways & big greens. Good bit of sand & water, but that's fine.
Review
Excellent course. Golfnow.com made it more affordable. Even the cost of a beer was not too high, as it is at a lot of the nicer courses.
Awesome !
From start to finish one is catered to at this course . The Golfnow green fee really allows one to enjoy this jewel. The course is in excellent shape all the way around. This course is run as efficiently as any you will play. You will not be disappointed.Greens are fast and roll true. The irons check up nicely but the pitches and chips will roll out a bit more than I was accustomed to.Fairways are wide and forgiving but a well placed drive can make a 2 to 3 club difference depending on which side of the fairway you hit.The courses has many well maintained bunkers and some water that can definitely come in play.If you are in the Jacksonville area you should make this a bucket list destination.
Nice Course, Courteous Staff
Very nice, challenging course. Played on 4/17/16. Although some of the tee boxes could use a little more grass, the overall condition was very good with the greens being excellent. Was greeted by a young, very courteous man in the pro shop upon arrival. Would play again, but the (regular) greens fees were a too high I thought.
Back on our list
Last time we played this course the greens needed work, but this year they were in great shape. Ended up behind a college team after hole 7' At the turn starter let us go back to 1st tee so wouldn't be stuck behind the college tournament. This course is back on our list of course to play in St Augustine.
Good for low handicaps
Tees, fairways, rough, greens were in good shape -- green not browned out, weeds were recently srayed, divots for the most part were filled in with sand. Did see evidence of water / drainage issues but not an issue playing.
Putting can be an issue. Tough to take time with foursomes coming up. Very subtle changes that you can't readily see. Yes, part of the game.
Front 9 different from back 9. Front is tree lined, back is open fields. Both are fun and fair. Rolling mounds in fairways common so expect uneven lies. On 11 tee you drive in a narrow chute. On 13,14, you hit over bunker/water. Low h/c's side water & bunkers. High h/c's got to tread the neddle bete the greenside hazards.
Staff very courteous. You park by the I Golf Hall of Fame and are driven (100yes) to clubhouse. Great lunch at Legends!!
Overall good playing course for everyone.
Great Course
Like this track a lot, of course it helps when you shoot a low round. Course was in good shape for the most part, a couple of choppy areas on some greens.
